the ambience and decor is much to be desired of, but the space is big enough to accomodate huge crowds. the buffet is obviously it's highlight: an extensive assortment of food, with a mini sushi bar and make-ur-own stirfry. the food quality is a little-bit-more-than decent and reasonably priced, but it's a perfect place to satisfy your palette and belly. a great for a family lunch/dinner or for a group of friends. *

  • Pros: extensive buffet, sushi bar
  • Cons: ambience, parking

Best of all the Asian buffets I've been to. On week-ends, they put out good seafood too. Excellent selection of sauces, and superb Thai soup.

This is not what you would expect from a normal chinese food buffet. Many different foods to select from including mongolian grill, sushi and pho noodle buffet.

The service is friendly but not invasive and the cost is definitely reasonable. Sometimes it's a little loud on weekends due to kids and alot of business, but that's a good thing, too.

Their mango chicken and crispy honey chicken are to die for.

Crab legs are good, but a little tough and messy to get into...the crawfish could be seasoned better.

My only complaint is that the sushi buffet would not serve me seaweed salad ala carte...I had to get it off the buffet in a tofu pouch over sushi rice...I didn't mind but felt wasteful throwing away the rice and tofu pouch when I was done eating the salad.

Stay away from the stuffed crab, it's not your typical herb seasoned breadcrumb filled variety....took one bite only to find that it was filled with mayo based seafood salad like you would get at a Subway sandwich shop. Last time I checked mayo was NOT supposed to be cooked in this manner.

  • Pros: lots to choose from, sushi, reasonably priced
  • Cons: some "mystery" dishes

You would not believe what we had found. We did not realize this great buffet (because it just say ORIENTAL GOURMET.) So glad that we have found it. It is big & tasty. Excellent food varieties: Chinese, Vietnamese, & Sushi. Service was awsome. You have got to try it. We took a few business cards home so we can tell.......

  • Pros: beatiful decoration and spacious
  • Cons: need to state that it is a buffet restaurant so people would try

In Short
A mix of large booths and tables make up the majority of the ambiance at this bustling Asian buffet. Although there are two other Houston-area locations, Clear Lake boasts a dedicated sushi chef and a Mongolian stir-fry bar where diners can choose to work in their veggie servings or focus on meat. The massive buffet features other popular Chinese dishes, Gulf Coast seafood, Japanese items such as pot stickers, Vietnamese noodle dishes (including pho) and spring rolls, chicken lettuce wraps and more.

My parents have taken to treat all large numbers of guests at Oriental Gourmet, and with its large buffet selection and variety of Asian food (from Mongolian grill to Vietnamese spring rolls to Japanese sushi), this restaurant has come to be one of the family favorites. Oriental Gourmet offers good service and a vast dine in area/party rooms, so its easy to take large groups there. The only compitition between Asian buffets around Clear Lake is East Star!

  • Pros: Great for large groups, good service, large buffet selection
  • Cons: Sometimes not as fresh

If you are looking for a place to try a wide variety of Asian favorites, then go to Oriental Gourmet. I have frequented this restaurant for years, and it has only improved over time. The sushi is made fresh in front of you, the entrees taste great, and the deserts are fantastic.

  • Pros: Great food, Good value, Fast seating
