bad steak
by maovgi at Citysearch
I been going to this place for 8yrs, but I just love to drinks and social atmoshere this place have. Sometime I will eat, but for the last 8 yrs, the steak have alway s...ck. They have tough steak. I alway order bone in ribeye, everywhere I go. They make you dress up. I live down the street, and I alway like to dress in jean, t-shirt and a LV tennis shoe and they won't let me in, how sad.....If you want good perfect steak and side and causal dress code, go to fleming, del fisho, and captial grill.
- Pros: good atmoshere
- Cons: bad steak
Better places to go

I called ahead to make a reservation for my husband's birthday. The hostess assured me we would be taken care of and asked what his favorite flavor was so they could surprise him with a souffle.
When we arrived, we waited for a hostess to appear. Once she decided to come over, she told us we could sit whereever we wanted. We were put offguard immediately, as we assumed it was a fine restaurant.
Anyways, I did remind her because it seemed a different lady took the reservation. She knew it was a birthday. I also annoucned to the waiter it was his birthday.
At the end of the meal, he provided us with a dessert menu. I was wondering where the souffle was...
He said it would take 25 minutes to make. Um, hello- why wasn't it alreday being prepared or ready?
Dissapointing! because I wanted a special surprsie for my husband! How do things like this happen? I mean we only mentioned it 3 times...
- Pros: attentive
- Cons: did not meet expectations

Dining with family or just the girls... this is the place to have great dinner, cigar bar and a live band! And the outdoor patio was awesome to top of the beautiful night! Our server was always checking up on us.
- Pros: Friendly enviroment
Disappointing first visit
by badad at Citysearch
My wife and I had a very favorable visit to the Sullivans in Austin a few months ago, so we thought we would try this location for our special occasion fine dining experience in Houston. After we arrived and were seated, we had to wait for some time before we were greeted by our waitress, and when she did arrive, we had to explain the purpose of our visit (which was noted on our reservation).
Although the restaurant's ambience was found to be pleasant, when more patrons arrived, we found the room to be noisy and challenging for us to visit. We ordered the lobster bisque, wedge salad, and garden greens to begin our meal. The bisque and salads were found to be satisfactory, but not as good as we recall having had in Austin. Our entrees were crab-stuffed shrimp and a small filet mignon accompanied with sides including skillet steak mushroom caps. The shrimp was found to be flavorful, but the filet and the mushroom caps were not (in contrast to Austin.
For dessert we had creme brulee with fresh fruit, which turned out to be the highlight of the evening. This was found to be quite delicious -providing saving grace for a meal that was found to be less than what we expected for our evening's dining experience. The waitress did provide the desert gratis in commemoration of our "special occasion", which was a nice gesture.
Overall, the waitress did a good job of attending to us, and the complementary valet parking was a nice touch as well. My wife and I agreed after dinner that our dining experience did not enhance the prospect of us hastening back for an encore any time soon. We would suggest that this location explore what the Austin location's recipe was for success in the preparation of food, and try applying it here in the future.
- Pros: Service, dessert
- Cons: flavor of steak and attending sides
Good food & excellent service
by shinobi at Citysearch
My friend & I had the crab cake & lobster bisque for the appetizer. The crab cake was good. However, I was disappointed w/ the lobster bisque. The bisque just didn't have good flavor. We had the Cajun ribeye & the bone-in ribeye for the entree. The Cajun ribeye was not good, very dry even though it was medium. The bone-in ribeye was much better, very good flavor. Our waiter was very friendly & the service was excellent.
- Pros: food & service
"Best Service Ever"!!!
by tgillis81 at Citysearch
This was the first time my boyfriend and me dined at this established. We were celebrating my 27th birthday.I made a reservation for 8:30pm.The complimentary valet was nice parking the car and we preceeded inside not having to wait a long time to get seated.I could not stop looking around the restaurant in amazement of the decor. Our server was very knowledgable and has good customer service.I ordered filet mignon with grilled mushroom and a side of white cheddar au gratin potatoes while my boyfriend ordered the porterhouse steak with mash potatoes. He made the mistake of ordering well done instead of medium. It tasted burnt. However, the server as well as the managers were very proactive and made another steak. The service as well as the food was very good and I would highly recommend this restaurant to my family as well as friends.
- Pros: Customer Service,Food,Ambience
- Cons: None
Surprised!

WOW- I did not expect to have such a great time and have a great dinner too! I took my fiance there on a recommendation for dinner, it was her birthday. I had a ribeye and she had a small filet, we also ordered 2 side dishes but it was way too much food. We agreed that they we're the best steaks we've had in a while. At the end of our meal our server brought out a complementary dessert which was very thoughtful. We were about to leave after we payed, but our server (female, red hair, who was very attentive) mentioned Ringside (?), where they have live music. We were escorted to the club, which is hidden past the bar, and it was literally like walking into a completely different place! We had made plans to go dancing somewhere in the Galleria area, but we were surprised to find out that Sullivan's had a night club too!
- Pros: Great ambience & Food
- Cons: Go Hungry, side dishes are large portions. Parking a hassle, do valet
Great Sunday night piano bar
by keystone1 at Citysearch
Piano bar on Sunday night is great. The bar menu on Sunday night has reduced prices and is perfect for a light supper. Food is top notch, the atmosphere is classy, and the service is friendly. Terrific piano player / singer who does requests and will remember you the next time you come in. A lot of fun and a great way to end the weekend.
