Overpriced blase food

Yes the interiors are lovely and elegant, but the food is not up to par. Perhaps I ordered wrong but thought the "specials" would be a good bet. I was disappointed with the smoked duck on bean sprouts, the duck lacked that duck taste! I've tasted better duck from divey Chinatown places that have the food hanging in the window! $3.75 for a small cup of wonton soup? Yikes! Sorry this is one place I will not recommend.
- Pros: located in Galleria
- Cons: Food quality, overpriced
A posh and welcoming Galleria-area restaurant serving classic Asian cuisine.

In Short
Deep-purple walls, lush leather seats and well-manicured foliage ring the dining room, creating an elegant atmosphere. Polished waitstaff acknowledge regulars (like George and Barbara Bush) and put newcomers at ease. A scallops and prawns mix is a sweet-and-sour delight. Green beans spiked with ginger and mustard green roots successfully marries fire and earth flavors. Other menu favorites include leg of lamb with a spirited hot pepper sauce and longtime favorite moo shu pork.

Love the food....
by jbsmuss
I really love the food and the atmosphere is very nice as well. The price is still too high though. I dont mind spending it on occasion as I do feel like it is superior food to almost all other restaurants in Houston, but they should just drop the dishes by a couple bucks a piece. The staff could be a little more friendly as well
Escellent Cuisine

Service could be better, but most of dishes couldn't!
Return of the PHoenix is the best of an excellent array of house specialties and the soups are must (hot and sour is my favorite). A little pricier than rated, but affordable for locale.
best chinese

going downhill

Well, first off Hunan is a great chinese resteraunt.
I have been going here for the last 13 yrs for sure.
The tofu is just excellent. However something has come to my attention especially for the last 2-3 yrs. The service just SUCKS. the host or hostess in the front is cocky and the waiters seem to not speak english, and just nod- smthn one should expect from a lower class chinese resteraun, but when im shelling out 80-120 dollars for a family of four. i expect a little better treatment. anythoughts on that?
A Delicious Lunch Hour
by stephanies12
For nearly two years now my co-worker and I have made Hunan our favorite lunch spot. I have exactly one hour for lunch and I can usually get in and out with time to spare. The food? It's excellent. My favorite? The sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, spring roll, salad, and egg drop soup. Everything is prepared to perfection. AND they don't mind special requests such as "No tomatos please." As far as value is concerned, it's an excellent deal for the money-minded quick lunchers because the price includes iced tea. I go back as often as possible!
- Pros: Cost effective, Fast service, delicious cuisine
- Cons: Busy Galleria area, Not family oriented
Overpriced and overrated !!!

EXPENSIVE CHINESE FOOD DOESN`T MAKE IT BETTER !! Jfleetwood
I`ve eaten the shrimp lo-mein and shrimp fried
rice and was frankly very dissapointed ....the fried
rice was greasy and the sauce for the lo-mein over
powered the the taste of the ingredients ....I`v
eaten in Beijing and Hong Kong more than once.
- Pros: nice surroundings, good service, good neighborhood
- Cons: Too expensive, food needs help, food needs help
