Foods great - fresh and flavorable. Coffee rocks. Service - awesome. Down to earth and ready to serve. Good sense of community (very Heights-ish where everybody knows your name.. and they're always glad you came)... See all walks of life - the young, the elder, couples, families.. Great place. If you haven't stumbled into this diamond in the rough, do so and see for yourself.

The food is great, the service is below average but the management has serious issues. Cussing out customers, or worse, cussing out part-time employees is not a good business practice! Maybe its time for some STRESS TABS or a vacation MATT! Whatever the problem is: try not to take it out on the customers or the employees!

Pros: Good food

Cons: Poor customer service & employee relations

Today was my 4th visit in about 6 weeks. The only thing I found fault with is their Hollandaise, which was like soup, but didn't taste too bad. My daughter thinks the coconut cream pie is the best ever. I also love the keylime. Everyone loves the potatoes and the bacon is beautiful. The eggs aren't quite as fresh tasting as at the 11th St. Cafe, but they're better than average. They do an excellent job of poaching, as well. So far, I think maybe the Huevos Ranchero may be my favorite. They're different, but delicious. The servers are great and the place is very family friendly. I'm a Grandma to be so I enjoy looking at all the pretty babies and toddlers. Plus they all seem well behaved, a miracle in itself.

Some friends took me here today. Though the menu isn't big, there is a decent selection of both breakfast and lunch dishes. They got our food out very quickly and came by to check on us frequently. My food was great! I will definitely be going back!

Pros: Great food and service

Cons: Closes at 3:00

Nestled in the historic district known as the Heights, this restaurant's food is delightful. Their help stinks though. Grumpy matronly unsmiling hostess to greet you, slow teenager service with poor attitudes to serve you. But if you can get past that, the food is tasty. As an every-so-often visitor over the past five years, my partner and I like the owner Matt's smiling face (can't they clone him?) and cheerful demeanor. We just wish they'd change their menu around- it's not changed since we started going there.

Pros: good tasting food, Matt the Owner, Plentiful Parking

Cons: Matt's sourpuss sis, poor service, boring menu

My boyfriend and I were dogsitting for a friend who lives behind Java Java Cafe. In the morning we decided to try it since it was right there. We both got the breakfast combo and topped the waffles off with fresh fruit. After one bite we both felt like never eating anything else but these waffles for the rest of our lives. It's that good.

Pros: friendly, delicious, affordable

Cons: closes early, smaller weekend menu

The only thing I miss about living in the Heights is my Java Java breakfast. Best potatoes, waffles, etc.

Pros: everything, best potatoes

Cons: not open all day
