Stuffed to the gills with stuff!

by NevRa319

Vintage Oasis is an over packed suitcase bursting at the seams with a little bit of everything. The prices are high on certian things and one huge draw back I found was that every dress I looked at ( again good selection, I looked at about 20 different dresses) was stained or damaged in someway and it did not affect the price. Yes we are talking about vintage items but there is no reason to pay top dollar for damaged goods. The store is very overwhelming, it is dusty and there are cats but it says on the door that there is a cat in the store and if your not allergic and not claustrophobic it is alot of fun to hunt threw. The owner was a neat eccentric lady who's only draw back was cursing in front of her customers. Check it out and write your own opinon, I like hunting so I'll be back after I take some allergy medication.

  • Pros: Extensive Selection
  • Cons: Allergy and Claustrophobia Alert

Great Selection!

by Lisa0825

I think I went to every vintage store and costume shop in the Montrose area over a period of about 2 hours, and I finally found exactly what I was looking for at Vintage Oasis. They are so chuck full of clothes that it looks a little overwhelming at first. But I told the lady (owner, I think) what I had in mind, and she took me right to it. Great selection, and I love the cats! :-)

  • Pros: great selection, very helpful

awesome stash of vintage clothing, friendly staff

by trixie17

I have been shopping at vintage oasis for many years now, and they have helped me keep my love for vintage clothing alive. The westheimer strip has changed drastically in the past 10 years, but vintage oasis has stood the test of time. It is nice to know that one of the unique stores that i visited in my youth is still around! The store is packed with goodies, so be prepared to dig. You won't be disappointed! For everyday wear or costume needs. Go ahead, take a trip down memory lane...

  • Pros: good prices
  • Cons: too much stuff not enough time

One Stop Costumes

by TexasTessy

As Owner of this store, I surely hope that potential customers don't let a few sour grapes limit your shopping. Yes the store is small and parking is sometimes a challenge, the store can be cluttered, and there is a cat. The store stocks merchandise that dates from the 40's to present, and I try to get only the more gently worn, there is no mold on ceilings or walls, and it may be stuffy to the very sensitive of noses, as this a 1930's old house, full of antique noses. I also am proud of keeping my prices lower that my competitors, I am not a thrift store, but a vintage and costume store, be prepared to dig, and don't be afraid to ask for hard to find items! If I can't help you, I will recommend other similar competitor stores and call to ask for you. This is not Macy's!

  • Pros: Helpful Staff
  • Cons: Parking

Smells really bad

by fancytreehouse

SO TINY. The place is overflowing with clothes and they have some good stuff but it's overpriced (I bought a shirt for $20) and there's like cat food everywhere and all the clothes smell like cat urine as someone else said. EW. It's also very dusty and I have bad allergies-this place gave me a sinus headache. Most of the sizes they carry are large so if you're a xs like me you won't find much..the "shoe section" is just a bunch of smelly old shoes that have sweat stains.

  • Pros: good selection
  • Cons: smelly and dirty

Great Costume Shop in town

by grammagail

After exhaustive searches both on-line & driving all around this city to complete my costume for Halloween last year, I definitely found my "Oasis"! My specific need were gloves to finish a 50's-inspired glamour look and Vintage Oasis not only had 'em, they had every size, color & style imaginable...I also found the perfect purse, glasses, hat & cigarette holder. Yes, it IS small & packed, but that's exactly what I find charming about the store-when you find your perfect item, it's like a little victory! The owner could not have been more helpful....I'll be back...and back!

  • Pros: If you can think of it--they have it
  • Cons: the parking is difficult and very limited

Lots of stuff, not clean, too pricey.

by monnieb

Vintage Oasis is literally crammed full of great vintage items, however the store reeks of mold, mildew, and cat urine. In spite of the great selection of well-preserved clothing from just about every era in history, most of the items are $30+ to buy, $20+ to rent. I felt this was overpriced, especially given the condition of the store. Mold grows on the walls, ceiling, and I can only imagine in the clothes. A cat lives in the store, and a neglected litter box can be found under racks of clothes. A stack of old shoes reeked of urine. Many racks are broken and falling down, and the 'dressing room' is a corner of the back room, covered by moldy shower curtains hanging from a broken rod.

  • Pros: Selection, Friendly service
  • Cons: Price, cleanliness, smell
