I love this place!
by cschace at Citysearch
This was my first time at Star Pizza. I would definitely come back for lunch, and even dinner. I love this place. If your in the mood for fantastic food in an uber-trendy atmosphere, you will probably love it, too. The was great and the waitstaff , albeit overtly cool, was very friendly. Try the Margherita Pizza or the Rosemary & Garlic Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
- Pros: Excellent food. Freindly Staff. Casual atmosphere.
- Cons: None
Great food and service

They have great pizza, great service and a great lunch buffet. Salad bar is always good. It is easy to get in and out quick for lunch.
save your money, save the disappointment

The pizza I had delivered last night from Star Pizza in the Heights was DIS-GUS-TING and pretty much inedible. What was wrong with it? Well the main problem was WAAAAAAAAY too much cheese. That caused other problems as well. For example, New York style crust is supposed to be crispy!! This crust was the total opposite of crispy. It was doughy and moist and the pieces totally fell apart when we removed them from the box. Additionally, because of the inch-thick layer of rubbery cheese, when I received the pizza, much of the cheese had already slid off the top of the pizza, taking most of the toppings with it and coming to rest stuck to a corner of the cardboard box. All in all, it was one of the most disgusting pizzas I have ever had in my life. The only part that I could bring myself to eat was the crust. If I could do the night over again I would have saved some money and gotten a way more edible frozen pizza or Papa Johns
- Pros: cool atmosphere
- Cons: nasty, disgusting food
Best Pizza in Houston
by htownhurricane at Citysearch
This place is awsome. I love the cozy feeling this place has. My girlfriend and I were seated very promptly and had a nice table with the angel babys but. It was a packed house but we felt alone because of the large seats we had. The Pizza is the best I ever had. Im a really hearty guy and usually i eat an average of 4 slices, yet the pizza slices at this joint were so big and fool of toppings that I only ate 2. Best place to hang out with a group friends after a movie.
- Pros: Good Pizza, leave stuffed
- Cons: Location street is wierd, might confuse out of towners
Disappointed
by gen333 at Citysearch
I had heard such great things, but what a disappointment. Our waiter was lacking any personality and was very inattentive. The deep dish pizza was soggy and covered in mushrroms for lack of the other ingredients promiced by the menu's description. And the bathroom was so gross I thought I would get a disease. It's not good at all, just trendy, but I don't like to follow the crowd so I will never go there again. It was way way over priced, almost 20$ for a large supreme! Barry's is the best.
Over-the-top pizzas loaded with ingredients like chicken and ground beef keep this original location packed.

In Short
Star Pizza has been cranking out pies in this funky old house in Montrose since 1976. Because of its reliability and quality ingredients, it stays pretty crowded. Some prefer the thin crust, but thick whole-wheat crust holds up better under a mountain of toppings. Specialties like the Joe (spinach, garlic) and the Starburst Deluxe (pepperoni, ground beef, sweet onions and cheese) are mainstays. Sandwiches, salads and lasagna round out the menu.
9.8

Since I am still looking for the quintessential pizza, I cna only give it a 9.8 rating..but this is as close as you get.
You will never order delivery again.

Star is the best and most original pizza joint in Houston. Pizzas take 30-40 minutes to cook, so either order ahead of time before you arrive at the restaurant or try the goat cheese truffle or the Chelsea salad while you're waiting. Both are fantastic preludes to Star's delicious pizza. If you haven't tried Joe's pizza on a deep dish crust (try whole wheat!), you don't know what you're missing!
Hands down, the best pizza in town!

You must order the roasted head of garlic with goat cheese for starters! Each clove is like a warm, buttery explosion in your mouth! As for your meal, you can't go wrong with any pizza, pasta or entree. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed; great for a casual date, family dinner or night out with your friends. You will not be disappointed! If you want awesome pizza, Star is the only place to go!
- Pros: delicious food, good service, warm and cozy feel
- Cons: parking
Great Pizza!!! Waitstaff will freak you out (at first)
by jmac26 at Citysearch
I love Star Pizza...the Chicago style pizza is the reason I can't shed these unwanted pounds. The pizza does take some time to come out, however, it's worth the wait. The waitstaff is very friendly but you wouldn't want to take them home to your mom. There's as many tattoes, piercings, dread locks, and pink hair as there is toppings. No matter how weird it looks inside that place, I continue to feed my hunger and I live a good thirty minutes away. Go there it's awesome!
- Pros: Pizza
- Cons: Professionalism of the waitstaff
