It isn't as delicious as some people have claimed it to be
by etather at Citysearch
I have been very excited to visit Crave Cupcakes because they are one of my favorite desserts. My first and recent visit was in October this year, and it was near closing time. I ordered the macadamia flavor and after my first bite,it isn't the most amazing cupcake I have ever had. The cake itself was a bit dense and the icing was incredibly sweet. I don't have an extreme sweet tooth, so the icing didn't make the cut. I thought the cupcake also lacked in flavor, but overall,it wasn't horrible.
However, the service was something else. I understand it is closing time and some of the girls at the counter might have had a rough day, but I certainly didn't feel welcome. While I was looking at their menu and the display, one of them asked me what I would like to order. Since I wasn't ready, I told her I needed some time. When I was ready and stood in front of the counter waiting, none of the cashiers immediately took my order. Please do take note that the store was hardly crowded and some of the employees did spot me standing there (they still didn't approach the counter). I eventually placed my order, but I wasn't satisfied with my visit. The lack of smile and attention really bothered me.
- Pros: Moist cake,trendy interior,urban location
- Cons: A little pricey,icing is too sweet,service
Used to be good, now just expensive

I used to be a fan of crave cupcakes but recently, my ratings for this local cupcake place have declined. Other friends of mine have had the same experience. A few of my orders recently (last 6 months) have been UNDERCOOKED and flour was left in them or over mixed so they were hard as rocks (no fluffiness) and were just topped with the strawberry cream cheese icing to hide the defect. This hasn't been a one time event, if it had been I wouldn't write this review. Mistakes happen. [at first i thought it was just the strawberry vanilla ones, then it was also the others...] However, as of recent, things have changed and for over $3 a cupcake, I want my money's worth. Needless to say, it was embarrassing that I served a client an undercooked cupcake (which = a cupcake spit up in a napkin)-- luckily, the contract was complete :)
Im sad to say that Crave needs to focus more on its baking than its chicness.
- Pros: Clean, Catchy, Cute
- Cons: Expensive, Poor Flavor
not worth it

I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews for this place. I went today for the first time and was greeted with smiles. I asked for advice on which cupcakes were best and 3 of the people behind the counter offered suggestions and asked me what I liked so they could help pick the best cupcakes. So I had absolutely great service inside. When I finally bit into one of the cupcakes, it was moist, not too sweet and baked perfectly. Nothing dry here. Anyway, loved the place and will definitely go back on a different day to try some of their other varieties!
- Pros: Moist cupcakes with just the right amount of icing
- Cons: Price (but that's true of any cupcake place)
WHO is writing these NEGATIVE reviews???
by cupcaker at Citysearch
Wow, the place is ultra sleek,
the staff super friendly and efficient,
and the cupcakes are moist and
delicious. I suspect the negative
reviews are from wannabe competitors
who lost business to CRAVE.
- Pros: Best cupcakes in town
- Cons: What's not to like?
Cheap....Bad....Tasteless!!!!

First off, The owner's name is Brad Dorsey. Brad is this big shot....restraunt manager..part owner....so on...so on.."I own a stake in a L.A. sushi place...but I only own less than %1 percent"....you know, that type of wannabe aspiring global restraunt entrepeneur. He started this place with the financial backing of a big-shot Hollywood Movie Producer (I should have really put his title of H.M.P. in lower case...since I, or no one I know, has ever heard of the guy. In fact I can't even remember his name....though, I think he may be big in Germany...whatever). So here is Brad and h.m.p. , trying to replicate what they saw during a weekend trip to Beverly Hills...a gourmet cupcake shop. The only problem....they really don't have enough money to pull it off and are hedging on their mother's recipe for success. They start it all off...hiring people to build-out the inside, paint the walls, and paint those diamonds you see on the outside. Broke as they are...they decide to cut cost...don't pay for the help...and hope that mom will reveal the true recipe. Well......She didn't! The Cupcakes lacked the secret ingredient....so dry and tasteless. Their corner cutting appetite with construction, fed into their initial hiring phase...with employees not qualified to run a merry-go-round...and people skills even lacking to perform that position. The only thing that they could claim was a few cool circles on their exterior...a copied concept (imitation is the highest form of flattery)...and a broken down ego soon to be revived by upper management at your local Wendy's....Yee-Haa!! We have a job lined up!
Bottom-Line:
BAD FOOD...BAD MANAGEMENT...BAD KARMA...COOL CIRCLES!
- Pros: Their.....Arrogant/Cali-Beverly-Wannabe-Cockiness???
- Cons: The Fact They Can't Even Pull It Off!!!
Crave Cupcakes? Skip These...Tasteless, Boring, Overpriced
by jujuzowie at Citysearch
I bought 3 different kinds. Not one was good. All were dry, tasteless and (at $3.00 each) very overpriced. I think this little, pretentious "wanna be" bakery will not stay in business for long.....sorry.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Overpriced
service stinks!

I had heard alot about this place. I don't know if it is just because it is trendy that it is so popular or perhaps I just caught them on an off day. A friend brought me a cupcake from Crave one day knowing I had been waiting to try them and just hadn't made it in. I was so disappointed. I have had grocery store and mass produced packaged cakes that were better. I had 3 bites, dropped one bite out into the trash and tossed the rest of the cupcake in with it. It was bland, dry, dry, dry, ingredients tasted cheap and just overall gross. I am a big sweets fan and really thought I would love them and was so disappointed. I might try again just to see if I got a bad one or it was a bad day,but won't go out of my way to do so.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Cupcakes are dry and bland
