Best steam shrimp dumpling, others too Vietnamese style
by stickybb at Citysearch
The steam shrimp dumpling is the best in town. Fried taro is also delicious. Other Dim Sum is kind of Vietnamese. Service is fast.
- Pros: Service
- Cons: Too Vietnamese
They no longer serve dim sum
by prnnstatebill at Citysearch
Food is always good to excellent, the service, if they are busy it is poor at best, if half full or less service is good.
Large variety of food. At time it can be very noisy, but worth the inconvience.
- Pros: food variety
- Cons: service and they do not have dim sim any longer
WORST SERVICE, WORST EXPERIENCE
by gheeknee at Citysearch
I had an anniversary party here for 180 people. The service was TERRIBLE. The manager was RUDE. The air conditioner was not working. The bathroom was FILTHY. I will NEVER do business with this establishment again.
Grew up on this great food.

My family has been coming to Kim Son since it opened its doors at the original Houston location. I can remember being a child and standing in lines winding out the doors to get in on busy weekends. Over the years I have come to love this place more and more. I was so excited when they opened up the Stafford location closer to my home! Try the Dim Sum. It is a fun, educational, yummy, and occasionally surprising experience! Great for a group. The vermicelli dishes are my favorite and several of the menu offerings are very healthful and fresh. The vegetarian spring rolls and crispy egg rolls are the best anywhere...wrap in lettuce, basil, and mint and dip in spicy fish sauce! Service is pretty good and the huge fish tank is usually well kept and beautiful. Can get pretty loud on busy nights though.
It's yummy!

I love Kim Son and and this is as good as the others... the only thing is they need a new dishwasher. The silverware and plates are never clean. Other than that the food is great.
- Pros: food, fishtank, outdoor dining
- Cons: unclean dishes
Everything is great, but no dim sum.

We like Kim Son a lot, but we were told that Dim Sum is not being served anymore.

In Short
Palatial, neo-Chinese-style restaurant and banquet hall perched on an artificial pond. Expansive windows provide ample light and the outdoor patio with a view of the fountains is a must when the weather is willing. Menu highlights include crisp-fried Vietnamese egg rolls wrapped in lettuce leaves; spring rolls; peppered crabs and vermicelli dishes. Bo nuong xa, or grilled Vietnamese fajitas, are the perfect entree choice, served with a bundle of just-picked mint, purple basil, lettuces, carrots, cucumbers, pineapple and sprouts.

Been to this Kim Son several times for Dim Sum, and the food was great each time. The service varies from time to time, but usually not anything outstanding. As long as you're up for authentic dim sum, this place is great.
- Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Inexpensive
Excellent food!
