Disappointing
by Marvitra at Citysearch
Today was my first and last visit to this "Mexican" restaurant. I ordered the fish tacos which were described as having handmade corn tortillas. The tortillas were corn alright but definitely not handmade. I could have bought those at the store. The fish on the taco was not very tasty. I substituted rice and beans for the rice soup. The rice was plain white rice with corn in it instead of mexican rice. There were three or four servers for my table. I don't know why. It was very confusing. The servers spoke English but did not understand English, although they were nice. Very frustrating. Two of the four servers removed food and drinks from the table without asking if we were finished. Overall, the price I paid was not worth the experience. This restaurant is very disappointing for The Woodlands. I do not recommend it.
- Pros: none
- Cons: none
Our Favorite Mexican Restaurant
by RussCarlton at Citysearch
My wife always orders one of the stuffed avocadoes. I prefer the Las Ricas enchiladas. These are always great!
The tamales, quesadillas and fajitas are also very tasty.
The red and green salsas seem to be handmade in the restaurant, as they are a little different each time, but always terrific with their excellent chips.
Great Margaritas, and good cold beer.
The waiters are professionals, most of whom have been working here for years. They remember us when we come in, and frequently anticipate our desires.
What more could you want.
- Pros: Friendly staff; Reliably great food; Affordable prices
- Cons: Can be very crowded and noisy
Family-owned restaurant chain for dependable Tex-Mex standards and a kid-friendly atmosphere.

In Short
With close to a dozen locations spread throughout Houston and surrounding areas, the devoted regulars at Los Cucos depend on flavorful menu selections and tasty margaritas. With more options than other Tex-Mex restaurants, appetizers include hearty nachos, queso fundido, tortilla soup and chicken or shrimp-stuffed jalapenos. In addition to tacos, tamales, enchiladas, burritos and fajitas, diners can sample healthy platters of mixed grilled items, seafood and stuffed avocados from the multipage menu. Children's dishes available.
I LOVE IT!

Stuffed avocados anyone?! YEs, they are GREAT! A reason to live. Their food is always delightful but the service tends to change alot. The first time I was there I got excellent service but some other times the waiter has forgotten about us. :-) I still love the food!
- Pros: Stuffed avocados... YUM!
- Cons: Service is not very excellent at times
Great Mexican food in the Woodlands!
by jminervi at Citysearch
The second best kept secret in the Woodlands (#1 is Sakekawa)!! Los Cucos is well known to Aggies (as there is a sister restaurant in College Station), and, lucky for us suburbanites, there is another here in north Houston. The pre-dinner chips and salsa are great...every meal is accompanied by a mild-hot salsa which is served warm and a creamy avo/tomatillo salsa. The service is good...and if you arrive for happy hour ask about the $2 margaritas!! Los Cucos isn't necessarily romantic, but if you're in for some good Mexican before a show at the Woods Mitchell Pavillion or some other event up in the Woodlands, this place is a must!
- Pros: not expensive, great food, rapid service
- Cons: needs more ambience
great for lunch
by aggie_gal98 at Citysearch
A coworker and I decided to stop in for lunch. We found that we had lots of reasonably priced choices for lunch. We were seated right away. The service was quick. The food was fresh hot and tastey.
- Pros: Inexpensive
More Fajitas Please
by pdixon at Citysearch
While I didn't bring my .22 as the last reviewer suggested, I did bring my appetite. The fajitas just don't disappoint! This is by far the best Mexican food in the Woodlands area (I know it's pretty vanilla up here but it would be good anywhere). Try the magaritas and let loose.
- Pros: Easy Parking, Good for parents, inexpensive
fiesta of the woods

Deep in the heart of the Woodlands, nestled in the suburbs, lies a restaurant called Los Cucos. Los Cucos is reknowned for one thing. Fajitas. That is what i order. Tasty. That is what they are. If you're out in the Woodlands, illegally hunting songbirds with your .22 or whatnot, stop by and your stomach will thank you later.
- Pros: cheap, good parking, well lit
- Cons: no band, crowded, staff sometimes lazy
