Amazing Brunch, Holiday's and buffets

by cnote55 at Citysearch

My family and I try Brady's Landing for their Thanksgiving buffet. We had not been there in quite a few years. One of my friends told me that there has been some major changes recently. We decided to give it a try... WOW were we impressed!! The build has and is going thru some major renivation. The company is putting some big money into making sure that Brady's Landing is going to be around for a long time. The rooms were decorated and it looked like every banquet was being used to seat the massive amount of people that showed up for thanksgiving. It was a real professional show. The 2 grand buffets were "Las Vegas" style quality. I asked our server what the big differences were. She said they had a new General Manager, a new chef, and a whole new attitude toward service and their guests. She was also very attentive and made us feel like we were the only ones there. The food was "to die for" (we went thru the buffet about 5 times). I can not wait to go back for x-mas.

  • Pros: New Chef & GM
  • Cons: none

What a nice suprise

by TampaRAC at Citysearch

I had heard about this restaurant for years but had never gone as it's a bit of a drive. We went last week for Sunday Brunch and it was a Wonderful treat. The Best brunch that we've found in Houston. As I write this review we are preparing to go to brunch there again today. One Tip: try to save some room for dessert.

  • Pros: Best Sunday Brunch we've found in Houston.
  • Cons: Kind of a drive from home.

not worth the trip

by LoneStar4200 at Citysearch

The landing was not worth the drive. I make this statement because most of the people that are willing to pay the $27+ for "all you can eat" do not live anywhere near the landing. It is located in a less than desirable area of town. It does have a nice view of the ship channel, in all its cargo ships glory. The building itself is nice with great personality. There are plenty of banquet space for rent "probably the only reason this place is still in business". The staff was helpful and adequately professional. The worst thing about the place was the food. I honesty felt that I have eaten better at a Golden Coral. Best thing was the salad bar, it was fresh, but still just a bunch of lettuce. I will have to say I sampled every savory item on display and nothing came close to being satisfying. Many of the items appeared to be previously frozen "fried shrimp and catfish". My last selection was the Gumbo. I lifted the lid and noticed an aroma that I had never smelt before. After a few moments of debating whether to try it or not I laddled me a bowl. When I sat back at the table I took my first bite and realized what the taste was, musk. I sit here almost an hour later still unable to get the taste of funk out of my mouth. Diner Beware.

  • Pros: nice building, party space for rent, seat with a view "sort of"
  • Cons: food quality, taste, and location

Big dissapointment!

by Lovettgirl at Citysearch

I went to Brady's Landing for Easter brunch with 4 friends (we all go to Rice). We don't go out and spend a lot of money eating a lot so we were looking forward to Brady's Landing for a while as a nice treat for Easter. However, it was a huge dissapointment. Not only was it in an pretty sketchy area of town, but the food and service were both orrible and the views were of ugly freight boats. There was a lot of food but most of it had been sitting out for hours and with no waiters replacing it. We had to scrape the bottom of the platter to get any food at all, and all of it was tepid and unappetizing. We were all very dissapointed and felt sick afterwards. It was also very overpriced for the quality of the food and service.

Best Brunch

by takethisdog at Citysearch

Way over priced, especially to be bothered by crying children and the uneven multi-leveled dining room makes it difficult to serve myself plates of food. If I'd wanted to haul plates of food around to serve myself, I could've stayed at home, saved the $25 plus tax and tip! As for the view, it was dismally raining and the ship channel is dirty with trash and litter floating down the stream! There was ample variety of foods, however, much of it fat laden and unhealthy.

  • Pros: huge variety of food
  • Cons: view, uneven flooring, buffet, not for children, over priced

A great view of the Ship Channel's turning basin is the major attraction at this tourist favorite.

In Short
Locals bring out-of-towners here to soak up a bit of waterside dining atmosphere while showing off an unusual side of Houston. The atmosphere, which is especially dramatic at night, is the major draw of Brady's. The kitchen turns out merely average seafood, but its nevertheless it keeps a steady flow of dining traffic. It's also a favorite destination for a festive Sunday champagne brunch.

Best Mother's Day Brunch

by wadester at Citysearch

We tried Brady's Landing for the first time, as a location to celebrate Mother's Day. And WOW, what a buffet. There was a huge variety of steak, fajitas, shrimp, snow crab, oysters rockefeller, salads, fried fish, desserts..........you name it, they had it. Although the location is in a somewhat odd part of town, surrounded by dying out parts of Houston around the ship channel, the food was absolutely wonderful, and so was the service. The restaurant itself is very enchanting, and the buffet included all the chamagne and mimosas you could handle. They have a huge parking lot, beautiful grounds, and beautiful banquet rooms; great place for a wedding reception. We will be going back soon.

  • Pros: Great Variety, Great Service, Lots of Parking
  • Cons: Odd location

WOOO

by soadnirvana at Citysearch

Great place to go at night, the ships practically park next to the glass window (Brady's landing is in the ship channel). It gets freaky at night, as their are accounts that this place is haunted. Went here for my First Communion after party, good food, pretty "uppity"

  • Pros: All good

Great Brunch

by shannon99 at Citysearch

We visited Brady's Landing for Sunday brunch and although it was expensive ($25 each), the food was well worth it. They have two rooms full of food, including seafood, made to order omelets, fajitas, salads and deserts, to name a few items. The views are okay but the food is great.

  • Pros: Food
