Confused on the Concept

Ok, the food is generally good. Location is convenient. What I don't get is having a waitstaff. You place your own order, get your own drink, pay your own bill and take your food to the table. A waiter/waitress comes by, asks if you need anything (?) and places one straw on the table. What am I supposed to tip for?

Horriable Service, Horriable Food, and Overpriced for Any Kind of Food!

When I was going to sit after getting my food, there were a group of tables that were not cleaned off and there were two waiters just standing around doing nothing. I wanted to sit at one of those tables, but I found somewhere else to sit. Finally a group of guest asked the waiter if he could clear off a table so they could sit there, and he just gave them a dirty look, but finally cleaned it off once he realized they were going to wait until he did it.

On another occasion when I went there the cashier - "Denise L." told me how much my bill was, I commented wow under my breath and "Denise L" started to attack me, saying ?well u the one who did it. We didn?t do anything to you. You picked out the food.? I told her that it wasn?t a problem, and that I just didn?t realize it would be $13 for dinner here, and she just said ?well do you want it or not.? First of all, I wasn?t speaking to her when I said wow, and second of all, that is no way to speak to a customer.

The $13 was for a Lou Ann and a desert with no drink. The prices at this place have gotten so outrageous ever since new ownership took over a few years ago. Also, the food quality has gotten really bad. I got the Chicken Fried Steak and most of it was fried batter with little or no meat underneath. The macaroni and cheese was just plain awful as it was dry and stale. It seemed to have been sitting there the entire day.

Denise L is an employee every business needs if they want to go out of business!

• Pros: Okay if you need to grab something quick to eat.
• Cons: Horriable service & food, and overpriced.

Just okay..........

If you like cafeteria food, this is your place. When I eat here (which is rarely), I remember fond times with grandma and grandpa when we'd go to the Morrison's cafeteria in South Florida. But I digress. This particular Luby's is very busy at lunchtime due to the many offices that are nearby. The food is acceptable but way too expensive for what you get. For a normal-sized meal please expect to spend $12-$15 which I do not believe is worth it. Staff at this location can be rude and they will only speak Spanish.

• Pros: Comfort food. Variety of food choices.
• Cons: Price. Rude staff. Crowd during lunchtime.

Mom's cooking for singles!

As a single female who doesn't like to cook, but enjoys eating balanced meals, I've been going to Luby's for years. They have delicious fish and veggies. The macaroni and cheese is tops! The LuAnn Plate is a bargain... and is quite filling. The one in my neighborhood even serves breakfast now.

• Pros: veggies, variety, home cooking
• Cons: atmosphere

My whole family and friends love Luby's. Almost everything I've tried is wonderful and if you can get to the desserts it's worth it. If you can't eat in then they have a drive-thru for you. Love that for the work day. It truly tastes like home cooking. For the few bucks you pay it is truly worth it.

• Cons: Closing Hours, Drink-cart ladies

I like Luby's Caferteria. They have great food. Especially if someone is on a diet they have many things to chose from for them. Also the have great desserts.
