Yummy!

by good2bme

A favorite hangout for Lanier moms!

Hands down the best grilled chicken anywhere! add it to the big salad, cesar or any pasta - you will be so glad you did! today was my first time to try the grilled salmon - i am not a big fish eater...honestly - it was delicious - i look forward to enjoying it again! also love the grilled veggies (with chicken added of course!)

I highly recommend the adorable shortbread cookies - if you look at their website you will see the vast array of cookies available to order - i just picked up 2 dozen of the cupcakes for a birthday party - everyone LOVED them!

The staff is very friendly - tables get bussed straight away and are ready for the next lucky diner!

Now if they only served breakfast too!

Hope you enjoy Paulie's as much as i do!

  • Pros: Delicious healthy food
  • Cons: parking - but it is westheimer what else would you expect

A real find!!

by wcb123

I found Paulie's by accident one day and have been back at least once a week since!! The paninis are incredible and VERY filling. I have become hooked on their grilled tuna sandwiches with wasabi mayo and Italian potato salad. The staff is always courteous and the meals are all affordable. Do yourself a favor and try this place. You wont be disappointed!!!

Neat lil joint...

by twizznuts

My first experience of Paulie's was pretty good. I had one of the panini sandwiches with turkey, bacon and swiss cheese. Not sure what kind of bread they used, but I think I would prefered a different style of bread. The sandwhich was a good portion. I ended up eating half the sandwhich and doggy bagging the rest. The pasta salad that complimented the sandwhich was pretty good. It was made of shell shaped pasta with olive oil and i blieve artichoke and other stuff. I also tried one of their cookies that so many ppl were raving about. It was a round shaped cookie with some strawberry preserve in the middle. It tasted like a poptart. Overall I was very pleased with the food and ambiance. I'll surely go back, since there were more items on the menu that I wanted to try.

I cried

by jcr76

tears of joy after trying this place for the first time. I'm a fan of gazpacho and Paulies serves the freshest. I later tried the salmon sandwich. The filet on this sandwhich is huge and delicious. Shrimp on a BLT??!! Well why not. The shrimp BLT was a nice suprise and like the other sandwichs...D'licious! It's a quaint little place perfect for lunch and easy for dinner.

  • Pros: Clean, cute, delicious

CRAVE THEIR SALADS!

by TRUEHOUSTONIAN

I?M OBSESSED WITH THEIR GRILLED CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD! I AM NOT A TYPICAL ONLY LIKES ONE LETTUCE LEAF AND A CROUTON GIRL, SO FOR ME TO ACTUAL NEED TO HAVE THIS SALAD, IS A BIG DEAL. MY FIANCE LOVE?S THEIR SHRIMP PASTA DISH AS WELL, BUT I CAN?T GET OVER HOW MUCH JUICY CHICKEN IS IN THERE =) IT?S DEFIANTLY A GREAT LITTLE HANG OUT!

  • Pros: THEIR SALADS AND COOKIES ARE MY FAVORITES
  • Cons: THE SERVICE ISN'T ALWAYS AS NICE, THERE IS ONE WAITRESS WHO MAKES UP FOR ALL THE OTHER STAFF, BUT IT'S STILL WORTH IT!

Average food, lousy service

by jlicious

Unfortunately, I will never go back to this restaurant even though it is so close to my home. Since we just had a baby, cooking has not really been an option and we had been ordering out to Paulie's almost once a week, and recommending it to relatives who come by to visit the baby.

I recently learned that my baby has very serious food allergies and I'm on a strict diet for breastfeeding and it limits me to what I can eat. I ordered something to go and when it got home I was nervous the dish had an ingredient that was not part of the diet. Concerned I called to ask about it. They accused me of lying and asked me to bring the dish in. I did, and to clarify what the ingredient was, the staff insulted me, insinuating maliciousness and that I was enjoying wasting my time coming back up to the restaurant, starving and really just wanting to eat.

Save your time and money and go to any number of comparable restaurants with better atmosphere and better service on Westheimer.

  • Pros: Quick
  • Cons: Bad service, little parking, expensive to comparable restaurants in the area

Order the Shrimp Sandwich

by sunshine33

A new take on the traditional BLT fare, their grilled shrimp BLT sandwich is bursting with flavor. I've had this sandwich 3 times, and I'm stuck on it. They'll substitute a wheat roll for the white if you ask. It's served with a side of eggless potato salad. They use red new potatoes, and I like that it's not slathered with heavy mayo. The Mediterranean pasta with pesto vinaigrette is also a winner. It has shell pasta with spinach, celery, calamata olives, artichoke hears, and feta. Ladies, the "small" serving is the perfect portion size.

I normally eat here on weekend afternoons, and the one downside to this place are a few of the cashiers/order takers. How can I put this ever so kindly . . . but these guys are afflicted. Sleep deprivation, hangover, or just plain dumb. I can't figure it out. I've been told the staff working days are on top of their game, so I'll make a point to stop in on my lunch hour one of these days.

  • Pros: remarkable sandwiches, salads, great location
  • Cons: parking, weekend staff

Perfect for an Italian lunch break, a gourmet pick-up or a casual dinner and drink after work.

by Contributor

In Short
The environs are loft-like in their chic minimalism, but the walls are warmed by local artists' work, all for sale. Along with the recently added pizzas, you'll find stalwart Italian fare like fettuccine and grilled shrimp with roasted tomato sauce, alongside seared tuna sandwiches with wasabi mayonnaise. The crowd includes the yoga set, the St. John's mom with kids in tow and Montrose's gay contingent.
