Great dive bar
by devinship
The best dive bar in Houston. Lola's is the place to grab a great cocktail during the two happy hours 5-7 and 9-11 that will knock your socks off. The barkeeps are friendly and know how to make a drink. Cash only...but hey, then you know how much you are drinking...so deal with it.
- Pros: relaxed with a great vibe and two happy hours!
- Cons: dark and cash only
My Favorite starting and stopping place

I have been going to this bar for over 20 years and I always have a good time there! Strong drinks are the norm even if they did go up to $1.75 for Happy Hour, where else can you get a cheap drink, hang with friends and party on the patio????
- Pros: Cheap drinks, Great bartenders
- Cons: youngsters coming in and trying to fit in

hidden treasure

Awesome dive bar! The inspired selection in the jukebox puts most bars to shame. The owners are most welcoming, and may even take you on in pool. Great prices and a sort of hipster/dark decor make for a great alternative experience. The bar, hidden off Montrose, needs no sign. Cash only. Deal with it!
With no sign and no advertising budget, this laid-back pool and juke joint survives by word of mouth.

The Scene
This friendly, ragtag watering hole is hard to find, but easy to love. Keep a lookout for the small house with aluminum gray siding and wooden fence. Interior walls are adorned with colorful renderings of faded rock icons like Jim Morrison. Patrons' random graffiti and hundreds of vintage bumper stickers enhance the overall grunge effect.
The Draw
A late happy hour takes place everyday from 9pm until 11pm, serving up $1.50 well drinks and domestic bottles. The jukebox offers one of the most unique indie rock and punk selections in town, including Modest Mouse and The White Stripes. Some musicians have even been known to stop by for a drink. Seats at two picnic tables are coveted on the outdoor patio, but the remnants of an old plywood bar provides a creative bonus seating solution.
