Good Food!!!

by jaycat26

We did not have any bad experiences like the other reviewers, but maybe they improved their service since then. We had a really enjoyable meal at the Chelsea Grill.

I had the fried chicken, which was very tasty, and my fiancee had the pork chop, which was also very good. We also enjoyed the chocolate mousse cake dessert (I can't remember the name). The service was attentive and the ambiance was nice. The restaurant had a pretty good crowd for a Tuesday night.

The one improvement that could be made is that the restaurant could provide bread as an appetizer. The menu states that the fried chicken could take approximately 16-20 mins to cook, so a little something to munch on would be nice.

We will definitely return, and I would like to try the breakfast brunch.

BLLEEEHHHHHH!

by andrick4ever

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! The first time we went to this restaurant our food took 45 MINUTES to prepare and it came out room temperature and then there was a HAIR in it! I hear that happens alot! We asked for the bottomless mimosas that are advertised on the website and they told us we couldn't have them anymore!!

Both times we went we were the only table in the restaurant which had Justin Bieber on loop!!

love it here!!!

by markymark880

first off i wanna say i love this place! i mostly been here for lunch which is great, foods fast and sum really great lunch options. i absolutly loved the southwest wrap and it came with thier famous shoestring mixture yum! also must try the sweet potato wontons they are to die for!!! but i do have to say my favorite time going there is sunday brunch. the place is always so lively and happening. and the waiter told me that on thier 2nd and 4th sundays they have live jazz band come play. though they dont have bottomless mimosas anymore(something to do with T.A.B.C. not allowing it at resturants anymore) but they did have $2mimosas and $4 mango mimosas(extra delicous!) also $2well vodka drinks too!!! i would suggest reservations if your going to bring a large party with you though, they fill up quite fast. the servious was also really good my mimosa was always full and he kept making sure i had everything i needed, overly a very great expiernce.

HAIR IN BOTH DISHES DISGUSTING

by spruitt

DOESN'T DESERVE ANY STARS.

My husband & I visited the Chelsea Grill on a Friday evening around 8pm. We noticed that the restaurant was nearly empty with the exception of a small party in the back & another table w/ 2couples dining. The second sign that made us uneasy about the restaurant was that the linen napkins were crusty with holes in them. We were both thinking "If a restaurant can't keep up w/their linens what is the quality of the food"? So we went ahead & ordered 2 plates of fried chicken, & were very excited b/c we had read great reviews online. When our plates came out w/steaming hot food our mouths were watering with anticipation. As I cut into my chicken I moved it on the plate & as I moved it aside I noticed a small black HAIR that was curled into the mashed potatoes under the chicken. I knew there was no way that it was my hair concerning the place of the hair on my plate. Then my husband became very nervous to eat his dish so he started inspecting his food as well. Well sure enough under his chicken there was a HAIR IN HIS FOOD TOO!!! Needless to say we returned our food ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. The server mentioned that they would get the manager over to explain or apologize for our poor experience. Well the manager came to our table & preceded to say that that has NEVER happened in their restaurant & that all of their cooks wear hairnets. She was insinuating that we planted hair in our food!!!!! We will NEVER return to the Chelsea Grill & hope this review convinces everyone to AVOID THIS RESTAURANT @ ALL COSTS. THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY GOOD RESTAURANTS IN HOUSTON THAT WILL PROVIDE BETTER FOOD & SERVICE.

Not worth the trip!

by londie1

I tried this place because I purchased a Groupon for them. I am so relieved I did not pay full price. The food is mediocre at best. I ordered their chicken club with cardboard (that's what the bread tasted like). It definitely gave my mouth a workout. My husband ordered the seafood enchiladas which should really be renamed to fish enchiladas since the filling was all fish. Service was average. If you want a cold drink bring your own ice for it seems they don't like to put much ice in your drinks. I loved the location of this restaurant but was very disappointed with the food. If you have a half price coupon or if someone else is paying, go. However, if you are paying full price, find a better restaurant to spend your hard earned money at.

Good food, BAD SERVICE

by skoozz

I ordered the quesadilla breakfast/brunch special. My guest ordered a hamburger. The waiter stated you both get fries is that ok? I said no, mine comes with breakfast potatoes. He said, right right, his comes with fries, is that ok? Yes. A couple minutes later I realize I hadn't given our waiter my choice of eggs so when I called him over, he said no, I had ordered the regular quesadillas. I asked did they come with potatoes like we talked about. No answer, he fled the table and came back with a full order of chicken quesadillas, no eggs no potatoes. I said this is not what I ordered. He left the table, leaving the food behind. I pushed the food away. Nearly 5 minutes later he came back to the table with my guest's burger. He did not comment on the unwanted quesadillas and again fled the table. On his next visit, my guest was done with his meal, he was clearly avoiding us. I told the waiter to take the quesadilla and to take them off the bill as it was not what I had ordered. I came in for breakfast/brunch, not an appetizer. After about ten minutes he came back stating he had talked to the manager and said that nothing could be done. He then told us that he paid for quesadillas himself to make it right. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This waiter was made to pay for food that was a mistake? The management wasn’t willing to make the situation right? Was this a guilt trip for us to pay for the entire meal even though we didn't eat it nor order it? We will never go back to the chelsea grill. They are obviously more interested in the bottom line and not the satisfaction of it's customers. I am a professional Mystery Shopper and can tell you that chelsea grill would rate high for food, abysmal for service and customer satisfaction. Sunday, February 14, 2010. Our Valentine’s out. Thanks for making it ever so special.

  • Pros: Great Hamburger
  • Cons: Did NOT get what I ordered and tehy would not fix

Citysearch Editorial Review

by Nikki Metzgar

This upscale casual spot serves as a convenient weekday stopover for both Montrose and the Museum District locals. The menu of comforting cafe food has all the usual suspects, from generously portioned salads to hearty pastas, with small, elevated touches like shiitakes on the quesadilla and green chile mayo on the buffalo burger. The shoestring mix of sweet and white potatoes is deliciously crispy and a surprising number of wines are available for diners to wash it down with. Stationed inside Chelsea Market, the modern interior is dimly lit and large, filled with both tables and velvety couches. The real draw, however, is the patio--a pleasant setting for warm weather Sunday brunch.

"Upscale Casual"

by dressurkoenig

This new Montrose-area restaurant appropriately describes itself as "upscale casual," which it certainly is. The atmosphere and decor is very upscale: low lights, contemporary decor, candlelight, great music, and conversation niches with overstuffed chairs (perfect for wine and appetizers). The menu is casual but varied (think Raven Grill or Barnaby's). They grind their own hamburger, and accompany the burgers with shoestring white and sweet potato fries. Mine was perfectly cooked and one of the best in town. In addition to the burgers and sandwiches, there are a variety of interesting salads and good number of entrees, and all are priced at $9-12, which is perhaps the greatest attraction to the Chelsea Grill. They also have a good wine list, and my glass was large and full. This place is definitely worth a try: good, basic menu with a very comfortable atmosphere. I will definitley be back, and soon!

  • Pros: Great atmosphere, food, and prices
  • Cons: Hasn't been discovered by enough people
