This 474-acre outdoor museum is a living remnant of Texas' frontier history, and it's showcased in a bed of colorful wildflowers in the spring.

In Short
On weekends, visit the dogtrot cabin and watch costumed performers re-enact life on a Texan stock farm amid cotton-spinning wheels, corn grinders, Dutch ovens and other tools of the pioneers. You'll even see a fantastic cattle-working demonstration. Next, step into the 1890s and admire the ornately furnished Davis Victorian manor, greenhouse, dance hall and carriage house. Watch a blacksmith artfully practice ironwork and see a cowboy camp come alive. Take a stroll through the 1930s and visit the great ranch house of Mamie and A.P. George.

A friend and I went to the George Ranch yesterday and it was a great experience if you are into history. I really enjoyed hearing the history behind the houses and the families that lived there. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. They joked around with us and did not make us feel as though we were wasting their time. Everyone had a smile on their face and would speak to you, even the guys that were cutting the grass!! The facilities were neat and clean even the animals looked freshly washed except the pigs!!!
- Pros: Friendliness, Knowledge of Staff, Inexpensive
