This place has gone downhill! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
by pilotjosh25 at Citysearch
I've been going to Mo Mong for years. I have noticed a slight decline but after tonight's meal, I will never be back. It took over 20 minutes to get our Mango Chicken Spring roll app. My martini tasted like Robitussin and cost $9.00 - wayy too much. Our food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. Keep in mind we were one of maybe 3 or 4 parties in the entire restaurant. When we were served, the plates were chipped and cracked. I don't know what happened to this place but it's horrible now. I would recommend dining elsewhere.
- Pros: Food tastes OK
- Cons: Chipped plates, slow service, wayyyy overpriced.
Superb

This place should be in every conversation of great Houston eating establishments. The menu is wonderful with so much variety. Today I kept it simple with a grilled pork sandwhich and the pork was melt in your mouth good. The Bangkok Chicken is also very good. Great place!
- Pros: Great Variety
- Cons: None that I have found
hot tranny thai fierce mess

Hey, place was pretty good in my opinion. Service was excellent. Especiall since I over did it with the hot sauce and needed like 4 glasses of water PRONTO. Place was really romantic so that was a plus. Cool music playing. Art work on the wall was a little over priced, but that did not subtract from my dining experience. Pricing was fair as well.
The vermicelli was not the best in houston, (van lock and les girals much better) but it was not bad either. The calamari was pretty crappy, actually really crappy. But, hey, this is a vietnamese restaurant, not italian. Probobly should have listened to the waiter on the food recommendation. My girlfriends plate of noodles was tastey and delish. I watched several cool looking martinis pass by and they looked really good. Not dying to go back there but I wont avoid it either.
- Pros: rainbow friendly, cool staircase, romantic, cool group setting
- Cons: calamari
Great sophisticated vietnamese food

This restaurant is a cool combination of urban and ethnic. The food is consistently good, and they have more than the standard vietnamese restaurants in town. The food has never disappointed us, and the service has always been excellent. There is always good people-watching here, and the patio is fun when the weather is not too hot.
- Pros: Great menu and even better people-watching scene
Top notch grub!!!

Bo luc lac, Mango spring rolls, (don't 4get the mango dipping sauce)YUMM!...Have an ice cold Tiger lager for me my friend, you'll surely appreciate it. Can't wait to go back.
- Pros: Good scenery.
decent food

We read the reviews for Mo Mong and decided to do take out. The service was quick and the interior of the restaurant was trendy but comfortable. We ordered the mango rolls, gu luc lac, and mo mong noodles. Overall the meal was mediocre for the price and I am not sure that I would return. Of the things that we ordered the best dish was the gu luc lac, next the mango rolls and VERY last was the mo mong noodles.
If you are a big fan of Asian food I would not expect anything amazing from this restaurant.
Strip mall Vietnamese spot in the heart of Montrose known for their killer martinis and Wednesday night parties.

In Short
Though the small space can get a little noisy at peak times, the regulars at this longtime neighborhood spot count on Asian fusion menu favorites like the varied spring rolls (sample mango and chicken, coconut shrimp or duck varieties), fried oysters with a wasabi-tinged sauce, volcano chicken, wasabi crabcakes, duck salad, and curry and noodle dishes. In addition to a variety of sakes, the drink menu includes wildly popular fruit-infused martinis including mango, raspberry and ginger.
My first date
by coog78 at Citysearch
This is where my partner of 4 years and I went on our first date. We have been back dozens of times since. The food, alcoholic beverages, and atmosphere are pleasant and modern. Located in the heart of the gayberhood, it is the perfect place to let down with friends or bring that special someone. The bo luc lac has always been one of my favorites. The volcano chicken is great for spice. Sping rolls are always above average - I recommend the coconut shrimp spring rolls. The chocolate martini will make you want to head straight to Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco. Mo mong, you are a dream!
- Pros: food, service, atmosphere
- Cons: parking when busy
what happened??
by vzephyr at Citysearch
When I first discovered Mo Mong - hidden from view in the dark corner of a small shopping center - I was pleasantly suprised. The food and the service was excellent and the atmosphere was clean and modern (though I really think they should paint the place a warmer color than slate blue). This remained for the next year or so that we went there. Then, within the last two months, I have ordered ToGo at Mo Mong at least 5 times - and the food is not as good as it used to be!
The Mo Mong noodles - one of my favorites - isn't as flavorful. The chicken in the sweet and sour chicken is barely there - smothered in breading. The General Tso's chicken was barely edible the last time I ordered there - the breading was so hard! The white rice has been overcooked 3 or the 5 times. I really don't think the quality should change that much when ordering ToGo. It seems the quality has declined. I guess I would say go see for yourself - it's worth a try - especially since I have been ordering out - but, I wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion.
Try it.

I've been going to Mo Mong for about 5 years now, and I have only once been dissappointed in the food.
Sometimes I'll just order appetizers because they are soooo good.
The atmosphere is great. They rotate the art, and the people watching is really good. For a relatively small place, it can get loud, so don't go there for a romantic evening.
The service is generally a little slow, so keep that in mind.
Best mooshu (spelling?) chicken there is.
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere
- Cons: Sometimes slow servic
