Warning

I went to Pappasito's 5/22/09 for margaritas and appetizers with a friend. We decided to swing by another place for a minute after finishing. It was far less of a hassle to use one vehicle instead of both of us driving separate cars to the same place. When we returned 45 min later my car had been towed and I had to pay $200 to get it back. A very high price to pay for margartias and appetizers. I would completely understand if I left my car in the parking lot wthout eating in the restaurant but that was not the case. I will never return to this location.
Very Unique TexMex

Again, a lunch crowd and with an urge for Mexican. This was my first time at a Pappasito's and man was it good! The service was very slow, we were about a table of 7 so not too big a group; but we were there almost TWO HOURS, lots of of spent saying "where is that waitress?". The food, however, was really good. They have a really broad menu, so there is something for everyone. The portions were HUGE, so I recommend sharing. All in all, a good experience, but I'll hope for a better server next time.
- Pros: Lots of good choices
- Cons: SLOW service
The Best Mexican Food in Town for over 20 Years
by gueneverejj
I have been eating here for decades and the food cannot be beat. It is consistently the best Mexican food in Houston. A recent reviewer states their marinade has change for the Fajitas, I haven't had them in a while so I hope not...as they are the best in town. I usually have cheese enchiladas or a shrimp dish. I have been to dozens of places around town but no one does Mexican food as good as this family does. Their flour tortillas are the best in town.
- Pros: Great food consistently for over 20 years
Fajitas gone wrong - Changed marinade
by amateurfoodcritic
Pappasitos has changed their fajita marinade. These are not the fajitas we grew up eating for the last 24 years. What were they thinking? You don't change a good thing. Bring back the old marinade please.
- Pros: Old fajita marinade
- Cons: New fajita marinade

In Short
Brace yourself for the noise, circus-like atmosphere and, during peak times, a long wait for a table. None of which has discouraged diners who have made this chain popular in Houston. Who can fault sizzling platters the size of manhole covers, great value and seemingly indefatigable service? Tortilla soup, Pappasito's famous fajitas and shrimp diablo are all worth a try. If strolling mariachis who sing "La Bamba" every five minutes get tiresome, escape to the pleasant patio.
The Best in Texas

This restaurant is always clean. The service is excellent and friendly. The portions are huge and the quality of food is unbeatable! The most consistent restaurant we have been to in the Houston area. We highly recommend Pappasito's Cantina on Richmond to everyone!
Quality food

I found the food here very good. I've seen the kitchen and it is kept very clean. The lunch rush packs the place, but that shouldn't discourage you from trying it out. Be sure to get a rita if you go at night. My food favorite is the beef fajitas.
