What a nice surprise

by sheilabac

It was a beautiful day and my family wanted to sit outside for lunch. I had gotten a $10 gift card from Champps, so I suggested we try it.

Everything was much better than we expected. The menu is varied and there is something for everyone's taste. My gyro is very good, my son-in-law praised his double burger as better than his own version. That is one huge compliment from him. My daughter had the tortilla soup and Greek Chicken Salad, and both were delicious.

Every dish we saw being served looked extremely appetizing, and the portions are easily shareable.

We got there on noon on a Wed. and found parking, and were seated immediately.

The service couldn't have been better.

Our only complaint was the umbrellas don't work. They were damaged during Ike. Hopefully, management with rectify that quickly. Though it's only April, it was very warm outside today.

We will definitely be back.

  • Pros: Great food, service and prices
  • Cons: Outside umbrellas weren't working

Sports restaurant-bar draws fans who love the food as much as the game.

by Contributor

In Short
Using their original burgers-and-beer joint in St. Paul, Minn., as a base modl, this sports-themed chain is now a popular hangout for all ages nationwide. The memorabilia-loaded space is crowded with families and friends chatting over chili cheeseburgers, bourbon-glazed pork chops and large orders of soups and salads. On major game nights, the shiny wooden bar area is packed with small groups eyeing the monitors above while cheering or grumbling into their pints and fries.

Worth a visit

by jumbosrule

This HUGE place has a nice split of dining and bar atmospheres. If you are going to eat, the prices are a bit high for the food quality, but the slection is large and the things I have ordered have been good. Service is average which only stings when you remember the prices. I hope the management continues to improve their employee quality so that I can become a more frequent patron. The bar section is nice and there are great meeting opportunities, i.e. good looking men and women abound.

Awesome appetizers

by donnaaries

Great place for happy hour, 1/2 price appetizers. The cheesy crab bread and the buffalo wings were especially awesome.

rockin party

by csl

Now I understand why Champps is good!! Went there for the first time last night. It was karoke night. The place was packed, the music was great, and I met alot of new people. I will keep going back if it's that good in the future. And to top it off, the DJ, Jonathan, was fun, cute and kept the place going....

This is for the NEW location on Westheimer:

Fun, Friendly bartenders. I love that I can go in after all of the other restaurants are closed and get some good grub. Every time I go in, the staff makes me feel welcomed. Great place!!!!!

Who approves the recipes?

by mgaskins

My wife and I visited for dinner last week. The service was friendly and effective, the decor of the club was pretty charming, but the food was definitely questionable. Pork chops, green beans, and mashed potatoes - pretty easy, right? Wrong! The pork chops were ok but nothing I couldn't do better at home. The green beans were oily and apparently overcooked (they were surprisingly thin). The mashed potatoes were greasy and thick (about the consistency of grits). The manager came by and apologized for the potatoes. She also gave us a free coupon for our next visit. However, based on that experience, we do not expect to give it another shot.

Seems like a fun place for drinks, but I doubt I'll eat there again.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Location
  • Cons: Questionable recipes
