Awesome sound

by Leahplum

I have seen several bands at this venue, and it's always awesome. The sound is great, and it's a really intimate experience, no matter where you're sitting. You should be aware, however, that even though a seat # is listed, if it says GA before it, it's standing room only. Also, the bar lines get long, but there are bars everywhere, which I discovered after waiting in a super long line in the lobby. If a band you love is playing there you'd be a fool to miss it.

  • Pros: Intimate, great sound
  • Cons: Parking sucks

They weren't upfront about seating

by MarkHa

My wife and I attended the Rob Thomas concert at the Verizon. It was our first time at Verizon but we are a fairly experienced at this. When I bought tickets for $63 each online it gave me a row G26 and 2 seats;12 and 13. It even threatened I would lose my 2 seats when I went to get my credit card to pay. Printed out my tickets and showed up at 7:40 for the 8:00 show. The lady who looked at my tickets said "You are going to be surprised". Didn't know what she meant until we rounded the corner and saw the crowd all standing in front of the stage. Not one single seat. When I went to the front door to see if I could upgrade my tickets the Supervisor told me there was no re-entry if I left. I told her my intentions and she looked at my ticket and said it shows GAFloor right on my ticket. What part about floor didn't I understand. I told her the part about Row 26 and seat 12. Seat meant a place to put your seat. She disagreed. Said I could not re-enter if I left. Went back to my wife and the lady who had checked my ticket told me people left all the time if you were going to your car or the ATM. You just unscan your ticket to leave and re scan to return. Had the tickets been $35, or said SRO, I would have worn more comfortable shoes or just declined to go. Everyone around us was complaining. Not sure what we could have done to prevent this. It was simply management taking advantage in my opinion. Won't be returning to Verizon for sure. Rob Thomas was great.

Very Dissapointing

by GeneralDoolittle

I went to verizon last night with some friends to see CAKE. The show started really early -8pm which was a little dissapointing as its hard to make it down there in time after work. I think there may be a city ordinance about sound after 10 or 10:30 in that area. The bathrooms were kind of gross, and I was shocked to see only one bartender working at a bar with three people behind it and one incredibly long line for beer. Seriously? Do you even want to make money at your venue?

I have seen many shows at this venue, while the sound is still pretty good, the quality has really gone downhill and it just doesnt seem worth the trip ..

Its because of this that I am so much less likely to fork out the money for a band during tough times if they are playing at verizon. With great venues in town like warehouse live and house of blues, its a wonder to me why bands even book at verizon.

Verizon is weak Venue

by DEL1021

Would not recommend the Verizon for any show or event. The place was a mess.....restrooms were broken and the floor was nasty. The seating for cheech and chong was a joke. They did not manage the people flow and there folks up and down the aisle during the show. The sound system was weak and have no future plans to visit this place!

  • Pros: nice location downtown
  • Cons: smell, seating, restrooms, sound, etc.....

Not A Bad Set Personal Venue

by janebond77090

I love the concerts here and i agree with the others there is not a bad seat in the house. Also as far as dirty if we all use trash cans and not the floor it would not be dirty in the first place. I think the close seats and close quaters give it a very personal experience and you get to the artist up close. Love going here especially with the Hard Rock right next door for dinner and drinks before the concert.

For such a small venue i think it rocks and have always had a great time here. 5 stars

  • Pros: Every Seat Is A Great View

Best Venue

by isabellasedai

This is my favorate place to goto a show. And to that guy that said the woodlands pavilion is th best place in Houston was completely WRONG, who wants to watch a show through binouculars and rain? The Verison sound was awsome from where I was at every show I've gone two, and It is a very clean venue. At the concerts I went to it did get dirty towards the end, but be realistic people, it is impossible to keep that entire place clean with that many people there. Also, the place would stay clean if you picked up after yourself so, don't go calling a place dirty if your the slob that made it messy!

  • Pros: Good clean venue
  • Cons: Beer prices

eh...

by zialxa

I went to Verizon Wireless to see Seether and Shinedown back in January 06. The show was great, the bands preformances were top-notch, but the the VWT wasn't. The place was just nasty!! The only thing I enjoyed from the facility is the fact that there are no bad seats, vision wise. They are crampt and very uncomfortable for a long show. The facility can really drag down a performance.

  • Pros: Sightlines
  • Cons: Acoustics, comfort, and cleanliness.

This versatile space can accommodate a mosh pit, an intimate cabaret or a traditional theater production.

by Contributor

In Short
As part of the larger Bayou Place entertainment complex, the crowds can be thick and parking a challenge. But you really can't beat the Verizon for its wide selection of entertainment choices and Bayou Place as a whole for pre- and post-concert entertainment and refreshments. Although there's really not a bad seat in the house as far as unobstructed views go, don't be surprised if you're crammed into tightly packed rows of seats for some productions.

Worse Downtown Experience!!

by kingskid50

The seating in this theater reminded me of parent's day in an elementary school. Cramp, close seating with short leg space. Most uncomfortable experience in a long time. Combined with the poor audio system it was difficult to enjoy the play. So much so, that we left during intermission of Casino's opening night. In my disappointment, this experience was immediately shared with my wide email network. My rating for this theater is a MINUS 5!

  • Pros: temperature setting
  • Cons: small seats, narrow seats, uncomfortable seats
