First, let me start my story by saying I didn't have good credit and I certainly didn't have any money saved. I wanted to buy a place about six months ago, but because of my situation and the mortgage industry being turned upside down, I didn't have any luck. One place I tried mysteriously went out of business and another just strung me along for weeks, just to tell me they were sorry! My biggest mistake was to try both of those big companies that you see on TV all of the time. They're just phone people who sell the leads to banks...my credit got pulled...I don't know how many times! WELL, I heard through a friend of this guy John Frels at Mortgage Associates. They seemed very happy with him so I called. He went over my credit with me, suggested that I pay down on some credit cards, write some credit explanation letters to the bureaus and helped me plan a budget to save for some downpayment money. TODAY.....My credit score is better....John set me up with a really nice Realtor....and I just closed on a new home! I can't tell you enough how WONDERFUL I feel!!!

I usually don't review things, but I had such a great experience with Mortgage Associates of Texas, I felt I needed to tell everyone I could. I just bought my second home and was a little nervous about working on my mortgage because I had a horrible experience with another company my first time. My new Broker John Frels explained everything throughout the process and made me feel like I was totally involved. My Realtor said that it was the smoothest closing he had ever seen and that Mortgage Associates will be his favorite recomendation from now on. So here I am... I thought I'd just return the favor and say nice things about John and his company. If you want a GREAT mortgage experience... CALL JOHN!
Pros: I give John TWO Thumbs Up..

I knew NOTHING about the home buying process, but my loan officer explained things to me in easy to understand terms, got a great rate and the closing went without a hitch. They also helped me with my relocation by suggesting a doctor, dentist, pool contractor, they are very well connected. They are at least worth calling. I'll send them my business next time I need a loan for my investment properties as well.
Pros: friendly, knowledgable, well connected

Knowledge is definitely power! I had never bought a home before...and Mortgage Associates not only made it a great experience...they taught me the whole mortgage process! My Realtor was thrilled to have a borrower who was pre-approved and knew all of the financing details before we set out to find a home. Whenever I overhear someone talking about buying a home...I always tell them about Mortgage Associates of Texas!!!

When everyone else said it couldn't be done - Jon Frels and his team pulled through for me. From the ease of the application process to underwriting to a gift when I moved into my new home, everything was easy and hassle free. I would recommend this knowledgable broker and staff to anyone and will certianly use them again when I its time for another home loan! Thanks Mortgage Associates!!!
