To Go Service is Consistently Off the Mark
by anamichele
I have called in to go orders 3 times over the last 6 months and not once has it gone smoothly.
First there was the long wait time of over 10 minutes to get to the person to take the order. The hold music and advertising was maddening. I could tell they kept picking up the phone and putting me back on hold because they were too busy to take my order. I was on my cell phone so I was loving the minutes that were racking up since the restaurant is not in my network ;) Anyway the phone displayed over 12 minutes of call time before I got to the person to take my order.
2nd trip, there was the 15 minute wait beyond the estimated pickup time. They told me the order would be ready at a certain time, I was there within 5 minutes of that time. I had to wait an additional 15 minutes beyond that, which is when I think they actually starting cooking the order. Good thing I had a book with me.
3rd and final trip was the final straw because not only did I have to wait beyond the wait time provided, the dessert that was a special request by my guests to whom I was bringing the dinner was missing . When I asked where the dessert was, the girl told me that they don't have that dessert anymore and had not for months. That was odd since I had just had it the week prior. I told her I wished I had known as I might have made different arrangements. Here is where she started digging her grave, she said she tried to call but I didn't answer, and I said really I did not receive the call and there are no messages or missed calls. She stumbled around and said that she could not leave a message because it said it was not a working number. I then asked, which was it I did not answer the phone or it was not a valid number? She finally blurted out "ok" I didn't call, we don't have the dessert what more do you want from me?". I told her and her manager all I wanted was the truth and not to be patronized. I would no longer return.
- Cons: Take out, Wait Time, Quality of Food, Staff Performance
GREAT fajitas!
by sarahbrowneyes
Pappasitos has the best fajitas I have ever had (and I love fajitas). The charro beans there are also my favorite. The thing that drives me insane when I go to Pappasitos is their rendention of Happy BIrthday. It is incredibly loud and obnoxious and needs to be toned down. The drinks are overpriced and if you order the cheaper margaritas, you get what you pay for. The platinum is much better but also way too expensive.
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Overpriced drinks, noise, OK service

In Short
Brace yourself for the noise, circus-like atmosphere and, during peak times, a long wait for a table. None of which has discouraged diners who have made this chain popular in Houston. Who can fault sizzling platters the size of manhole covers, great value and seemingly indefatigable service? Tortilla soup, Pappasito's famous fajitas and shrimp diablo are all worth a try. If strolling mariachis who sing "La Bamba" every five minutes get tiresome, escape to the pleasant patio.
A bit pricey

Great food, it's just a bit expensive... Plan on heading over early if it's dinner time!
Too noisy
by chrismark
It's too noisy and they give you too much food. Drinks are weak and expensive, because after two or three drinks--it's still too noisy.

They have the best Margaritas and Enchiladas ever! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
- Pros: Good Food, Atmosphere, Good Liquor
Mexibest

My wife and I always order the large Chili & Onions Enchilada dinner and have them split it. It is so large it is more than enough to satisfy the two of us. And although they don't have to do it, they always bring us two complimentary bowls of charred beans. Because of the enormous size of Pappasito's and the "barn" layout, it is always noisy in these restaurants. However because we are addicted to their enchiladas and the beans, we suffer through the noise level. We just don't stick around long after eating.
- Pros: Taste of Food, Inexpensive, Friendly
- Cons: Noise, Noise, Noise
Pappasito's in a nut shell
by nats925
Pappasito's food is decent; however, the atmosphere doesn't fit that of what a Mexican food restaurant should be. Almost all of the staff is young and inexperienced. It is too Americanized and too much like a franchise. There are a lot more Mexican restaurants in Houston that would be more worth your time.
We'll drive half across the country

We often go to Texas during our spring break and ALWAYS make it a point to eat at Papppasito's. A couple of times a different vacation for Spring break has been discussed but my husband always reminds us, "but we can't eat at Pappasito's if we go there"! We all agree.
