Ranked among America's top troupes, this company taught Houston what classical dance is all about.

In Short
Under the leadership of artistic director Stanton Welch since 2003, Houston Ballet is one of the city's most cultural and unique entertainment options. Despite an attempt to promote the company as a whole (rather than individual dancers), stars have emerged over the years. It can do the classics right, but it doesn't stick to them. The Ballet is admirably eclectic in what it chooses to put on stage. Principal dancers include Simon Ball, Barbara Bears, Ian Casady, Amy Fote, Mireille Hassenboehler, Randy Herrera, Melody Herrera, Andrew Murphy, Connor Walsh and Sara Webb.
Good Surprise
by davidahouston
Last month was the first time I went to see a ballet and I was really surprised. I initially thought it was very expensive, but I found some afordable tickets quickly and easily.
I was thinking that I would see some tutus but it turned out the show was more modern, far from my pre-judgements.
My girlfriend was really happy too, we will go back I am sure !
- Pros: Modern, Afordable tickets, Easy parking
