User Reviews for Miller Outdoor Theatre

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Viewing a performance at Miller Outdoor Theatre is reminiscent of a sixties lovefest. People bring the whole family, dogs included. I didn't notice any cats, but would not have been surprised to see them as well. Pick a mild night, and yo'll not have a better outdoor Houston Experience.

Pros: Family Oriented, Ambience, Price ($0.00)

Cons: Can be hot

4 Star Rating: Recommended

Grab a couple of beach chairs, or even blankets and pillows; pack a picnic, and pray for a cool breeze. A very good variety of shows each season. The one unpleasant note would be the heat; my family prefers to avoid July and August here, so we usually miss out on the Shakespeare Festival. If you go, remember your bug spray and bring water!

Pros: free seating, fun atmosphere, ok to bring chairs

Cons: not enough parking, heat in late summer

For college students with little money to spend, this is the perfect place to take a date. Venues from the Houston Symphony to Theater Under The Stars perform here free of charge, the same shows that are sometimes quite expensive when performed at conventional theaters. Tickets are available on the day of the performance for reserved seating (again, free). If you are one of the first in line, you can get front row seats. You can also opt to sit on the grass hillside behind the seating area. You can bring your own food and drinks, including alcohol. In spite of the fact that it's free, this outdoor theater is a very romantic, classy choice for that special date.

Pros: free, good seating, comfy atmosphere

Cons: difficult parking

I just called the main number there, and it was a recording that said "all evening events are ticketed"...does that mean I have to come early to pick up tickets, to sit on the grass?? I haven't been here in years, just want to be sure! I know its still free though - yee haw!

the great accoustics and ability to go into annother world, culture, or story with your friends and family along make the Miller Ousdoor theatre a great place to go on the weekend. Plus you may take a picnick basket and dine out, too.

Pros: free parking, wide range of venues, family friendly

Cons: outdoor only, mosquitos, houston heat

It is the premier place to go to see Houstons up and coming actors/actresses blossom. The performances are wonderful and you might just meet some new friends while enjoying the show.

One of the few places in Houston where you can take a picnic dinner to a free concert or play.  See the full editorial review.
