Longtime Houston burger mainstay for classic greasy spoon fare and a nostalgic atmosphere.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Over the years, many a Houstonian was reared on these flame-broiled burgers and crinkle cut fries. Menu highlights include the signature Bellaire Special burger with two quarter-pound patties, bacon, cheese and all the fixings or the deluxe burger with chili, cheese and onions. If you haven't been in a while, the interior remains trapped in the '70s and can get a little smoky, but fans of this mom and pop joint don't seem to mind.

The way a burger should be!

Hamburgers should be juicey and tasty, BBB is both! The Onion wrings are a great side for their Double Bacon Cheeseburger.

Best in Houston, hands down

by ahevle at Citysearch

The Bellaire Broiler is everything a great burger joint should be. The 60's vintage decor was what drew me into the place, hinting at an undiscovered treasure. Any place that's been there for that long can't have bad food, and people don't go there for the ambiance.

Try the Bellaire special, fries or GREAT onion rings, and a shake. If you are tired of burgers, the chicken strips or chili are great too.

  • Pros: Best burgers in town, Great counter service, Fantastic onion rings
  • Cons: , Dark interior

Broiler Burger's the greatest!

by nevarsgirl at Citysearch

I too have been going to BB with my family since I was tall enough to sit on the booster seat, and it is exactly the same now as it was then. No, not fancy, no credit cards, closed on Sundays. And do you know why they haven't "updated"...BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO!!! The food is so awesome it keeps the place packed all the time without all the superficial frills. ONLY THE BEST HAMBURGER IN THE WORLD, HANDS DOWN!!! Frankly, I'd be a little disappointed if they did redecorate.

  • Pros: inexpensive, delicious food, DELICIOUS FOOD!

how could you rate it poorly?

by joannaism at Citysearch

Broiler Burger is absolutely delicious.

It's been around forever (my grandparents took me there as a child) and it does look it, a typical greasy spoon place. But the food is outstanding, the best burger you'll ever eat!

what is this???

by allendeb at Citysearch

The burgers are average. If you want to compare to BK, then yes, they're good, but if you're comparing to a great handformed burger made fresh to order (like the place next door), then it's horrible. The place is so old, so dirty looking that is cut my appetite. the presentation is not at all appealing, the value is 0 and the whole experience was a major disapointment. a D- at best. Not recommendable to anyone.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: too many

The Broiler

by zandermoo at Citysearch

Holey Toledo, what a burger! As a religious connosieur of fine dining in Houston, a man with a patty-palate, the simple claim that Bellaire Broiler Burger is a "good" "reasonably-priced" establishment fails to pass the mustard. Their food, after all, is divinely tasty... could the Quaids ever be wrong about blue-collar dishes?

The decor, you say? Well, if you're a consumer who actually needs clean tables and attractive wait-staff to enjoy an eating experience, stick with La Madeleine... we don't want you at The Broiler. You would ruin our view.

This restaurant is one of a dying breed. In a world of fast food franchises, cookie-cutter suburban corporate diners, and bland, pseudo-upscale restaurants, Bellaire Broiler Burger is a beacon in the evening for anyone with the good sense to buck the present and live in Houston's urban gustatorial past.

Personally, I'd rank it number one.

Super Good...

by earnieb at Citysearch

I don't know what's wrong with all these neat freaks... You can't enjoy super good burgers in a place that's TOO Neat or TOO clean. Have you ever taken a good look at neat and clean Mc*D's, or W*ndy's or any other PLASTIC Burger joint? Then, have you given them a high rating for taste, quality and atmosphere? This place has been a classic for 50 years and will remain so in my mind. I never miss it when I come to town. Get a LIFE, live and enjoy Bellaire Broiler Burger...NOT RELATED TO OWNERS...Earnie B.
