This Museum District venue caters to curious youngsters who need room to discover.

The Scene
Visitors approaching the building know immediately that this is a thinking child's playground, thanks to the friendly architecture that includes giant children "holding up" the sides of the structure with outstretched arms. This is the kind of place where youngsters play while learning. Appreciative parents can participate or observe.
The Collection
An auditorium and rooms for classes and celebrations make the museum multifunctional, while the main attraction, 14 galleries of interactive exhibits, educate and fascinate. Visit a Mexican mountain village, test water quality, make giant bubbles, or produce your own TV show. Attention spans are expected to be short here and energy high, so restless souls are encouraged to go out and play in the enclosed courtyard. Adults who come here by themselves or who tag along can take advantage of the parents' resource library.
Miraculous Museum

This museum is WONDERFUL! It provides a great hands-on learning environment and family learning is highly encouraged throughout the museum, so you can have fun playing with your kids while they learn. Children are encouraged to learn through play and experimentation. The have many terrific galleries, each of which engages the child's mind. Finally, the staff people, which are on the floor in nearly every exhibit, are great sources of information and exceedingly helpful.
- Pros: Very Inexpensive, Helpful Staff, Hands-on learning
- Cons: Not much for age 13+

Children of all ages love the interactive exhibits. The price is great, really inexpensive.

The Children's Museum is a great place to spend some quality time with your little ones. My 2 year old had a great time. We will go back again. Additionally, the price of admission can't be beat.

When my family and I visited the Children's Museum of Houston, we were extremely impressed by the coexistence of so much fun and educational opportunities present. The staff made us feel as if we were truly welcome, and they made sure that we were having a good time. The museum was not only there to please the children, but it also brought out the child in the grownup visitors as well. I highly recommend the Children's Museum of Houston to all families across the globe!
- Pros: educational, lots of fun, great bargain
- Cons: crowded but exciting
Interactive Fun
by janet_mustain
This is a great place for a family outing. They have stuff for kids of all ages (yes Mom & Dad, you are included too!) And, unlike a normal quite, hands off museum, the kids can touch, create, and have a great time learning! This is a great place to encourage kids to have a "life-long" love of learning!
very interactive

Lots of neat interactive displays that are very interesting for kids to do with their hands. By the way I have been to the Children's Museum in Chicago at Navy Pier and it's not 1/2 as good as Houstons. My children can play for hours in the "river courtyard" learning about how water flows. There's really a lot of things to do for my 2 year old, 4 year old, as well as my 10 year old. The staff is very friendly and eager to help the kids.
Lunch area is small, though.
- Pros: exhibits, staff, price
- Cons: food/meal space, could be cleaner
