worst management in Sugar Land

by hhallbec

I arrived at Pappasitos at approx. 5:40. I put my name on the waiting list because I was told that it would only take 45 minute wait. I understand that today was Valentime day and they were busy. What I didn't like is that the girls upfront kept lying to me. After one hour I went back upto the front to see where I was on the waiting list. My 5 year old grandson was with me along with my husband. The girls said that it would be about 20 more minutes and we could be seated. After 2 hours my grandson and all of us were starving, so I approached the girl upfront again and again I was told they just had 4 people in front of us and it would be any minute now. That was after two hours. After two and half hours I was tired hungry and furious. The girls then told me that it would still be another 30 minutes. This has got to be poor management on their part. I will tell everyone that will listen to me in Sugar Land not to ever go into that restaurant again. We left after 2 1/2 hours and went to the Jack in the Box. Thanks Poppositos for a great Valentime. I will never give you one penny of my money ever again.

Very mediocre, over priced Tex Mex

by PSD4

Note to self; Self, do not eat at Mexican Restaurant CHAINS again. There are a lot of good Tex-Mex choices in Sugar Land/Missouri City/Stafford area. Pappsitos is not one of them.

I?m reluctant to mention our favorite Tex Mex restaurant in the area for fear that once it is discovered; the wait for a table will be too much. Oh OK?..its El Vaqueros ?..look it up.

We decided to go to Pappsitos (reluctantly) because one of my daughter?s friends now works there.

Again I am reminded why I don?t go to this over-priced, over cilantroed, Houston Tex-Mex chain. The food tasted like a El Chico frozen TV dinner with a double helping of cilantro.

People that grew up on Austin, San Antonio and South Texas, Tex-Mex are surely appalled and most likely would prefer day-old Taco Bell than the un-inspired, over priced, (did I mention over cilantroed?) crud they serve at this place. The spearmint after dinner mints are quite tasty if you like cilantro flavored candy.

  • Pros: The Chips were not over salted
  • Cons: Tasted like a TV dinner.....slathered in cilantro

rapidly falling downhill

by slowhand44

After several visits ,I will never waist my time with these people again. They are constantly out of what I order, and they charge extra for cheese and sour cream on fajitas even though they already charge $14.00 for chicken. My nachos had no peppers And they charged me extra for them. The manager was indifferent and offered to take the charge off for the peppers. The point is that this is a cheap, sleazy way to do business and has no place in a supposidly upscale tex-mex restaurant.Poor service and weak drinks add to my disappointment.

  • Pros: parking, nice patio
  • Cons: service, quality, price

Exceptional, reliable Tex-Mex!

by sharopooks

I was raised in Houston but now live in NY & I almost always try to dine here when I visit. My NYer husband finally got to taste Pappasito's outstanding Tex-Mex this past trip & it lived up to the hype! (We came last yr for dinner but left cuz of long wait, this time we came for lunch, so I recommend lunch if long waits turn you off). From the delectable chips & salsa to the large entrees, everything here is supremely tasty. My mom & I shared a holiday special for 2, the Festivo, which was beef&chicken fajitas, stuffed shrimp & lobster. YUM. I usually get the fajitas, the margaritas are great too & the tortillas are always fresh & warm. A favorite!

  • Pros: YUMMY FOOD, large portions, margaritas
  • Cons: Long evening waits

Great tex mex

by scum1

I eat tex mex food every week. Papasitios is one of my faves. Not the cheapest but the portions are very large. You will need a to go boxmost likely. The margaritas are good and don't give you a headache like some cheaper places do. This is not "Mexican" food. If your looking for real meexican food got to c&d taco in baytown. Tex mex is what most people expect here though and papasitos is one of the best at that
