UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF

Finding the right surgeon is key, but his support staff is equally important. I picked the doc based on his exceptional qualifications, however, the experience with his staff was far from pleasant. I was assured there was no consultation fee and confirmed my appointment. As I was sitting in the office waiting to see the doc, Ms. Karen Ivy (staff) told me that unless I paid the fee, he would not be able to see me. I tried to tell her that I was informed that there would be no fee, but it fell on deaf ears. After returning home and confirming through past emails that there was no consultation fee, I called the office back. It was not until this time that Ms. Ivy wanted to "reconcile" their mistake and see me. She should have reconciled the situation WHILE I was there sitting in the office and not later when I have already returned home. I not only wasted my time and parking money to see the doctor, the experience was so offensive that I had to write this blog to warn others. Having a pleasant and professional staff is an important part of having surgery because they are the ones you see before and after. I would not recommend his services to others.

As Good As There Is

As a senior citizen and male executive, who was aging gracefully, but aging none the less, (although with a youthful body, because of past athletics and continued weight training) and having to interact with men and women in the business world several decades younger than me, I decided to look into aesthetic surgery for my face and neck...I consulted with other prominent aesthetic surgeons before visiting with Dr. Mark Schusterman...he suggested a short-scar rhytidectomy (face-lift), lower-eyelid blepharoplasty (baggy eyes) and corset platysmaplasty (for jaw banding and sagging)...I researched his credentials and spoke with other physicians regarding his background...when I discovered he had been Chairman of Plastic Surgery, with exceptional skills in microsurgery and aesthetic surgery, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, that, in itself, provided all the evidence I needed to know I would be in good hands.

I had the surgery in February of this year and the results are ASTOUNDING, but not unexpected from someone with Dr. Schusterman's credentials.

I found it interesting that a couple of his patients had the gall to complaint about staff (previous), lack of bedside manner, overbooking, etc. Did these patients think they were bringing their autos to a car wash???

While surgery is never something to which one looks forward, aesthetic surgery is profound?we're generally talking about one's face, people!!!

Just Google "botched plastic surgery" to get a look at the many celebrities and socialites, with $$$ millions, and the results they got!!!

I look some 25 years younger as a result of Dr. Schusterman's exceptional skills (face now goes with physique), and that's not just my opinion?that's what practically all people who didn't know me previously guess as my age!!!

If you seriously want to look like you looked 25 years ago, NATURALLY, consult with Dr. Schusterman!

Best Lips Ever Breastisis and Face TOO

There is a new implant in town and it's in my lips. No more painful juvaderm injections for me! Recently Dr. Schusterman performed this quick, in office proceedure and all my friends want lips like mine. But here is the real skinny...it hurts a little, but not for long. I had my proceedure on a Friday and had an excuse to take it easy for the weekend. I took the oral pain medicine and applied ice on schedule for the first twenty four hours. I had some "lip awareness" but no real pain. By Monday I was back at work with lucious lips. This Dr. and his staff were delightful, professional, AND in fact, I think I will go back to fix a little of this and a little of that.

So as promised I went back for a little of this and a little of that and let me tell you what I got! A face that invites very young men to flirt with me and breastisis that people talk to! OMG is that why the young men! No one looks at my face anymore...or perhaps it is true that I look like my daughter.

Thanx Dr. Shusterman you made me jail bate! What i mean by that is if any one of these boys wants to do more than flirt and i have a moment of weekness I could go to jail! AND I AM CALLING YOU TO BAIL ME OUT!

The Best Reconstruction Surgeon I know!

I first saw Dr. Schusterman in 1990 for my first breast reconstruction after a breast cancer diagnosis, a modified mastectomy and radiation therapy. I could not be more happy with the results of my reconstruction. Dr. Schusterman has always been so pleasant to deal with and was so accessible to me as a new patient. I always had the opportunity to speak to him personally over the phone if I truly had concerns. Dr. Schusterman did wonderful work that has been complimented on by a number of doctors that I have seen through the years. All agree that it looks great and he did a superb job. I recently have developed a problem with the other breast and did not hesitate in calling Dr. Schusterman. He is presently in the process of reconstructing my second breast, using a different method from the first, but no less successful. I am confident that it will be as beautiful a result as the first. I have found that his staff is very accomodating and pleasant to deal with. I love this doctor and would very much recommend him to anyone. BRSchnell

Incredible experience!

It's actually hard for me to put into words what an incredible experience I had with both Dr. Schusterman and his staff! I visited two other very credible doctors in the area before deciding to go with Dr. Schusterman and I'm so glad I did! I was incredibly impressed with his honesty and expertise and my results are AMAZING! Both pre and post op his staff was incredible. I must have called at least 10 times bugging them about medication and silly instructions like when I can begin exercising, (which I know they told me a million times before.) Every time I called the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend Dr. Schusterman to all my friends and family!!

Fabulous doctor and staff

I recently had a consultation with Dr. Schusterman for a breast lift and implant replacement. His bedside manner is great and his staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I can't wait to have my surgery! While I was there I got a free skin care consultation at his medspa and had some Botox. I would definitely recommend him to my friends.

Compassion during difficult times...

I sought out a surgeon to help "put me back together" after my battle with breast cancer. I made the decision to have double mastectomies due to the high incidence of breast cancer in my family. I am still rather young and wanted to be sure I could recover my shape after removing my breasts. During my entire battle with cancer, I read and researched everything, every step of the way (procedures, risks, outcomes, how to pick a Dr, how to pick a treatment, what has the best survival rate, etc). All the leading books tell you to find a surgeon that is credible, has a strong reputation, extensive experience and a demeanor to support you in the last every step towards recovery. Dr Shusterman and his staff, especially Michele (his OR nurse) more than exceeded all of my expectations.

I interviewed several other surgeons but Dr Shusterman's experience, reputation and skills are phenomenal. His experience was extremly valuable in making decisions about what surgery would be best so soon after my chemo (risk factors, health issues post-chemo, long term effects of all options,etc). He took steps to minimize side effects of the surgery (first time i did not get nauseaus post op - which was a real treat after being so sick with chemo). His staff provided me with verbal and written information through every step which was a great resource to use when i got home and forgot everything i was told.

I really cannot put into words the healing spirit I encountered in working with Dr Shusterman and his staff. After seven months of treatments (finding the cancer to getting through chemo and finally to the point of a double mastectomy) my spirit and body were in a fragile state. The comfort, encouragement and support from Dr Shusterman and his team have really helped me to get my life back. It is now 13 months since I found my cancer and i FINALLY feel like i am almost back to the old me (new breasts and all!)

• Pros: Best surgeon for a wholistic approach to healing from cancer
• Cons: Parking - but they are moving to a new building soon!

Surgery with Dr. Shusterman

As a potential breast reconstruction patient, I consult ed with several doctors but consulted more than once with Dr. Shusterman. The magnitude of making the decision for this surgery coupled with choosing the right doctor could have been a mind-boggling experience. As I am 2 1/2 hrs. from Houston, I did not need to waste my time or anyone else's. However, I had such a great experience when I walked through the door of Dr. Shusterman's office on the first visit. The ladies of Dr. Shusterman's office went "above and beyond"! After talking with him, I realized he was committed to excellence and would be meticulous in surgery. I, as the patient, would benefit greatly from that. Additional questions were handled by Michelle, his surgery nurse, who was patient and understanding. My results?...fabulous .....great ....awesome. ...fantastic! Yes, if anyone is considering surgery I think Dr. Shusterman would be an excellent choice!

I went to Dr. Mark Schusterman for a second opinion for a breast augmentation and I am so happy that I did. As I walked into his office I was greeted by the front office and was then brought back not too long after by the Patient Coordinator . By this time I felt very comfortable and relaxed as the doctor walked in. It seemed as if we made a connection and he made me feel very comfortable. He answered all my questions and I was very informed of the surgical procedure. After reviewing his website and finally meeting him I knew at that moment that he was the right doctor for me. I trusted his expertise and his staff was very pleasant. The financing process was made very easy for me and before I knew it I was set up and ready to go for surgery within a few weeks. My results are amazing and my husband is very thankful. I would highly recommend Dr. Mark Schusterman to all my friends and family. He has made this whole process a very easy process and I am very thankful.

• Pros: Educated me about the procedure. Highly qualified doctor. Great results.
• Cons: Parking can be a bit crazy at times but he is in the Medical Center.

Very skilled surgeon, not much bedside manner

I went to Dr. Schusterman to get a breast augmentation because of his great credentials. His price was higher than the other doctors quote's I've gotten, but I'm glad I ended up paying the extra money, because the results were wonderful. However, his appointments are quick (I'm talking 5-10 minutes) and he often double books patients, so his waiting room is constantly filled and the wait time is around 45 minutes for a quick followup. He is very busy and barely will look at you during your appointments. Despite this, you can't argue that he isn't a good surgeon. I'd go back again based on his expertise alone.

• Cons: pricier than other plastic surgeons, long wait times, no bedside manner
