Lord of the Onion Rings
by BarefootBec at Citysearch
This place is outstanding! The patio is pleasant, the food is healthy and delicious, and the location is convenient. One of the best reasonably-priced restaurants in Houston.
- Cons: service-always slow
Not the Middle Earth I know
by lindalaw at Citysearch
If you're a Hobbit/Lord of the Rings fan and wish to have an authentic Middle Earthian experience this is not the place. Hobbits are known for loving their food. Although portions match a Hobbit's appetite, the food itself would disappoint even a Sackville Baggins. I had the grilled chicken wrap and was so disgusted by the odd flavor that I had to poach off my husband's plate. He had a burger and although the carrot sticks instead of fries was an amusing heathly alternative, the burger too had an odd flavor. It was novel to see our favorite characters' names on the menu, but the food attached to the names was off the mark considering it focused on a people that rely on sausage and kidney pie. The atmosphere though cozy didn't have enough Hobbit memorabilia to make me think that a true fan of the author managed the place.
- Pros: Neat Location
- Cons: food was odd tasting, hard to find
VERY PLEASED
by carey at Citysearch
I tried the Hobbit Cafe after seeing it voted one of Houston's best vegeterian restaurants and I was very pleased. The patio looked very inviting, but I deceided to eat inside. The walls are painted in cozy colors (mossy green and dusty mauve) with charming pictures on the walls. And the food is even better. I started off with the fresh fruit salad- it was incredible. Then I had a wrap and it was HUGE!!! The wraps come with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese and your choice of any two other items such as avacodos, grilled veggies, taboulie, chicken and tuna (you can have these grilled or in salad form). My wrap had avacodos and grilled veggies and I ended up bringing most of it home. The daily herbal fruit tea was very refreshing and and sweet enough not to need any sugar. I will definetly come back.
- Pros: portion size, atmosphere, menu diversity
- Cons: kind of hard to find
