Good Pizza... TERRIBLE Service
by elemenoh at Citysearch
I've been enjoying Star Pizza for too many years to count. I'm 37 now, but have been eating there for WELL over 20 years (Norfolk location).
My wife & I recently ordered a pizza to-go, as has been our Sunday ritual for the last 3 years. When we got the pizza home, we opened the box to find the exact opposite pizza to what we usually get (anchovies, pineapple, jalapenos, wheat-crust, deep-dish).
I called to explain the situation to the management, and they said, no problem... just bring it back. We live 45 miles from Star's Norfolk location (we live in Pearland), so that wasn't an option. Eric & James (managers) assured me that they'd make it right by either a) refunding our money, or b) placing a 'credit' against my phone number/account.
Guess what... called in to exercise my 'credit', and lo-and-behold... no record of the transaction. I first spoke to Eric who was unwilling to assist and make it right, then I spoke to James, who was also unwilling to help and make it right.
I AM EXTREMELY ANNOYED by this situation. As I said earlier, I’ve been enjoying Star Pizza for 20+ years, but their unwillingness to make this situation right, has soured them in our mind. THEY HAVE LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER, and when I told them that they were losing my business, James said, and I quote, “Fine with me. Don’t call back”.
Eat at Star if you want good pizza. If you want decent service and customer satisfaction, eat elsewhere.
- Pros: Pizza
- Cons: Manager's Willingness to "make things right"
WOW What Happen!

Alls i know is today things were not good. It looked like the staff just woke up. Everyone seemed confused and unhappy. The vibe was weird. I felt uncomfortable. I dont think I will be back.
- Pros: was good
- Cons: now i dont know
bad service and takes FOREVER
by catran3 at Citysearch
we went on a Sat and ordered a medium pizza and I am not making this up, it took over an hour and a half to get our pizza while we waited and waited 4 other people (who came in after us) ate before us. Horrible. The server didn't care that it took forever and did not give us any explaination. we didn't even bother to speak to the manager we were so angry.
- Pros: good pizza but not worth the wait
- Cons: horible service and takes FOREVER
save your money, save the disappointment
by crazydiamond at Citysearch
The pizza I had delivered last night from Star Pizza in the Heights was DIS-GUS-TING and pretty much inedible. What was wrong with it? Well the main problem was WAAAAAAAAY too much cheese. That caused other problems as well. For example, New York style crust is supposed to be crispy!! This crust was the total opposite of crispy. It was doughy and moist and the pieces totally fell apart when we removed them from the box. Additionally, because of the inch-thick layer of rubbery cheese, when I received the pizza, much of the cheese had already slid off the top of the pizza, taking most of the toppings with it and coming to rest stuck to a corner of the cardboard box. All in all, it was one of the most disgusting pizzas I have ever had in my life. The only part that I could bring myself to eat was the crust. If I could do the night over again I would have saved some money and gotten a way more edible frozen pizza or Papa Johns
- Pros: cool atmosphere
- Cons: nasty, disgusting food
Disappointed
by gen333 at Citysearch
I had heard such great things, but what a disappointment. Our waiter was lacking any personality and was very inattentive. The deep dish pizza was soggy and covered in mushrroms for lack of the other ingredients promiced by the menu's description. And the bathroom was so gross I thought I would get a disease. It's not good at all, just trendy, but I don't like to follow the crowd so I will never go there again. It was way way over priced, almost 20$ for a large supreme! Barry's is the best.
What a waste...

After reading the reviews here on CitySearch I decided to try this place out. Total waste of money and all around bad experience. The pizza was bland, very little sauce, and the dough tasted like a bagel. Will not be going back and am not sure how this place has been around so long.
- Pros: Parking
- Cons: Food Taste/Quality, Waitstaff, Price
Hype
by NitrousX at Citysearch
This pizza is not worth the Hype that claims it to fame. Crust is doughy and rough. The inside of the resturant nice and eventful, good beer.
Would never dine there again
by BOBD2002 at Citysearch
This place keeps getting worse. I have only went with friends but I will never visit again. The buildings are run down and dirty, prices are expensive, they charge for everything, salads are $5 and bread is $4. Even the large pizza chains make better pizza. I wonder how places like this stay in business especially with wait time to get your food being 30-35 minutes.
- Pros: decent location, people try to be nice
- Cons: cooking takes 35 mins, bad parking, run down building
Worst I've ever had
by gloria2915 at Citysearch
This was the WORST pizza I've ever had!!! Friends and family wanted to go there, claiming it was the best and the sauce was horrible, the pizza was barely cooked and the waitstaff was the worst ever. I will NEVER eat there again!
