Good Food
by traciajones
I don't totally agree with the person who wrote a review before me. You may have gone at the wrong time and got the wrong thing. I've been here many times and while I won't say their seafood is the best I've ever had, there are still really good. Try their fried catfish and shrimp next time.
- Pros: Good seafood. Large portions
- Cons: some veggetables are straight from a can ...yuk.
Great place for dispointment
by DeenaMedina
my husband and i read the reviews about this restaurant on the net in search for great crawfish and to our delight we were very convinced we found the place that would satisfy our craving. we arrived at the restaurant where we were told there would be a twenty minute wait. we were sat within time. however, after sitting there for twenty minutes at a table that was the CLOSEST to the front door and after watching half a dozen waiters walk by us without even making eye contact, it was afterall the horrible food that was being dealt to the table next to us (who sat down after we did) whom also did not have any drinks before being served their dry chalky crab cake appetizer. that was the kicker. we were out...half a block down the street to RAGIN CAJUN were we found everything we wanted in Bayou CIty but failed to find. Anyone thinking about going here just save yourself the time and disappointment and drive a half a block down the street to RAGIN CAJUN where you'll find eternal bliss...

- Pros: reviews on the net
- Cons: the actual restaurant itself
Good food, great service
by jenny2429
We went to Bayou City on Valentine's Day. I read great reviews about the boiled crawfish on this site, so, being from New Orleans, I had to try it for myself. We started off with the crab bisque which was absolutely divine. It was beyond delicious; I highly recommend it to everyone. We also got ten pounds of crawfish to split between the two of us. Unfortunately that was a complete disappointment when compared to New Orleans crawfish. ZERO spice, very bland, and seasoning sprinkled all over the shells. I can't understand what the point of that is. You're not eating the shells... you're eating the tail meat.
That being said, it's just the way crawfish is done in Houston. We had the same experience at Woodrow's. If this is the way you like your crawfish, Bayou City is a great choice. The soup was excellent, the service was great. However, if you are from Louisiana and like the hot and spicy crawfish that burns your mouth, this is not the place.
- Pros: Great service, good soup
- Cons: Crawfish not spicy enough for my tastes.
Delicious Seafood
by rocketpower
Visited this restaurant after several friends told me about how great the boiled crawfish are and was not dissapointed. Although it's early in the season the crawfish were delicious and spiced just right. Was so impressed with the dining experience I later in the week brought a group of co-workers for lunch and everyone raved about the lunch specials and shrimp poboys. I enjoyed the Leslie Salad with jumbo pieces of crabmeat and a cup of gumbo. The atmosphere is friendly and casual and the service was prompt and efficient.
- Pros: Excellent Seafood
Best Crawfish in Houston
by 1Juliano
We had our first Boiled Crawfish of the year this past weekend and Bayou City lived up to their reputation again! Also unlike other restaurants the price was affordable at just 3.95lb during the Sunday all day happy hour. Also enjoyed the Gumbo, Oysters and Pasta Liberty. Overall the service and quality of the meal were excellent.
- Pros: Boiled Crawfish, Gumbo and Pasta all incredible.
Disappointed
by jbray77005
We chose this restaurant because of its reviews on this site. We were planning on going to the Rajun Cajun, which we love. We were very disappointed with this restaurant. The critical reviews were accurate--the gumbo was good, but very thin. The rest of the meal did not have the cajun spices we hoped and was average and bland at best. My red fish special with blackened sauce was bland, as were the vegetables. The portion sizes were large. My wife described this as a 5 star restaurant for a blue collar man. My grandmother from Bayou Black would describe this place as a fancy place without the much substance. Our waiter was very nice. He asked if we would return---I don't think so.
- Pros: ambience, wait staff
- Cons: food was below average, especially for the price
Awesome food, hot host
by Greeech
The food is awesome and the servers fun! I definatley recommend it. The pretty hostesses are really a plus, too
- Pros: Great food, large portions
- Cons: Don't leave valuables in your car, it WILL be broken into if you leave purses, etc. out
Really great food and great service

I've never been disappointed with the food or the service here. Their crab bisque and crawfish bisque is wonderful. Great atmosphere for a date or dinner with friends.
- Pros: Prime location, great food, great service, reasonably priced
Best Pastas in Town

Visited Bayou City Seafood & Pasta last night before heading over to Minute Maid to watch the Sox play the Astros with a group of five friends and as usual the food and service was excellent. Love going to Bayou City with a group because we can sample several appetizers and entrees amongst everyone. Last night we started with sauteed oysters, boiled shrimp, cajun chicken fingers and crabcake appetizers...all were delicious. My gumbo was awesome as usual and my girlfriend had her favorite the crab bisque. For entrees we splitt the pasta justice so we could save room for the peach bread pudding. Our bartender/server Natalie was pleasant and efficient and made a great margarita!!
- Pros: All the seafood and especially the pastas
- Cons: Nothing
Worst Experience Ever!
by yuckyfood
I took my wife for her birthday because we heard such great reviews of this place.....but perhaps they went to another place in the area because everything here did not match any of their comments. First of all when we arrived there was nobody to seat us, then someone walked past us(later found out his name was Ron) and informed us to just sit anywhere. We recieved our water almost immediately(only plus of the evening) but was ignored for almost 20 minutes before, I guess there was a problem with the staff about whose section we were sitting in? Once we did finally order and the food was delivered, the order was wrong and the stuffed flounder smelled of amonia! But to top EVERYTHING off, when we left the restaurant and went to our car it had been broken into. So we went back into the restaurant and explained what happened we were asked if we had a cell phone and were instructed to phone the police ourselfs! So again, what a great Birthday night! Thanks Bayou Seafood!
- Pros: Water service
- Cons: everything
