The Swinging Door has the very best Bar B Q available in the Houston area. No if's, and's or but's about it. It has always been woth the short and scenic drive.

BEST RIBS

The ribs are excellent! We tried the famous Dreamland in Alabama and they were laughable compared to Swinging Door. Baked Potato is great, too. And the potato salad alone is worth the trip.

One HUGE complaint - we order to go a lot and MANY times we have purchased 5 to 8 pounds of barbecue and arrive home to find a measly 2 onion slices, 3 jalapenos and a smattering of pickles. We spend a lot of money! Don't make us stop at the store for onions!

good food GREAT SERVICE!

to those of you who have had bad service, all i can say to you is do you talk to a manager, or address this problem in anyway before you left, so that the situation could be taken care of. I have always had great service, but maybe that is because I understand that people can have a bad day. After all they are only human and not robots humans show feelings. it is only natural to express them sometimes unaware that you are expressing them. OTHER THAN THAT THE SWINGING DOOR IS SOME OF THE BEST BARBEQUE I HAVE HAD, THE OLNY BARBEQUE BESIDES MY DADS THAT I WILL EVEN COME CLOSE TO EATTING. REMINDS ME OF HOME SWEET HOME!

• Cons: parking lot has holes, reservations needed, on friday-sunday

Best BBQ in Texas

This is the best bbq I've found in Texas. I love the lean sliced beef they serve. The sauce is unbelievable and the service is great. I usually drive 13 miles, twice a week to have lunch. The service is quick and I can be back to work within an hour. The place has an old-fashion country feeling and it's a pleasure to get out of Houston's rat-race. They also have a great blackberry cobbler served with vanilla ice cream. The only bad thing is they close on Monday and Tuesday.

Excellent Barbeque

I originally came from Chicago and in the past 5+ years I have been all over the south trying barbeque and the Swinging Door is the best barbeque by far.

If you are looking for a huge menu selection this may not be the place for you, but the items that they serve are all excellent. Be sure to save some room for the cobbler!

I've been going to The Swinging Door since I was a kid, and it is still the best. Great country atmosphere, food, service, and great promptness on food. I don't think I could go anywhere else.

Food-good, service-SUCKS

Yes, I agree the food is great. But, the service is HORRIBLE. They act like you are totally bothering them - like, what are you you doing here!! If you order take-out, make sure you check it before you leave. You may ask why I go back? Not alot of selection in the Richmond area, and the food is good. South Texas BBQ on 1st Street is GREAT, too.
