Consistently good but not exceptional
by z_man1025 at Citysearch
My wife and I have dined here on numerous occasions, most recently a few weeks ago. We lvoe the ambience and the food never fails to satisfy. However the staff are sometimes left wanting (wine service was not knowledgable or broad) and the arrogance is what I'd expect in Rome or Paris, not in Houston.
Overall, steaks were cooked as requested and delivered promptly. Appetizers and desserts were great. Food is very good - let down by poor service
- Pros: Steak
- Cons: Service
Fancy filet mignon served in a must-see setting that includes a copper-inlaid bar and a luxurious lounge.

In Short
With two giant lion sculptures guarding the entrance, the United States eagle emblem in the lobby and the wine lockers displayed with gold nameplates, this place will make you feel protected, if not exclusive. Appetizers include smoked Norwegian salmon and lobster and crab cakes. For dinner, try the towering 14-ounce filet mignon--a dry-aged, melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece. Other steak choices range from 14 to 24 ounces: sirloin, porterhouse or a fancy-pants steak au poivre with Courvoisier cognac cream sauce. The baked potato is a full pound.
Much Better

I originally thought this restaurant was overrated but after visiting it for the second time I changed my mind. Our food and service were excellent this time around and I'm looking forward to dining there again in the future. Thanks Sarah D.
- Pros: wine list, excellent service
