Great food, indifferent service
by sheilabac
We went yesterday to celebrate a friend's birthday. When I called for a reservation the gal asked if it was a special occasion, and I told her what it was. Maybe because we were ordering off the Houston Restaurant Week menu, the birthday girl got no special treatment, not so much as a candle on her dessert.
Our waiter was not what you'd expect in an upscale restaurant. We had to ask for lemon with our seafood, ask for black pepper and grated cheese for the pasta, and when we inquired about the 4 types of cheeses served on the antipasta, he had to go ask someone, and then only came back with the name of one.
At the table next to us the birthday boy was treated to a very special looking dessert adorned with a candle.
I have been to Acodoro's several times, and this is the first time I've had any complaints. The service was flawless in the past.
The wine prices are very inflated. They were out of the wine that we wanted, the most afforable, and refused to substitute another for the same price. We passed on the wine and had cocktails instead.
The waiter also couldn't answer the question, "What cocktails do you have?" The only one he knew was the house special.
When we arrived we parked in the mall parking, when we came out, it had suddenly become "Valet". That is really absurd. It's a public parking lot for the entire strip center, and they just set out cones.
- Pros: All our dishes were good
- Cons: Service
food is ok...but customer service needs improvement
by miriamasole
we have been going to Arcodoro for years....we have always enjoyed the food and had great servers about 95% of the time. we have always thought the restaurant was kid friendly for brunch as well. we have a child with food allergies and we specifically asked her brunch to be cooked a certain way...the food had one of her allergens in it and when we asked about it, we heard the manager tell our server...just tell them we cooked it the way they asked. he was snarky and rude and we could hear him too! he never came by the table nor spoke to us, instead our server apologized to us and was incredibly nice. we were enjoying our company immensely and probably overstayed our welcome at the table, so instead we got glares from the floor manager. depsite the good food, we won't be returning...ever.
- Pros: some dishes, patio
- Cons: customer service
Bad food. Expensive.
by lucyrincon
I went to Arcodoro looking for a nice italian restaurant to a Saturday dinner. The valet service was reasonable for the region. When I ordered the food, I figured out an expensive place that serves frozen foods. I ordered a lasagna and my wife a gnochi. Our order took more than 20 minutes to arrive. The lasagna and the gnochi were heavy and the taste was similar to frozen foods found in the supermarket. it was uneatable.I don't recommend at all.
- Pros: parking
- Cons: food,price,service
Overpriced and Sloppy Service
by terryitaly
The food was mediocre, the service was sloppy and the prices were excessive for what we got. Maybe that is the reason why they are slow now?
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Service-Food-Price
Flawless!

Last week my husband and I went out to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. My Husband had made a reservation at a certain famous steakhouse in the Galleria area. We got there on time but the host had us wait for 35 minutes! since it was a busy night we didnt mind but I kind of noticed people are getting tables without reservation as soon as they walk in. So I told my husband I have lost my appetite and would like to go home. We left the steakhouse and were going to our car and noticed this beautiful patio with cozy little furniture and decided to try our luck to get a table if not maybe have a glass of champagne before we go home. We approached the hostess and told her we dont have reservations but would like to eat if it is possible. She said they are very busy but would try her best to get us a table as soon as possible then she asked for our name and walked us to the patio and told the server to get our drink oders while she is trying to get us a table. Few minutes later the manager came to our table and asked us how we were doing and told us that he is working on getting us a romantic table which I thought was very cute. In about 15 minutes the hostess came back and told us that our table is ready, but we were having so much fun that decided to stay in the patio for another drink and she told us that it is ok and she would hold the table for us. To make the long story short we sat down at our table and my husband asked the server if they served steak and he said perhaps one of the best filet mignon's in town and he was not lying! I was surprised such an authentic Italian restaurant serving such a great steak. When I told our server that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary he was more excited than us!! Within few minutes the manager comes to our table with our server and a cake and a small candle which I thought it was adorable and sweet.
Overall what started as a awful wedding anniversary, turned out to be one of our best nights out, ever. Thank you Arcodoro for all your hard work. You have earned a customer for life.
- Pros: Excellent service
Excellent!

This past Saturday was our first time here and we were more than pleased with both the food and the service. My husband and I are very particular when it comes to service and the staff did not disappoint! We were celebrating my husband's birthday and had our nephew and his girlfriend with us. My nephew's girlfriend is young and does not go out much and was nervous about ordering off of the menu. Our waiter made her feel at ease and helped her with the menu. This may seem like a small detail, but anytime a staff member makes a customer comfortable and happy, it is important to note. The staff was gracious, the food was outstanding, the portion sizes were just right, the wine and Preseco were good. This is our new favorite place to dine!
Awsome expierence

After reading an article in this months Cooking Light I was intrgued to go to Arcodoro and taste some authentic Italian food. The setting was outstanding, my Wife and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and could not have picked a more romantic place. Our Jourey continued with an excellent wine selection ( wines that I have not seen any where else). We took the waiters suggestion and sampled many of the special Sardian menu offerings and it was a big pay off. The Gnocchi Sardo was melt in your mouth fantastic as well as Susan's main course of Lamb cooked to perfection. In the hustle and bustle of city life this is a place to relax and enjoy. The article highlights the owners family and living a long healthy life. My wife and I both agreed we felt a sence of family in our expierence. Not only was our 5 year anniversary a memorable night; we plan to return with family for some pizza's (they looked great). We also plan on ordering some product on-line. Thanks for the Night!!!
- Pros: Wine list, Flavors, ambiance
- Cons: non
ARCODORO WAS A BUST!
by truptii
Although we arrived promptly at our reserved time, we were told to wait while others with no reservations were promptly seated (very aggrevating!) My wife had the lamb which was overcooked and tough (perfect if we needed our shoes repaired!). I had the rib eye which was fair, at best. The service was anything but attentive. We actually felt that we were a bother to the waiter who had more important things to do (still attempting to figure out what that was). And to top it off, after we ordered our dessert and were told it was on the way, they finalized realized they were out of the item (how can a restaurant run out of strawberries and whipped cream?). Ohhh, the coffee was horrible. So, we traveled all the way across the country to have a terrible dinner!
forget it!!

the pizza is ok but most of the other food is average but expensive. if you can deal with the worse service in the city and equally bad excuses, than this is your place.... they like to seat you at the bar for a drink before your table is ready, meanwhile there are plenty of empty tables, they are just trying to boost their bar sales..... good luck finding the manager too!!! once you find him "good luck", but you must find him first. if they are busy it may take for ever to get your bottle of wine because the manager is the only person that can go to the wine cellar to get your wine......make sure you order and get your wine before you order your food otherwise you will be eating before your wine even is brought to the table... shame shame

Best Italian In Houston
by kailuachick
If you are a regular at Olive Garden and consider that Italian, stay away from Arcodoro. This is real Italian food with great service and ambience. I have never been let down. Their grapparitas are a nice indulgence but a little pricery. Again, if you think Olive Garden is Italian, then Arcordoro is not the place for you.
- Pros: Food, service, atmosphere
- Cons: None
