I have had four surgeries performed by three of the docs at FOG (they need to change their name). I initially chose Dr. Cain (knee specialist now deceased) because he was the Oilers ortho doc. He was the slight of build guy who used to run out on the field when a player went down. Since that first surgery in 1982 (cartilage, right knee), I have had two additional cartilage repairs, another right knee in 2002 and a left knee cartilage last month. In addition, I have had a right shoulder operation and several visits for plantar faciitis. No problems and a quick recovery. I have recommended several of my friends that I compete against and they have had similar experiences. The Texas Orthopedic Hospital facility is first class, just like the docs. They ain't cheap but do you really want a cut rate doc to cut your body? One final note If you don't use Fondren Orthos. use someone that just treats your injury and NOTHING ELSE. If you go to a specialist that says he/she does it all (shoulders knees, hands, etc,), leave that office as soon as possible.

I will not recommend this company at all I feel they don't make there patients feel comfortable. They even treat there staff bad. I have often seen management yell and scream at there employees I feel that is very disrepectful and unprofessional. I went to the Fondren Orthopedic on main and I was very displeased.

I have used Jay Oates services since he started at Memorial Southwest hospital when my son then at age four was swinging from a branch of a tree off a slide in out back yard. He pulled his arm out of socket and Dr. Oates had to pin his arm together near his growth plate. He told me at the time of my son's operation that I was lucky he had been on call that evening since he was the best at this type of operation. I thought quite frankly he must be bragging. Anyway, he did a terrific job on my son who was lucky it didn't affect his growth plate. I saw him many years later for my own feet (when he was a specialist in the feet) and then again when that same son had hurt his foot. I am glad to know that Dr. Oates is in our neighborhood since I thought he was on Fannin . I also saw another bone doctor for my hip. Can't remember his name right now but I would definitely use this group again at any time.
Pros: glad to here they are closer to me than I thought.
Cons: none
