Best Seafood in Houston

I've been going to Little Pappa's for years and it is my favorite place to go for seafood in Houston. The staff are alway courteous and friendly, they have great specials and you don't get the "chain restaurant" feel that you do in most other Pappa's chain eateries.

• Pros: Central location, plenty of parking
• Cons: It is a small place and can fill up on weekends

The Scene
As the name suggests, this Montrose eatery is a smaller (and less frantic) version of the popular Pappas Seafood House operations. Expect to dine with an eclectic crowd ranging from charcoal-suited River Oaks businessmen and their well-coiffed spouses to casual, hang-loose loungers from the bohemian quarter.

The Food
Fried or pan-broiled fish and a variety of shellfish-based sauces lead the menu. An order of just-right spinach crab cakes in creamy wine sauce, crowned with a zesty pico de gallo, is far too good--and too filling--to serve simply as an appetizer. Pair it with a cup of gumbo, chowder or bisque and you've got a first-rate meal. And don't overlook a Greek salad that's larger and more appealing than you might imagine. Desserts are only so-so and easily avoided. After wrestling an entire fried seafood platter to a draw, that may be a blessing.

Great Seafood!!! Terrible Service

Best Blacken Catfish and clam chowder I have every had. Almost the worst service that I had as well. Waiters are trying to take care of too many tables at once. Poor guy that waited on us was getting pulled in every direction. Water was never refilled, finally had to ask another waiter for more tea. Besides the service, the seafood is fresh and very tasteful

Great seafood restaurant for business, pleasure or just family. Fresh fish always, great salads, and professional service. It's the feel of the fancy restaurant without the price. A definite recommendation for good seafood.
