Attended a wedding and it was the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen in such a large city. A true resort with an amazing spa (Trellis), fabulous food, and one of the finest fitness clubs in the country. Our room was cozy and comfortable with a view of the woods that surround the hotel. Stunning! It is a hidden treasure. We went for our frineds very special day and it turned out to be our own special weekend. We were there for three days and never left the Houstonian property. Why would we? Gorgeous grounds and warm, friendly service throughout. Looking forward to returning many, many times.
- Pros: Attention to the details
- Cons: Have to book spa early. Fills up quickly but worth it.
Amazing Location for a huge city

I was there for a wedding and was blown away by the property, rooms, service, everything. Our room was gorgeous, we worked out at the gym the next day, the wedding was completely beautiful.
The most amazing this was the grounds. It is amazing to see how beautiful and hidden the property is given the fact that it is right in the Galleria area.
Recommend to anyone
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: none
You Def DO NOT GET What you expect

Now don't get me wrong the spa and gym are AMAZING!!!!! but the hotel? OMG! Can you say RUDE staff? I don't think it's possible to say it enough! If I am paying this type of money I at least expect you to be friendly to me. If you ask for anything you get a little attitude and apparently booking online is NOT the way to go! Now it's beautiful place but, I suggest firing everyone there and restaffing.
- Pros: Beautiful, walking trails, Gazebo, the place is simply beautiful!
- Cons: The staff is awful
Would NEVER think of staying anywhere else in Houston.....

The Houstonian is a special, specialized place. We have been going there for nearly 30 years, and have always had ideal experiences and respect from the staff. It is FAR from the most expensive, yet the extensive grounds and activity center give you the feeling you are not in a 'city' but at a quiet resort - far from the maddening crowd. The rooms are not large, but they are certainly adequate, as empasis is on a Spa or resort get-away atmosphere. Recommended for newlyweds, the over-stressed, and the lazy!
When we are there, our friends and family prefer to COME to the Houstonian to see us, rather than us visit them... they all enjoy it as much as we do. In the winter, gathering around the fire in the lobby and sitting up chatting until 2 is a favorite part of the visit. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Houston.
- Pros: Atmosphere, spa facilities, jog path, location, privacy, parking ease, service, views
- Cons: Rooms are not HUGE - but, for us they are ample for a 4-day stay
Way Overrated

Just because it's the most expensive, it's does not mean the best. The service not only RUDE, but terrible and slow. SNOBS galore in the staff dept. typical of wanna be part of the crowd, but not cutting it. Way too expensive just for being in the wood? No thank you, will not go back, will not recommend, will not stop by and collect anything.
- Pros: nice grounds
- Cons: expensive, rude, snob, small, slow,, bad service
Bring your own coffeemaker

$250/night, expect carpet without need 4 slippers. Maybe a coffeemaker in the room!
Checkin: Didn't have my reservation, had to go back to valet get confirmation out of car. Got the #, got an attitude from front desk blaming Expedia - got the wrong # of nights, wrong room-type, wrong level of room (pre-paid). Clerk was less than professional/competent. No apology, blamed me/Expedia.
Rooms small - looked for chalk outline, looked like someone stabbed in room. Bathroom: Motel 6 - maximum one person!
Temperature hard 2 regulate. Bed not comfortable
No one offered to take luggage to room (because we self-parked?) Front desk told us where to park but not how to get to room. Came thru lobby w/luggage & only way to get to room was through a wedding photo session, upstairs carrying luggage, late for a birthday dinner.
- Pros: friendly gazebo guy!!, nice grounds/views, padded walking track
- Cons: a lot, price/value, too many 2 list

I will someday marry at the houstonian hotel! My boyfriend and I love it! The hotel is our getaway. The gym and spa is the best. The quality and feel of the hotel is like no other in texas! Open bar and sacks before we go out for dinner A+++
- Pros: Great Gym, Relaxing land scape, open bar!
- Cons: I live in new york.
A bit overrated!!

Overall, I was not impressed with the Houstonian. The service is slow, it took forever before out luggage arrived to out room. The valet, however, is great. The rooms were average. I expected a lot more for a high end hotel. But it is the gym and the spa that makes them stand out. I wouldn't pay more then $150 a night for this hotel.
Outstanding place

Stayed on March 26 for anniversary. Wonderful experience. The people are so nice. If I needed anything, they were always willing to help. The hotel is so beautiful with a home-like feel. They are building some new pools so only one was open when we stayed, but it looks like it will be really nice. The health club was wonderful and the best for last....the spa. So nice. The people, the service and the massage was wonderful. My husband and I had a couple massage. I'd recommend that for anyone who wants a unique and nice anniversary experience. I hope my husband takes me back every year!
- Pros: Home-like feel, Staff very good, Spa is wonderful
Excellent!

Attended a wedding in Houston and had the opportunity to stay here. Absolutely amazing. Service was excellent. Very nice, yet very comfortable, like home. You don't know what a cool place it is until you drive in and see the beautiful grounds. The food at the reception and room service were excellent. The health club...WOW. Awesome. Walked the green padded track through the woods. Went into spa but didn't use it. It was really huge and nice though. I would highly recommend this place. It's not cheap, but well worth the price!
- Pros: People/Service, Grounds/View, Food/ spa/ gym
- Cons: ,
