Females not welcome at BRB
by oneluk at Citysearch
We went with some friends to BRB on a tuesday nite and had never been. We have alot of friends who go there and rave about it, but you have to know people there I guess to have a good time. We walked in and there was 6 people in the bar including the bartender. MUST BE A MAN TO GET A DRINK THERE. We were totally disapointed that the bartender would not even stop his converstation to get us a drink...after waiting 10 minutes we walked out.Its not the place to go if your female...wow you would think that its 2008 and our community would be better about making all feel welcome...NOT THIS PLACE! Will never waiste my time there again.
Charitable shows and gay-boy boot scootin' keep 'em coming to this cowboy bar.

In Short
This is gay-boy boot scootin' at its finest. The BRB is the epitome of an H&W bar--hats and Wranglers, that is. Dinner is followed by surprisingly well-produced shows featuring local entertainers and benefiting local AIDS charities, including the Texas Gay Rodeo Association. Montrose Clinic provides free on-site testing and counseling outreach on Mondays from 4pm to 8pm.
A lot of Real Fun

My partner and I went to BRB for the first time with some friends and we had a blast. This could quite possibly be the best time I've ever had at a bar, and I've been to many clubs in several large cities. I finally found a place where we can dance in public to country music. The line dances are a lot of fun as well. It was nice to see REAL men, and not have to deal with the pretentious twinks that can readily be found at most other clubs. The smoke was not bad at all, and the dance floor was wonderful to dance on. The cover was cheap ($2) and the drinks are very reasonable. The service was fast. I would recommend this bar to anyone who wants to have a good time with real people, without all the drama.
- Pros: Good music, friendly people, lively atmosphere
- Cons: Limited/no seating arrangements; mostly stand up
It's all country!!!

I have been going to the "BRB" for about 5 years now. Sat nights are the best but try to get there by 10:30 pm b/c that's when the fun begins. Most of the people there are nice, down to earth and willing to talk to anyone. Just be yourself. If you go, get ready to see some serious dancing. Them boys don't play around.
- Pros: $2 cover, plenty of parking, good crowd
- Cons: only Sat night, only gay bar around, music a little dated
