We made reservations for July 6th and 7th to attend a wedding. The rooms did not look like the website pictures looked. We were told there were some cancellations and perhaps we might be interested in staying in a room in the main house instead of the townhouse. He (One of the two gentlemen who own this place) said they were painting the suite above us the following day. I booked this particular suite a month and a half earlier on-line thru their website. They had plenty of time to "PLAN" for us and could have chosen more wisely the day in which they painted the suite above the room we booked. I received no email confirmation from them. A week before we arrived I emailed requesting confirmation and the reply was two words: YOUR CONFIRMED. The breakfast was continental and available 24/7; There was NO cooked breakfast. Disappointing. Then we were told that there was a thermostat in the joined hallway that was shared between our unit (7) and the upstairs unit. This was fine.. a non-issue at the time. The following morning, we awoke to heavy thuds and heavy feet and moving. It woke me up. Then it got really hot in our room, so I went into the shared hallway and turned the air back on because it was turned OFF.Thirty minutes later it was hot again; THE OWNERS TURNED IT UP To 85 this time. I was furious. We left at around 11am and returned at 3:30. The maid had not come. We dressed for the wedding and left. The next morning guess what? IT WAS HOT AGAIN because they adjusted it AGAIN while they were painting the upstairs suite AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN. We left shortly after 10am and it was not fast enough. I am disgusted as you can tell. I am shocked that this place is open for business. There is virtually NO SERVICE. FREE is too much to pay. Stay away and save yourself from this nightmare on Lovett St.

Please read all reviews and make the decision about the Lovett Inn for yourself. Check tripadvisor.com also.

* Kelly was given multiple rooms to choose from and she decided on the room she originally booked online. If she was unhappy with the room, she could have selected others because we weren't 100% occupied that weekend.

* Painting the room on the floor above Kelly's had no impact on her room and the 1 painter arrived at 10am Saturday to begin painting.

*We typically leave the a/c set at 72 degrees, Kelly kept setting it at the lowest temperature possible - 58 degrees. We reset it two times to 70 to prevent the unit from freezing up.

* I'm sorry she had a bad experience, but I would have been happy to discuss her concerns if she had given me the opportunity-I never saw her after check-in. She has since told me via email that she will do everything possible to prevent people from staying with us. I would only hope that she would be honest.

The Lovett Inn was a gorgeous place and I just loved the rooms, garden and breakfast (sparkling cider yum!). I was even offered an extra bed to accommodate my many guests. The only issue I had was the somewhat lukewarm welcome as a group of teenagers. But if you're past your teens, this is a great place to stay.

The Lovett Inn is a gorgeous, romantic, tastefully decorated, tranquil and calming space set in the heart of the dynamic and trendy Montrose District. The proprietors are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area: from wining and dining, to museum and gallery visiting and other points of interest. They are willing to assist to make one's stay absolutely perfect. This kind of personal attention is a rare find in an establishment situated in the heart of such a large city. A wonderful experience to be repeated as often as possible!

?The Lovett Inn is my new favorite place to stay.?

I just spent the most pleasant week in Houston staying at the Lovett Inn. I was here originally on business but decided to stay the weekend and enjoy the 4th largest (soon to be the 3rd largest) city in the country.

The owners have a wonderful home to share and have the true spirit of great bed and breakfast proprietors. They have great attention to detail and have been so helpful and accommodating with a genuine desire to help me enjoy my stay in Houston.

When asking about the city I found them extremely knowledgeable and full of great suggestions. To insure that I had everything that I needed, they would go to the Internet and produced print outs of directions, reviews and up to date information on any topic I brought up. All this was done without my ever having to ask.

The Inn is located in a very quaint neighborhood 5-7 minutes walking distance to the Montrose District. Such great food, museums, a full-sized gym, spas, food stores, pharmacy and even a Starbucks are all within easy walking distance. Location, location, location!

In between the hustle and bustle of seeing the sites and painting the town, I made time to relax around the pool and take breakfast out to my room?s patio and read the paper.

They have some great innovative ideas that make staying at the Lovett so pleasant. The main house is set up with a very easy to use security system allows you access to the beautiful dining room 24/7. They have a wide variety of food available for those late night or early morning hunger cravings! Well, enough said. I hope that your stay here is as pleasant as mine was. I have plans to return on business in September and again in October and I know that I?ll be returning to the Lovett Inn.

In Short
This quaint historic guesthome offers 12 rooms with private baths, king-sized "sleep number" beds, televisions and telephones. Most rooms overlook the lovely landscaped grounds; some have a private balcony. If you need to unwind, linger in the pool or Jacuzzi, read a good book in the study, or take a stroll through the English garden. Soft music, fresh flowers and glowing candles create a soothing and tranquil atmosphere. A courtyard gazebo is perfect for wedding receptions and special events.

I travel a lot and sleep away from home around 150 nights a year . this is one of THE VERY BEST places I have ever stayed!

Everybody here are real nice: great staff - and clean too.

It looks better in real life than on the website...

I will be back for sure - highly recommended!

  • Pros: The attention to details and the big picture
  • Cons: none!

My mom stayed here when she recently came to visit me and she loved it. Not only was it reasonably priced for a B & B, but it was beautiful and the staff was awesome. The rooms also have those fancy sleep number beds, and nice bathrooms!

I have had several special events at the Lovett Inn and I have always been glad that I did. The staff prepared the spaces just as requested. The deliveries were easy to coordinate- and the rooms were not too small- even better- they were not too big for my intimate gatherings.

Clean, easy to find and a Houston classic!

I LOVETT!

The Lovett Inn is a welcome respite from the big commercial hotel offerings of Houston. Afforable, hospitable, friendly, cozy and fun---it's located on a beautfiul old tree-lined street in Houston away from the traffic and the noise. The staff is attentive. They have a great arrangement with Fitness Xchange for working out. Grounds have great pool and gazebo for quiet relaxation. Overall, it's much more of a home away from home atmosphere. Try it, you'll like it.

Nestled in the heart of Houston's Montrose, the Lovett Inn is the perfect setting for a calm refuge while visiting busy Houston. The service is impeccable, the guests are lovely, and it is so conveniently located to all of Houston's best sites. I wouldn't even think about staying anywhere else when I visit Houston, and neither should you.

  • Pros: great location, excellent service, good price
