Went a couple times on Thursdays when it's salsa night. I don't dance, but it looked like this was the place ro go for upscale salsa dancing. Some good looking girls go on Thursday too.
Worst experience ive ever had goin out.....1st time and last time i ever go 2 Scott Gertner`s SkyBar

this was the 1st time i had ever went 2 skybar and will be the last. i went there with some co-workers(police officers)4 of the people with me were drinking and 1 of them was not drinkin at all due 2 them being the driver . when i got there i paid cash for my 1st drink which was a crown and coke. the next time i ordered some drinks i ordered a crown and coke an 4 shots of patron. (shot 4 each person with me). i ordered that 3 diffrent times during the night. after the 3rd round of shots i totaly was out of it. everything went dark and quiet. i dont remeber a thing after that. after looking up the symptoms i had during the night all signs point that i was slipped something in my drink. after being a police officer a total of 7 years and working as a narcotics detective u can tell the diffrence from being drunk and drugged. well whats crazier was my card was swipped a total of 12 times for charges of $262. the following day after talking to the manager of skybar an telling him what happened and that i wanted a receipt of what was purchased. he said that was gunna be hard to do because they deal with so many people everyday. he said the waitress said she remebered me and my name and how many drinks i had that night....sounds kinda fishy to me that she would remeber so many details about 1 person. but i guess if i was tryin to scam him and his money i would remeber all the details so i could have a good cover story when that person called to complain like i did. the waitress said that after the 3rd round of drinks i bought that i started buying shots 4 everyone in the club thats why my bill was so much but from my witnesses that were with me said that was a total lie that i never bought drinks for anyone else. every person ive told this who know me knows that a few drinks wouldnt make me totaly not remeber a thing and be all out the box & not know whats goin on says the same thing.."dude you were drugged"..I dont recomend skybar to anyone. worst experince ever.

Ok, where can you go to get incredible vocalist, an incredible view of the city and an owner that sings on Saturday nights with the bands-----that can sing........Skybar.
You take an elevator up umteenth floors, 10$ cover and your in with decent gear. The drinks seemed to be around 8-9$, but the service was fast. There are couches outside with candles and plenty of room to escape and just view the city. And of course, it's a penthouse view with tons of windows to see the city. The singers were incredible with soul that night. I think it's for the R&B community from all I can tell. Most people were dressed nice, kinda like business wear. I got in with a nice pair of jeans, collared shirt and dress shoes without a second glance. They advertise no t-shirts or sneakers, but jeans are fine. Try parking in the grocery store across, I think it's free. Otherwise you pay to park in the garage and there is a walk down to the first floor for the elevator. We had an awesome time!
Great place for singles and couples

My husband and I went on a Saturday night with some friends and we had a blast. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun. The drinks were great I will be back with more friends. This maybe our new hang out spot. But it would be best if you pay for your drinks with cash because there's an 18 percent gratuity that's added to all credit card transactions.
- Pros: Great view and very romantic
Overpriced and falling apart!!
by JSastre at Citysearch
My girlfriend and I have been there three times this year and every visit it has been going downhill. They jack up the price on everything except the parking which will probably go up too.
The last time paid too much for as far as the cover charge is concern for a broken elevator that made the wait time down stairs and upstairs unacceptable. Then there is the so call dress code.I had on a pair of slacks and a short sleeve shirt, she was wearing a casual dress but once we came inside the place we thought we were over dressed!!Then there is the leaking ceiling due to condensation from the AC,hey I least put a coffee can up there to catch the water!!The place is a dump!IIve seen better clubs at third world countries for a fraction of the price to get in and enjoy.Save your money there are better places in Houston to go to.
- Pros: Nice view
- Cons: View gets old in a few minutes
Best Bar in Town!
by jjkareem at Citysearch
Love this bar! Great atmosphere! Beautiful patio--very romantic if you're on a date! Great Band that knows how to entertain a mixed crowd---black and white folks! At this club you don't have to worry if you are a woman out alone. Safe area, nice bouncers, and the crowd on Friday and Saturdays is a respectable crowd. No thugs!
- Pros: atmosphere, nice crowd, excellent music!
- Cons: wish you didn't have to walk all those stairs after parking, just to get down to elevator.
I liked it!

I really liked it here! I do contract work so I travel for a living and have been many places. Went here on Valcentines Day. Free roses for the ladies(me) and no cover for the ladies. The view is great. The free salsa lessons and band afterwords were great. The key si to get there early. Got there around 830 Thursday night. Found free street parking. Took the elevator. Mojitos on sale for 5 bucks(36oz). Service was good. No complaints. Didn't try the snacks so can't comment but plan to go back Wednesday for the free buffet. Write another review then. Hasta luego
Time for a facelift
by canwetalk at Citysearch
Sky Bar has been around for many years, with the same decor and set-up. I recently went there after a 20-year hiatus, and nothing had changed, except the place smelled mustier. There are a lot of better, more interesting places to go in Houston.
- Pros: Great outdoor patio, convenient location.
- Cons: Poor parking situation; wornout interior, pricey drinks.
GREAT VIEWS!!!
by jbacha1 at Citysearch
This is THE place for a 360 degree phenomenal view of all sides fo Houston... The crowd is more of the 30+ but being a young biz pro I felt at home... The beginning of teh night it was more of a "cruise" ship lounge with the older group sitting and enjoying the live music by Scott Gertner himself... Then about 11ish the younger crowd came in and took over then the rap and hip hop came on... I have never had such a good time the with watching a 50 year old man and his wife get low...
A great mix of all ages, ok drink prices, great views and a romatic candle lit patio....
- Pros: Good mix of all ages... AMAZING view...
- Cons: non heated patio...
Upscale professionals flock to this snazzy, high-as-a-cloud club for rarefied air and too-hip-to-be-square music.

The Scene
Attracting a combination of upwardly mobile professionals and groups of coworkers looking to dress up and let loose, Scott Gertner's hip heaven is on a cloud of its own. Whether it's Gertner's (a longtime local musician and club owner) own cover band onstage or an increasing variety of national performers like Acoustic Alchemy and Tuck & Patti, SkyBar is the home for smooth, contemporary jazz and '70s-'80s-era soul and light funk.
The Draw
If the Greek gods reside on Mount Olympus, then this is the Zeus of clubs. Boasting an unbeatable vista of downtown Houston and its surrounding area, its room-with-a-view ambiance is unparalleled. The club proper has the lights down low and flickering candles to illuminate the sprawl of tables with comfy seats.
Best Spot 2 B At
by gizmo4 at Citysearch
This past weekend my girlfriend and I attended the Sky Bar thinking it was going to be a bar like the sister spot on Fountainview/Richmond. But to our surprise, it was an actual club. The people there were well dressed and sophisicated ( which is expected)! Yea we had to pay for parking and wait outside for the elevator for about 20-30 min, however it was well worth the wait. The bar has a beautiful view, beautiful atmosphere, scenery, and people. This is the #1 attraction of out of towners. I will definately go back and bring more friends.
- Pros: Atmosphere, people
- Cons: Prices of the drinks
