Overrated and Disappointing
by razorwyre at Citysearch
I have lived at the Post Midtown Square for over a year and I am disappointed with the place. I expected a lot more for a $1100 a month studio apartment! The unit itself has a lot of things that bother me. When they slapped a new coat of paint on the walls it splattered fine drips all over the kitchen counter that I am unable to take off. The garbage disposal burned out within a month and had to be replaced. The overall feel of the cabinetry is cheap, as is the el-cheap vinyl tile floor. The AC for the unit drains into the bathtub which leaves horrible rust colored stains that have to be removed every week, embarrassing if you have company. The walls in the bathroom were poorly repaired when numerous towel racks have been ripped off leaving intents and wavy marks. When I first got into the unit ever the leasing rep was surprised at how filthy the carpets were. He promised to "have them steam cleaned twice". Well even after that when I moved in they were still stained and discolored, again embarrassing. When I complained I was told that "they were not bad enough to warrant replacement" and "would probably be replaced after my lease." Wow, thanks for taking care of me!
The overall layout of the structure is horrible. The parking is in a completely different building that is across the street that you have to walk up many flights of stairs to get to your car. The garage itself is extremely narrow and at each corner you risk damage to your vehicle as you have to squeeze by other tenants going the other way .Parking on the street is difficult to find. The elevator in my building is broken AT LEAST once a week for more than a day. It usually takes a day or two to fix it, and if it breaks on a Friday well I guess you have to wait till Monday for that! A minor annoyance for me living on 4th floor, I feel sorry when I see people moving and I know the elevator is broken. Welcome to the crappy Post!
I kick myself every day for not living in another complex in Midtown.
- Pros: Location is great, some unique floorplans
- Cons: Expensive, Horrible Parking, Poorly Constructed Units, Broken Elevators
Do not move here!

I have lived in Post for the past year and regret haven giving them a dime. The management is very sleezy and unprofessional and the apartments are outrageously overpriced for the size and quality. I have had nothing but bad experiences with the offices staff the few times I ever needed anything. Whenever I have had maintenance issues, I have had a hard time getting someone to come by. There are frequent apartment and car break-ins in the area as well. My friends live in other apartments in the area that are much nicer for what they pay. I don't normally ever write these reviews but I have been so upset with my experience at Post, that I was motivated to write one. Do not move there!
- Pros: none
- Cons: staff, price, quality of living
THE part of town to be in
by angel814 at Citysearch
If you are under 25 and single this is THE place to be. It's expensive and each of the apartment complexes in the area have their pros and cons, but this is the best part of Houston to live in for young apartment dwellers. It's within walking distance of the best bars and several restaurants and all of the apartment complexes have great weekend pool scenes.
- Pros: LOCATION
- Cons: not as nice as some of the surrounding apartment complexes
Residents bask in a unique urban experience at this upscale Midtown community catering to young professionals and recent transplants
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
Whether it's the safe and convenient walk home from their favorite watering hole or the nearby pedestrian access to dining and shopping, residents enjoy a location and atmosphere virtually unparalleled in Houston. Community amenities include many socially-minded extras like outdoor fireplaces and a fitness center large enough to induce new friendships. Interior touches like hardwood floors, berber carpet and garden-style bathtubs provide for an equally as enjoyable experience at home.
Desperate for tenants and money
by tenantvoice at Citysearch
I would just like to say that my experience with Post Properties has gone from highly satisfied to completely disgusted! Every lease renewal, no matter what the length of the lease is, there is a significant rent increase. Also Post has made the rent increases rediculously high if you sign anything less than a 1 year lease contract. Management is blaming all the rent increases on a new "software" that raises rent and management supposibly has no control over. If the software is in control then why do we even need anyone in the leasing office. Sounds like to me this is just thier way of being able to say "yes I know everyones rent is increasing but since it is controlled by the new "software" we unfortunately cant do anything about it - oh my! Aside from rent increases, costs for utilities/sewer/water have also been raised and is calculated by the square feet of your living space. Do you think they could find other ways to get even more money out of tenants? Of course they did! Post also has this briliant idea to make even more money by selling off the parking slots to those who want the better of the parking spaces. I am anticipating that I will recieve a notice saying that all tenants will now have to pay to park very soon. I have been a tenant for several years and this has all occured within the last year. Please do your research before you get under the hand of Post Properties. One last thing...the other positive reviews sound like they were written by post mgmt themselves.
- Cons: Inside of building smells
Excellent Management!
by pattymya at Citysearch
I have lived here for over a year and a half! This complex is conviently located and has the best apartment management i have ever dealt with. Anytime i need a repair or have a question the staff quickly and courteously deal with my requests. i have never had to request a repair twice and usually the maintenance staff will show up within the next few days to work on my request.
While some people may complain about the parking, this is an apartment complex in downtown. They provide plenty of parking in the Garage which many residents choose not to park in and risk parking in retail parking (which might tow) or on the street (where you can get a ticket)! They provide residents with a sticker to place on your car to prevent towing if you are properly parked in resident parking. I have never been towed but received tickets when i chose to park on the street sometimes. (meters or 2 hour parking)
Bottom line: this is a great complex with reasonable prices for the location and friendly and efficient management. A great choice for any person who wants the location and benefit of good management!
- Pros: Managment, Location, GYM!
- Cons: none!
DO NOT LIVE HERE.
by bagdalas at Citysearch
Do not be fooled into thinking it is a "convenient" place too live. Aside from the rent being too high, this place is a parking nightmare. Last night my car broke down and my Dad lent me his truck to get back to my apartment. After driving around for 30 minutes and not being able to find any street parking, and not wanting to park in the "retail" parking for fear of getting towed, I parked my truck in the gated garage. My husband and I woke the next morning to find we had been towed, and had to pay $200 to get the truck back. Any normal apartment complex would gladly refund the money for such a mistake, but not Post Midtown Square. Trust me when I tell you that these people do not deserve your business.
From Yuppie Den to Law School Frat House
by binkley at Citysearch
When I moved in in 1999, Post Midtown Square was a great place if you worked downtown. The downtown trolleys had a stop at the stoop on Baldwin and the buildings were filled with professionals.
Move forward to 2006 and the place is filled with loud, drunken, scantily-clad law school students. There are beer cans and cigarette butts all over after the weekend, loud music and late night parties even during the work week, and the Metro rail killed the downtown trolleys.
The staff remains excellent, but they haven't been able to keep the renter demographics the same as they once were. It's not really Post's fault. The fall of Enron and related debacles killed a lot of the professional jobs downtown (at least temporarily), and Metro cancelled the trolleys which made the commute a pleasure rather than a chore.
