this food qualifies as horrible
by endame
the service was fine and the ambiance but the food was the most boring, tasteless i have ever experienced in chinese food. there was no wait, actually there were only 3 or 4 occupied tables in this large restaurant. don't go there!
An authentic Chinese eatery dishing out consistently good fare.

The Scene
Amiable and engaging, though not a high-profile spot where you'd dazzle a date or impress a business client. Instead, Fu's Garden offers reliable service, comfort and consistently good, if conventional, food at affordable prices.
The Food
Along with the usual array of Hunan standards like the richly sauced moo shu pork and crepes, highlights include a pleasantly eye-tearing kung pao chicken and a nicely spiced curry beef with onions. Fu's offers a half dozen or so low calorie dishes that are worth noting. These are concoctions prepared in a bamboo steamer, cutting down on calories but, more importantly, allowing the natural flavors to shine through. Subtle chicken, shrimp and salmon variations appeal to the delicate palate.
Yummy!

Fu's has the best steamed pork dumplings in all of Houston! This is my favorite thing on the menu! I absolutley love it!!!
- Pros: great value, friendly staff
Tried and true

We use the Richmond location for take-out. The ladies who take our order are always nice. They even said they missed me when I had not ordered in 4-5 weeks this summer. Best for take-out or dine-in before 7:00 in the evenings, or the freshness wears off. Great chicken w/ veggie soup, moo shoo chicken. Decor doesn't do much for me, but they do a lot of lunch business. Good, basic Chinese reaturant with weveral locations in Houston.
- Pros: delivery or take-out, attentive service, solid, basic food
Great place

I have to admit the food here is very good if you are looking for non-traditional chinese food. I enjoy that the food si not soaked in MSG or greesy at all. The wait staff is usually very nice. Sometimes it is hit or miss with the waiters. The lunch menu is very affordable and the eggrolls that come with the lunch are the best.
- Pros: Egg rolls, lunch specials, Foos is great
- Cons: waiters
Mmmm!

The food here is excellent! The chicken is all white meat, the vegitables are fresh and crisp and the selection is great. And, they offer lunch specials on the weekends! What a bargain. I wish they would open a Fu's Garden in the Heights!
- Pros: quick service, fresh ingredients
Fu's = Best in H-town? I don't think so
by modtigre
This is the worst chinese food I have ever had in my life. Everything is horribly bland and can only be labeled "chinese food" in the academic sense. Save your money and head to Kam's on Montrose... Even Hunan Dragon on the corner of West Alabama and Shepherd is better than Fu's Garden.
best chinese food

Excellent food, especially their General Tso's Chicken and combo fried rice, and warn service.
Would recommend to any one who likes Full service chinese rest.
Hot, Brown & Plenty Of It

Fu's Garden is to Chinese food what Taco Cabanna is to Mexican food: Tex-Chin. The dishes range from edible to good - but I would hardly call this Chinese food. To give credit where credit is due, this is definitely a step up from Chinese buffet, but I think that most of the people who gave this chain restaurant high ratings have never had authentic, freshly prepared Chinese food. This is really too bad, because if Houstonians demanded it, we would have more authentic restaurant choices. Unfortunately, as long as the market continues to demand it, we will continue to get "La Choy" style food.
- Pros: lunch <$10, (usually)fast service
- Cons: limited parking, the Dennys of Chinese
My favorite place in Houston

I left Houston 10 years ago and just got back for a visit this last Spring. For our first lunch back in town we headed straight to Fu's. It's still as good as I remember. Great Service, large lunch portions for the money. The orange chicken is the best!
- Pros: Great food, Inexpensive
- Cons: poor parking
