Great Heights Coffee Shop
by hipchick19
This is a great little family coffee shop in the heights. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. Great place for acoustic live music! We had coffee and dessert and the desserts are homemade and the coffee was as good or better than any Starbucks.
- Pros: Great staff, coffee, food
- Cons: Parking
Great Breakfast, Great Coffee, Great People
by maryalderson
My husband introduced me to Mojo... Immediately, I felt at home. Our neighborhood is "developing" so quickly, very few places retain the family-friendly feel that we love. Every time we come in, one (if not both) of the owners stop what they're doing to come play with our 6 month old. I know we're going to have an hour or two of relaxing company and enjoyable conversation every time we stop for lunch or weekend breakfast..... WE LOVE IT!!! If you're tired of the assembly line coffee shop, this is what you've been looking for! Kudos!
- Pros: family-owned.... family-friendly
Fantastic Breakfast!
by rwoehst
It's like going to a good friends house for breakfast! Owners Mom & Pop (Terry & Jack) are so friendly and welcoming. Food is good, prices are good, service is good, coffee is good and they're big supporters of live music - often featuring different acts from around the globe!!!!
Best Coffee and Atmosphere in Houston
by seamrippstress
Who knew Mojo Risin' was right next door to Spaghetti Western? Couldn't believe i'd never noticed it and once i did, i fell in love! Awesome music, warm friendly owners and the best best coffee in town. Their lunch specials are fresh and delicious. Try the quiche! They frequently have live local bands all with eclectic tunes. love Mojo Risin! Oh but don't be in a hurry!
- Pros: Excellent coffee, rockin atmosphere, Heights location
- Cons: easy to miss, located in same building next to Spaghetti Western
Best Saturday Breakfast
by luisa10
My boyfriend and I moved in across the street and soon discovered this gem! Mojos has quickly become "our spot" for Saturday breakfast. Amazing coffee, to die for food (try the croissant french toast and breakfast bowl), and the owners are just about the sweetest people. Service is very personal and therefore might be slow if the place is packed, but it's worth the wait!
- Pros: food, coffee, ambiance, people
- Cons: space is small
Uniques coffee & music
by proeater2
Terri & Jack have poured their lives into building this business. Friendliest place in town. Cleanest kitchen in town. All of their great dishes are prepared to order just like your Mom does. They have super omelettes, chicken salad, and the best quiche I have ever had (3 kinds). They also have the best fruit/yogurt dish money can buy. All fresh fruit.
- Pros: Great food & friendly
- Cons: Not open Sunday Morning
Awesome Breakfast!
by lesismore90
This is a fantastic neighborhood "mom & pop" place. With a very cozy atmosphere, it's decked out in a really cute hippy motif. Had breakfast here one Saturday with neighbors who are regulars on a first-name basis with the owners. The owners are so friendly, it's really nice to be greeted like that in the morning! The coffee is excellent, much better than Sta&*%$$$$'s! And they make this croissant french toast coated in their special crunchy mix of cereal that is to die for. Great place for a laid-back Saturday breakfast!
- Pros: personalized service
The best coffee house ever
by brandice5
We come all the way from Florida to hang out at Mojo's! Our favorite food is the quiche and any of the homemade pastries. The service is as it should be- precise and courteous. We love mom and pop and look forward to going back.
- Pros: The people and the food.
- Cons: None come to mind
Your new favorite coffeehouse/acoustic music venue/breakfast place - all in one with warm & fuzzy owners who will take care of you!

NOW OPEN ON SUNDAY MORNINGS FROM 9 A TO 1P!!! there's only room on the front walk for ONE dog - me - muddywatersthedog. i get my obligatory two-piece bacon side just minutes after my human companion and i pull up. don't get any ideas. i'm special. there's not really any room at this place for dogs, but there's LOTS of room for humans inside, who are searching for a place to call home, just a short skip away from home.
owners jack and terri have become family to all of their customers and vice versa. they drive in during the wee hours of the morning to get the breakfast and fresh Katz's coffee on.....and stay through the night about four nights a week for some of the best unheard and much-heard local, regional and int'l music in town.
the current BYOB policy ($5) let's my mama make a mean "brandy alexander," which leads to, at the end of the night, a party of brandy alexander drinkers. cold beer mugs in the community freezer will compliment the beer you bring (you can store it in the community fridge) and the expresso brownies (not good for dogs) are out of this world! i have to run my human companion an extra 5 miles/ week now that she's found her favorite dessert!
say hi to frank zappa in the bathroom, admire the owners' hand-painted 60's vibes on the walls (janice, bob, peace), meet lots of new friends, use FREE WI-FI and ENJOY!
you can check the music schedule online at their webpage or you can just call and ask the owner what kind of music is scheduled. you can even link to my human companion's myspace and see pictures of me (username americanradiogirl on myspace). the cover is always reasonable and the entire cover charge goes to the artist.
so, if you're looking for a good philly cheese, quiche, turkey panini or the best breakfast plates and coffee drinks in town (try the FRAPPA ZAPPA), this is your place... if you see me out front, feel free to drop me your leftovers (no potatoes, please).
- Pros: Great food and coffee and totally cool prices. Lovely service.
- Cons: they aren't open 24/7???
great coffee, delightful people
by scottking
i don't drink coffee everyday; but if i do, its here!!! i love the atmosphere and the variety of music and faces you're sure to encounter at Mojo. Jack and Terri (the owners) are so much fun; its hard to get up and go to work. Highly Recommeded!
- Pros: everything except parking
- Cons: parking near shepherd
