Can we dump the "Montrose" label
by fakeracismstopcryingwolf at Citysearch
Whether or not Star Pizza itself calls this a "Montrose" location, it is not in Montrose. At least not the Montrose that most of us want to avoid when thinking about who is handling our pizzas. 59 and Shepherd is hardly "Montrose" so give it a rest already.
- Pros: Great pizza
- Cons: None

absoluely loooooooove this place. its tasty pizza, no matter what you get. my fav is margerita pizza, but mushroom and pineapple is great. they also have good ceasar salad. The price is great & the service is quick and friendly!
- Pros: taste & service
- Cons: not close enough to my house!
The best or second best pizza in town
by englishalien at Citysearch
My girlfriend and I are both students, and as such enjoy unique (non-chain) joints with great food and reasonable prices - thats exactly what you're getting with Stars. If you go expecting plush decor and smartly dressed waiteresses, you'll be disappointed. This is a good old no frills pizza place with both New York and Chicago styles to choose from. As vegetarians, I can't comment on the meat offerings, but the veggie special includes a bunch of juicy toppings like broccoli, mushrooms, etc. Its a toss-up between Star and Frank's as to who does the 'best' pizzas in town, but if we're talking toppings I'd have to go with Star!
- Pros: Awesome pizza, with both NY and Chicago styles. Friendly customers.
- Cons: Could do with more veggie options maybe.
Best pizza in Houston
by gocoogs91 at Citysearch
If you can't get to Chicago, Star Pizza is the closest thing in Houston. It can get crowded on weekends, but they usually keep up with demand. Parking is not great, but you can usually find a spot on the streets near by.
- Pros: Great pizza
- Cons: parking
Best pizza out there
by greenswizzle at Citysearch
This place is really excellent for tasty, real pizza that is made to order. I have always had excellent service and a perfectly done pizza every time. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, there's always parking, and it's a perfect place to bring a crowd.
- Pros: excellent pizza, made to order, parking, service
- Cons: Gets crowded on weekend
I love this place!
by cschace at Citysearch
This was my first time at Star Pizza. I would definitely come back for lunch, and even dinner. I love this place. If your in the mood for fantastic food in an uber-trendy atmosphere, you will probably love it, too. The was great and the waitstaff , albeit overtly cool, was very friendly. Try the Margherita Pizza or the Rosemary & Garlic Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
- Pros: Excellent food. Freindly Staff. Casual atmosphere.
- Cons: None
Best Pizza in Houston
by htownhurricane at Citysearch
This place is awsome. I love the cozy feeling this place has. My girlfriend and I were seated very promptly and had a nice table with the angel babys but. It was a packed house but we felt alone because of the large seats we had. The Pizza is the best I ever had. Im a really hearty guy and usually i eat an average of 4 slices, yet the pizza slices at this joint were so big and fool of toppings that I only ate 2. Best place to hang out with a group friends after a movie.
- Pros: Good Pizza, leave stuffed
- Cons: Location street is wierd, might confuse out of towners
9.8

Since I am still looking for the quintessential pizza, I cna only give it a 9.8 rating..but this is as close as you get.
You will never order delivery again.

Star is the best and most original pizza joint in Houston. Pizzas take 30-40 minutes to cook, so either order ahead of time before you arrive at the restaurant or try the goat cheese truffle or the Chelsea salad while you're waiting. Both are fantastic preludes to Star's delicious pizza. If you haven't tried Joe's pizza on a deep dish crust (try whole wheat!), you don't know what you're missing!
Hands down, the best pizza in town!
by zptabby at Citysearch
You must order the roasted head of garlic with goat cheese for starters! Each clove is like a warm, buttery explosion in your mouth! As for your meal, you can't go wrong with any pizza, pasta or entree. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed; great for a casual date, family dinner or night out with your friends. You will not be disappointed! If you want awesome pizza, Star is the only place to go!
- Pros: delicious food, good service, warm and cozy feel
- Cons: parking
