They have free internet, there's never a wait, and i feel very comfortable eating there by myself. very american food, but with some healthy twists. the queso is awesome i've never had any service issues
- Pros: very reasonable prices
- Cons: parking
Used to be so good...

I also used to love Ziggy's -- I lived near here a few years ago and came all the time. I went this week for the first time since 2007 and was sorely disappointed. The food was still pretty good (although I missed the free chips!), but the addition of wait staff has actually caused a decline in service. I've never felt so rushed, and like I was such a bother to a wait staff. Plus, one of the nice things about Ziggy's was that it was healthier food at a decent price -- with the addition of an expected tip, it's not such a hot deal.
Ziggy's, I used to love you! Please change back to the lovely place you used to be...
- Pros: Healthy food, good portions
- Cons: Bad service

Used to love - not so much anymore

I absolutely adored this place for its casual atmosphere and great healthy food. The last two times I have gone and have been seriously disappointed. Fist, they are no longer counter service, they have waiters. Second, it seems that some of the ingredients have been changed. For instance, the nachos, which I adored before, seem to use a different kind of cheese that is not near as good. That or the quality of the cooking has just gone down. One more drawback - no more free chips which was a nice touch. BUT, I do still love their brownies!
- Pros: healthy
- Cons: service, decreased quality
Good Food, Really Bad Service
by Shaneye24 at Citysearch
The food here is good and the menu interesting. The problem is with the service :( I have been to both locations and would have to say that it's been some of the worst service I have received in this city. It's unfortunate cause I really like it and would like to go back but it's so annoying when you get such bad service repeatedly at a place. I have worked in the industry and I know when someone is in the weeds and when someone just doesn't care unfortunately at Ziggy's its the latter.
Great Menu, Poor Food

We went to the River Oaks location and I can say that it was anything but comfortable. It was August in Houston so you can imagine how hot it was; now imagine a restaurant with only one vent working. That translates into a casual restaurant that feels as if we were suffocating.
Poor ventilation aside, Ziggy's is a low key place that is great for a quick bite whether it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also have outdoor seating so dogs are welcome, although when we asked the employee behind the cash register about that, he said he didn't know anything about it. Well, perhaps Ziggy's needs to show their new employees' their web site.
I ordered the ostrich burger ($7) which I was really looking forward to ever since Fuddruckers stopped serving those years ago. At Ziggy's, healthy food is the emphasis so my burger was served on a whole wheat bun - not my favorite type of bread but hey, when in Rome, right? This burger turned out to be on my top three list of most disappointing foods I've ever consumed. The term "anti-climatic" comes to mind. It was hard to determine if there was even any meat in my burger since the size was so minuscule; and to add insult to injury, it tasted like 100 year-old leather that had been sitting out in the sun all day.
decided to splurge and also have the Idaho white and sweet potato French fries ($2.25). These also turned out to be a huge disappointment. Actually, the Idaho white French fries were OK, but I really disliked the sweet potato fries. I guess eating whole grain food just isn't my thing. I'll take refined whites any day.
My husband ordered the Angus burger ($6.50) which he liked, but of course his, too, was served on a whole wheat bun and he is a member of the white bread preference group as well.
I was not fond of my food but I won't give up on Ziggy's Healthy Grill; next time I'll try their Montrose location and have something different, like brunch
- Cons: Disgusting Ostrich Burger
Great food, great prices

I saw the good reviews and decided to give this place a try. The food was great, the place was clean, and the staff was very friendly. One staff membered offered up great suggestions for dinner. I can't wait to try the brunch menu one weekend.
- Pros: Good food, healthy alternative, friendly staff, clean
Great Lunch Spot

I really enjoy the food here! Healthy yet flavorful. I especially like their varieties of salads and the peculiar blend of flavors (like mango dressing with apples and feta cheese?!)--different, but surprisingly delicious!
- Pros: Excellent food, healthy, clean
- Cons: Someone was cooking garlic one day and the smell wove into my clothes
One of my favorite places!
by monkey34 at Citysearch
This is my favorite neighborhood hangout. I love that I can walk in there dressed up after work, or in my workout clothes on Sunday morning for brunch. I love the food, it's healthy, and I don't even feel guilty eating the french fries. They have a great atmosphere with cool music and interesting artwork. Definitely check it out!!
- Pros: Good food, good service, good atmosphere
- Cons: ?
Casual and healthy River Oaks cafe offers an array of exotic burgers including buffalo, kangaroo and ostrich, plus seafood and veggie dishes.
