Always good food

We love Goode Co Seafood. If we are ever in the mood for seafood, we know that Goode Co could never disappoint! The empanadas that come with the meal are really good! the best empanadas ever! The gumbo is delish and has shrimp and oysters in it. It has to be the best gumbo i have ever had! We eat here pretty often and never had any problems with the service or food. We will definitely be coming back to eat here again.

I had gumbo and a fried flounder poboy, and it was delicious. Tasted very fresh. Loved it! I live in Austin, and I can't wait to go back.

8 visits and have never had a bad meal at Goode Seafood Co

After needing to be at Rice University for a 3 part dental seminar over the course of an 18 month period, I can honestly say that Goode Seafood Co will be on the top of my list of places to visit, if I am ever there again.

I would love to have the recipe for the seafood cocktail because if I never do get to go back, I can not possibly imagine life without it. :))

Go To Taco Bell Instead. It Will Be Better.

This food was awful. $50 down the toilet. I got the fried shrimp and catfish. It was basically a flavorless meal. The shrimp was marginal. The fish had some kind of powdery/grainy texture to it and didn't really taste like catfish. I did get a good laugh from the minuscule amounts of tartar and red sauce they sent with it. It's kind of sad but the fries that came with it were the best part of the meal. That was $19 totally wasted. I also ordered hush puppies to go with it that would have been okay had they not been stuffed with what appeared to be pecans. I like pecans but I don't like them in my hush puppies. My brother got the seafood etouffee that was I think $18. I didn't ask him how it was but I can tell you the serving they sent was ridiculously small. It couldn't have been more than a pint and was probably less. Go spend your restaurant money somewhere else (yes, even Taco Bell) and you will be doing yourself a favor.

Great fried shrimp.

Their fried shrimp is crispy and not overly breaded. They have the best appetizer - but I can never get the name right - it's crab with what I would call ceviche in a parfait glass. The crab is much better than the shrimp. My husband got the shrimp and there wasn't much shrimp in it.

I've gone many times and keep hoping they will change their recipe for french fries. They have the WORST french fries. Mushy even when they are hot out of the vat. Get the rice instead, it has some good stuff in it.

Fresh seafood in the heart of Houston

I used to be vegetarian, but after a while, the protein just isn't there. So I went back to eating seafood, mainly fish, but Houston isn't exactly known for fresh seafood. I heard good stuff about Goode Seafood Co, so after a particularly long week on top of PMS, I decided to reward myself with a meal here. Ok, so the ambience isn't all that, but in a way, it adds to the fun dining experience. They also have pretty decent wine/alcoholic selections, but it is the seafood that is the main draw, of course. When that steaming platter was served to me, man oh man, it was love at first succulent bite. Every meal has been pure satisfaction. I actually came for a bit over a good solid week, before I reluctantly tore myself away to try other restaurants offering seafood, and eventually resorting back to home meals out of a crying wallet. So far, every other establishment I've been to pales in comparison. Once my wallet gives me the go-ahead, I think I should pay the Goode Seafood Co. another visit, hopefully soon.

Long John Silver would be better

This has to be the worst seafood in Houston, or at least the worst seafood I've eaten in Houston. I used to like this place, but I haven't frequented it in awhile and now I won't return. Portion size is extremely small for the price. The mesquite grilled shrimp were small, tough, overgrilled. I had fried oysters which weren't bad, but they were very small and tasteless. Empanadas were exceptionally awful and tasted as if they fished some of the contents out of a drainage ditch. After dissection, we couldn't quite figure out the contents of the empanadas. I'm baffled at how a seafood restaurant that once had a good reputation could sink to such a lousy food level.

And to top off the lousy food, we were seated in a booth by a window with mini blinds that were caked with grease and food particles. Not real appetizing. I think Goode Co Seafood needs to be powerwashed.

Seafood-centric diner - family friendly.

Every time we're in town, we go to Goode Company Seafood. While it might not be the fanicest seafood in town, it's got a good diner atmosphere and a ton of fresh (not frozen) seafood selections. If it's not fresh and in season, then they aren't serving it.

The campechana is amazing. I'd recommend either the shrimp and crab or just plain crab. It's served in an ice cream sundae glass, filled to the top and overflowing, the base surrounded by tortilla chips. Jalapenos are served on the side to taste.

The cornmeal encrusted fried oysters are also great, served with seafood rice or fries (though the fries could use a second dip in the oil, as they are kind of mushy, rather than crispy) and a seafood empenada.

To be honest, I haven't tried much else - these two items keep us coming back. When crawfish are in season, you can order a whole peel and eat platter.

The service is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. This is a good place for famlies, as the atmopshere is lively and busy. Sometimes there is a long wait and they do not seat incomplete parties. Parking can be tight, but there is an extra lot across the street, near the recycling center and plenty of street parking.

In Short
This bustling seafood emporium is cleverly built into a novelty railroad car. The brilliant menu of Texas Gulf Coast, Mexico, and Louisiana culinary influences appeals to the masses. Expect accomplished frying (oyster po'boys, stuffed crab, shrimp) but equally fine mesquite grilling. In fact, the grilled catfish con salsa verde, topped with buttery onions and avocado pico de gallo, is fantastic. Dinners are generous, served with garlic bread, empanada, seafood rice, red beans, hush puppies or vegetables.

Great Food and 'Ritas!

The best appetizer is the crab cocktail (don't recall the exact name) with chips and is served in a parfait glass with avacado and chopped jalepenos on the side...INCREDIBLE! The margaritas are really good, too!
