Great Value, Cool Setting!

Service
The service at Chuy's is excellent. The next few times I go, I will take note of any exceptional waiters/waitresses and post them here.
Food
I eat alot of Mexican food, and sample the beef fajitas everywhere I go to figure out what is great and what is good. Chuys has good beef fajitas, but the main reason I go back is because of the service and value.
Value
The prices here are very reasonable, especially if you are sharing fajitas. Here is a price breakdown of my typical Friday evening for 2.
Fajitas for 1 - $11.29
2 Margaritas - $7
2 Waters - Free
$21 = total with tax and tip.
$10.50 /person, not bad at all!
$13 = total with tax and tip without drinks.
$6.50 / person, that's cheaper than McDonalds!

- Pros: Value
- Cons: Tortillas too thick
Never again
by happyfeet123
I loved Chuy's. I used to eat there when I lived in Austin, and I started eating there in Houston on Westheimer when I moved here. The food is pretty good: I love the jalapeno cream dip and chips! he margaritas are yummy. But it is always packed, and you never get an accurate wait time from the hosts. The service is usually rushed... you can tell there is a lot of turnover because you rarely see the same person 2 times.
On Thursday the 23rd of May, my boyfriend, daughter and I went to Chuy's at like 6:30 pm... the place was so busy. We waited only 10 minutes, and when we sat down, we each had drinks and appetizers, we totally wolfed down all of the food because we were starving and the queso was awesome. We ordered chicken fajitas to split, and when it came we ate one taco each and were going for seconds when my boyfriend noticed something in the onions he was scooping up for his taco: A familiar insect that starts with "R" that guidelines won't let me say!!!! It was not very small either, grilled into our fajitas!
We alerted our server, who alerted the manager, who was apologetic, but seemed resigned to losing our business, so she didn't offer to comp any future drinks (because lord knows we would never EAT there again, but maybe we would drink), nor did she take my information to have the General Manager call me, or even give me her business card. I work in sales, so I understand being caught off guard and not knowing the right thing to do when a situation this bad occurs, but you MUST follow up at the very least.
Needless to say I have a bad taste in my mouth, and I knew it was my duty to inform future patrons.
- Pros: jalapeno cream dip
- Cons: stressful and loud
Chuy's Restaurant Fahitas
by aliceannputman45
Well if you like fahitas a la' coachroach, this is the place to be!!!!
Picture this, Thursday night, lot's of people and the fahita's come out sizzling. At first glance they looked great, but on closer inspection there was a grilled huge coachroach cooked with the onions and peppers.
The manager was not very concerned, he offered to buy our dinner. I would hope so! In any case We will not go there ever again and I urge anyone else not to go as well.
How can a coachroach get cooked in our meal and go unnoticed by the whole staff. There must be a whole lot of them in the kitchen. Very Scary!
Plus the place stinks like a dirty dishrag. Than should have been my first clue!
Consider youself warned!
Never a bad choice!!!

I was born in Austin so it's safe to say I grew up eating at Chuy's. I've tried other Tex-Mex places, but nothing compares to what Chuy's has to offer. The queso is by far the best I've had in my life, and I've been to a lot of places between here and Arizona. My favorite dish is the Elvis Presley Combo. It's a ton of food, but you get an awsome array of their enchiladas with 1 blue corn chicken, 1 beef, and 1 cheese. The Baja Fish Tacos are also amazing with the fried fish, red cabbage, and with a drizzle of the jalapeno cream sauce. Parking at this location can be tricky, but just be patient and it'll happen. I'm pretty sure some of the waiters recognize me and my girlfriend when we go...pretty much once a week. Love this place.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Food, QUESO
- Cons: Parking (at Westheimer location), prices have risen lately
Get the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken
by leggychick
Love the food. Very delicious and inexpensive. I would recommend the fried chicken. Fried chicken in general has been my absolute favorite since I was a kid, so I can safely say with confidence that this is the BEST fried chicken ever!
- Pros: Food
- Cons: I don't know yet
Chuck E Cheese or Disneyland?
by FoodTechHouston
Parents and their kids have destroyed this place. It is like a day care center. It is like eating in a elementary cafeteria. People are even starting to bring kids birthday parties into the place. Food is still great, and cheap, but we will never go back. I will have to wait till I go back to Austin to eat here again. Please get a baby sitter next time. It is not pleasant eating next to screaming babies.
- Pros: Great Food, Cheap Eats
- Cons: Babies Babies Everywhere!
I adore their creamy jalapeno sauce!
by ldewild
A friend turned us onto this place in 2003. And if I don't get my Chuy's on a weekly basis, I go through major withdrawal! I love their creamy jalapeno sauce that comes with the chips. And since this place is perpetually crowded, we usually like to get there right at 11:00-ish on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Otherwise the parking lot is PACKED and there will be a wait. I also love getting my "usual" - custom enchiladas with chicken and queso sauce (sometimes I get the tomatillo sauce). My hubby usually gets the fajitas. Their pico is usually VERY good. And their queso is AWESOME. I totally recommend this place!
- Pros: Good music - they have a jukebox so you can pick whatever you want!
- Cons: Parking lot - needs to be MUCH bigger. Also, there's usually a wait.
Good food at a good price
by droxford
Chuy's is very good food for the price. Is there better Tex-Mex in Houston? Yeah. Pappasito's is a little better, but at over twice the price. Chuy's service is average - not great, but not bad. Parking is limited and difficult. They have a ton of tex-mex sauces, which allows a good variety on how the enchiladas and other dishes will taste. I have never gotten stale chips at Chuy's. I've never tried their fajitas - just their tacos, enchiladas, chalupas and other tex-mex. Again, they're not the best in the city, but they're very good. Because of Chuy's affordability and good food, it makes it easy to frequent this restaurant.
- Pros: affordible, tasty
- Cons: limited parking
It's a bar
by coog78
Cool place to go drink Margaritas and eat appetizers. The food here is way below average. The service is pretty awful as well. I've come here twice, the first time for drinks and sat at the bar. I had fun like I would going out drinking. Next time, I ate and experienced the restaurant. I won't be doing that again. This is basically frathouse meets girls gone wild, which is great for a bar.....but not for dinner!
- Pros: drinks
- Cons: food, service
Great Happy Hour! bad parking :(
by xbindux
I agree that the food really isn't that great. I'm sure there are better restaurants out there, but Chuys has reasonable prices. The margaritas are really tasty, esp. the margatinis. Watch out it gets crowded fast though. WARNING: If there is no parking, do NOT park your car in the back lot near the apartment complex. I got my car broken into in broad daylight, and the cop said a)this happens all the time and b) he wouldn't even file a police report for it. So much for a nice area. Otherwise, nice place!
- Pros: drinks, decent service
- Cons: parking, space inside fills quickly esp for small restaurant
