Boutique with great gifts!
by sarbear7274 at Citysearch
Doodles helped me find the PERFECT unique gifts for some friends that just gave birth. At one of my girlfriend's showers, my gift was the most oohed and ahhed over...I definitely picked the right gift, thanks to Doodles!
- Pros: Selection, Atmosphere, Locationt
- Cons: None

I do not know how this place stays in business, i have been there several times as i am hosting a baby shower and every instance where interaction was to be had between myself and an employee was disastrous. I was an inconvenience for the staff, and when i mentioned this to the owner she conceeded and basically said that i could take my business elsewhere and that they were extremely busy. Well, i wanted to let every one know i did take my business elsewhere-Thank you Bering's children's dept(manager is a delight to work with on special order items) and to the manager at doodles who was so rude you-lost out on $1200 of my business and the 30 attendees at our shower. Hope your attitude changes since you do not advertise.Word of mouth could end up being your demise:(
- Pros: cute stuff
- Cons: horrible staff-there's only 5 so improvement should be easy
One word :RUDE!

It never occured to me to read the reviews on a baby store before heading over to get ready for my baby. The store is cute, thougth over crowded and a bit over priced, but that is fine it's a boutique after all. The owner and some employees are so rude and unwilling to help that you just get so turned off and want to turn back and leave. The owner is extremely argumentative and just generally makes you feel very uncomfortable. it is a baby store for heavens sake, and this woman knows nothing about customer service, or even basic communications skills! One truly wonders how she can stay in business?I predict this store will close down as Bellini and others have , due to the terrible way they have treated people. You can't run a business based on cute stuff alone. There are many people that would never give this woman their business or step foot in her store. Trust me , know one has anything nice to say about this place.Just ask people who have been there! I thought it was just me at first , or that i misunderstood,or that i am pregnant and just sensitive. it turns out there are many other peole that have had really upsetting and bad experiences with this store.
Always trust that reviews will have some truth to them. Why would anyone write nasty untrue reviwes about a baby store? I will certainly read more reviwes from now on and certainly be a more resposible citizen by voicing my opinion and writing reviews, good and bad. No one should be treated like this!
- Cons: Rude owner, crowded, hard to navigate with stroller, return policy has no flexibility, did I mention rude owner?
There are other places to shop with better service.

I recently talked to a very dear friend that spent many hours registering at Doodles for her first baby shower . When shower guest were at the store trying to purchase gifts from her registery the store was unable to access the registry. When my friend called to let them know that her friends were unable to access her registery (not upset - just trying to let them know there was a problem and it needed to be corrected) the owner was very rude and disrespectful. She informed my friend that they had bigger problems than her registry and she would be happy to delete her registry right then and my friend didn't have to shop at her store.
Personally, I am going to take the owners advice and not shop at her store as well as tell all of my friends. I know that there are stresses involved with owning a business, but without customers, you won't be in business.
As far as the owners review defending herself.... not everyone can be wrong - there must be something to this if there are that many complaints.
They yell at pregnant women!
by mabousa at Citysearch
Rude! Rude! Rude! One person in particular (the mother Irene), is the most spiteful , bitter and ill mannered person I have ever had to deal with in the retail world. My dog has better manners than she does (sorry my sweet dog!). She really should not be in the baby and expectant mother business, or any retail business for that matter. I am 8 months pregnant and being a Doodles customer has been the only negatibve part of my pregancy. She has been insulting to me as well as well as friends and family members trying to buy me gifts off my registry .She has upset me and many other pregnant women beyond belief. The way she has treated me and others is sickening. She has done everything from suggesting I register else where, to telling me that my registry was not her prioroty., yell at me inf ront of customers, and my favourite .. hanging up on me! and i found out she has done it to many many peopel as well, I just could not believe anyone could be so rude!
I am a very savvy internet shopper and so are more and more people these days.Doodles is over stuffed, and overpriced. There is nothing in that store that you can't buy on line or at other stores , just down the street! minus the rudeness and the bad attitude of course. I registered there because i thought it was a cute little store people might enjoy shopping at. Their return and exchange policy is hideous. Oh yes, when i can barely lift myself , or when i am in labour or after giving birth my priorety is to rush to Doodles so i don't miss the generous 10 day exchange period! This store will certainly go out of business if they don't improve their attitude. I know that i will never ever set foot in that store ever again, neither will any of my friends or aquaintances. She has just lost a lot business, and that's sad. but what is more sad is writing yourself positive reviews!!!! Now , that is just pathetic.
Lots of cute stuff, but their registry service leaves something to be desired
by HHK at Citysearch
Doodles is a very cute boutique that has a wide assortment of baby and children's gifts. The quality of the merchandise is wonderful, and I have always found the staff to be pleasant when I visited. My only gripe is that their registry service leaves something to be desired. First of all, I registered there in July/August, yet my registry was not posted online for weeks because they forgot to download it - I had to call them to ask why it wasn't showing up on the Doodles website. Second, registry items that I'd already received were still on the website after I'd received them almost 3 weeks before, and when I called to correct the mistakes, I was told that they were probably busy and had made a few mistakes in updating my registry, no apologies. For me, the whole purpose of setting up a baby registry is so that I won't have to deal with receiving duplicate items and having to physically go to the store and return gifts when I have a new baby on my hands. If you want high quality baby gifts, Doodles is a great place to shop, but I'd advise against setting up a registry there until they have a better system in place to track items that are bought.
The BEST children's store in Texas!!!!

I have visited many baby boutiques in my quest to have the nursery of my dreams, and the moment I found Doodles I knew it was the place for me...and everyone else with a child! They have an enormous selection of "special" items for all children. I did my whole nursery with them two years ago, and I recently returned to them to help prepare for baby number 2. Their expertise in nursery design is outstanding! They are not only good at what they do, they are kind and willing to help you in anyway. I value this store and regret the unfortunate reviews written by others. This store offers everything a child needs or wants. I think the staff is great and the merchandise is not only quality, but like no other around. If you have a child or need a gift for one, you MUST visit this "land of dreams!"
- Pros: variety of items, quality merchandise, helpful staff, UNIQUE items not found everywhere else,
- Cons: parking, very busy store, some stuff is pricey-but worth it!
Don't Register for your Baby Shower

We received gifts for our baby and one of them was from Doodles. I tried to return it the next weekend and they said I needed to know the persons name that bought the gift. THEY DON'T GIVE GIFT RECEIPTS. I gave them the name and they said they didn't sell anything to that person. Then they accused me of trying to "pull a fast one" on them. Turned out that the item was bought by my best friend's husband and not her. THEY NEEDED TO KNOW HIS NAME - They were rude, confrontational and will not get any of my future business. What a shame, because their product is cute - VERY expensive, but adorable.
- Pros: Cute but expensive clothing
- Cons: Horrible return policy - they won't let you return anything unless you jump through hoops
I've tried ALL the rest! Doodles is by far the best!

I have never written a review for anything before, but after reading what has been written about Doodles; the store, the staff, the owners...I feel I must. I first went to Doodle's before the birth of my 21 month old daughter. I met the owner, Lisa, right away and she helped me with crib bedding. I had no idea what I wanted as far as decor for the nursery. She spent COUNTLESS hours with me on MANY trips to the store choosing custom bedding and various furniture and decorative pieces, great gliders, for my nursery...which is adorable thanks to her help and patience. I now also have 5 month old triplets. Of course I went right back to Doodles for everything. Same scenario. Many trips, many hours..and everyone was always helpful and put up with my fickle mind changes. Lisa even talked to me from her cell phone on her day off (I called the store first) while I was trying to buy cheaper fabric at another store and didn't know how many yards to get for the crib bumpers! She helped me buy cheaper fabric! In addition, because I was having triplets, she offered me a discount on all of my purchases! Does this sound like rude owners? The staff ALWAYS adresses me by name when I go to the store and ALL of them are helpful. They ALWAYS check the back if I need something that is not on the floor and will even custom order if I need (it's hard to buy for triplets!). Christie even calls me at home if they get something in that she thinks I will like. I now consider the owners, Lisa, and her mother Irene, and the staff, Christie, Pat, Angela, all of them, my friends.
I am shocked at the negative reviews written here and I have to wonder if THOSE aren't in fact written by owners of competing stores. The bottom line is, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. I'd be willing to bet that if you are getting rude treatment or bad service, it is in response to your own bad attitude and rude behavior. There is no other baby store in Houston that can compare to Doodle's.
GREAT!
