Fun, Trendy Resale Shop
by earthandskyandrain at Citysearch
This is a really good resale shop. Unlike other thrift stores, the clothes are really geared towards a younger crowd -- older teens and young adults. No baby clothes and no little kids clothes makes for a more peaceful shopping experience! This is my favorite thrift shop, and I love visiting this place.
The negative reviews on this site are really funny! All of them come across as sounding like sour grapes from competitors to be honest.
- Pros: Great Thrift/Resale for the younger shopper
- Cons: I wish it were bigger.
This place is a joke and the manager is terrible.

Clothing sellers do not waste your time. Run do not walk away from this place. You will do much better selling on Ebay. To start off with these people have poor customer service. I do not know where they got off having a snooty attitude. They work in a run down used clothing shop in an unsafe part of town- there is not a thing to be snobby about. When I walked in I was not greeted properly and the inappropriateness of the staff's interaction with me just continued from there. I know I'm not at Nordstrom but the basics of customer service is to greet a customer upon entry to the store. The "manager" working today is laughable. This Courtney chick needs to have some self- respect and learn how to behave with decency toward her customers. She was very rude and I found her demeanor toward other customers highly disagreeable. I would think the owners would be embarrassed at her behavior. This young lady needs to join the rest of us in reality and get out of her dream world. Your worth in the customer service industry is based on how you interact with customers. This Courtney character is a liability to this store and the owner needs to put her behavior in check. You do not need to be educated to do what she is doing and there are tons of people going in making quadruple of her hourly wage so please have some self respect and stop embarrassing your store.
- Pros: Discount used designer clothes
- Cons: Poor customer service, rip-off sellers, rude manager
good clothes, but you can find good anywhere

Let's see...stuck up sales crew, buy stuff for 5 bucks...resell it for $30...most of the stuff I liked was $30 and up where I can buy new for that price, some of the stuff was torn, dirty, stained and I wouldn't pay "new" prices for that. Maybe, just maybe if I would have had a better experience with the sales crew, I would have bought something. For sure they need customer service training because w/out customers there's no biz!
- Pros: different , good, vintagy stuff
- Cons: stuck up minimum wage sales people
the best resale shop in houston

this is THE place to find a great deal on cool clothing-- it is not the most inexpensive to place to shop but it is the most inexpensive place to find the range of quality, stylish clothing they offer. It is important to remember they evaluate the items the take based on a combination of condition/label/look (with the look being the most important) so they won't take something based just by the label, which is something i feel differentiates this chain from most other resale shops (which will take stuff based on brand recognition alone regardless of whether the item is actually attractive). That being said I never walk in and want to buy everything, they've got funky stuff for every taste but not everything to one specific taste, but i always find a couple amazing items that i know (from being an avid shopper) i won't be able to find anywhere else for the same price.
Not bad, but not good

I go to the thrift shops on westheimer quite often and I almost always find a lot of great stuff. But unless you have a little more money to spend I wouldn't even bother with Buffalo Exchange. They have a lot of really great stuff but the prices are more then I'm usually willing to spend on used clothing. Besides that the staff is kind of stuck up (of course that pretty much goes for the staff of any of the Montrose area thrift shops).
I will say they have an amazing selection and I pretty much always find something that I just have to have. I'd definately recommend trying it out.
- Pros: Big store, large selection
- Cons: pricey for used clothing, rude staff
Not quite a vintage boutique, not quite a thrift store: Chic clothes on these racks are the coolest castoffs around.

In Short
The first Buffalo Exchange opened in 1974 in Tucson, Arizona, and has since become a famous-label junkie's delight. The eclectic inventory is built by loyal customers who bring in former favorites from their own closets to sell or trade. A constant turnaround of lightly worn men's and women's clothing and accessories keeps the bargain-hunting ground fertile for finds from the likes of Kate Spade, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and others.
Basically it's horrible

I went here once and was so disappointed. I have NO IDEA why people like it so much. It's like.....a Marshalls but with old 4 seasons ago True Religion jeans. I don't know what kind of "designer" stuff people find here but I only saw stuff you can buy at freakin Macy's. Total waste of gas!
- Pros: semi good parking
- Cons: bad selection, overpriced
ok for the masses

It's not the original buffalo exchange that was next door when it first opened in Houston, but you can still get some good stuff if your willing to dig to find it. I understand the staff is overworked, but they are sometimes a little too picky for their own good. The original staff with Leslie, Rain, Treasure, Squeaky and Shawn were much more personable and attractive. They were also much quicker at the buy counter!! The store was never the same after those employees left! Still, it is possible to find a good bargain there. It's a shoppers paradise for people who love to shop. I'll be back next weekend!!
- Pros: good clothes, prices
- Cons: long lines at buy counter
Don't bother

I went with a trunk full of clothes, a week or so after Thanksgiving with alot of dressier name brand items + a Levi's vest with tags on it + several pairs of Calvin Klein jeans that were barely worn, and I browsed while my clothes waited in line for someone to look at hoping to be bought by Buffalo Exchange. They did not buy 1 item, they were rude when I wanted them back instead of letting them donate them (hey I want the tax write off, why give it to them). While browsing, I noticed stained items, dirty looking items, worn out looking items, all at prices way too high for resale.
No thanks.

Okay, so I know that the high school kiddos love this place, but I consider Buffalo Exchange to be one of the biggest rip offs in Montrose.
The prices are absurdly high for previously worn clothing, and the staff is rude and are of no help whatsoever! If they aren't there for customer service, then why are they there at all?
- Pros: Nice location.
- Cons: Rude employees, bad lighting and high prices.
