Sub-Par for a gormet bakery
by kingwoodnik at Citysearch
I never, ever, post reviews on places that I go - good or bad. But I had to this time. I must say that I agree with those posts which say the cupcakes are dry. I went to each lunch with a co-worker of mine and when we passed Sugarbaby's I said we must stop on the way back to pick up a treat for our afternoon coffee. We bought the the Dippety Do Dah, the Lemon, the 24 Carat Cake, the Chocolate Rouge, the Neopolitian, and the Pina Colada. I know from experience that chocolate cake in general can be difficult to make moist. But all of the ones that we chose were dry. In addition, the cake itself was "flat" no really flavor to it. You almost needed the too sweet frosting to compliment the no flavor cake. We won't be back...because we were both very disappointed.
- Pros: Atmosphere
- Cons: Not very good
Sugarbabies is Heavenly!!!!

Don't bother going to other cupcake places here in Houston! Sugarbabies has the BEST, the richest, and the cutest cupcakes around. Really great, girly atmosphere, and very nice staff. Excellent service! I brought my daughter from Seattle for a cupcake and she loved the place. BTW, we tried other cupcake places in Houston, and liked Sugarbabies best by far.
- Pros: You'll want to eat a dozen by yourself!
Fabulous cupcakes!

I have been a frequent customer here over then past 8 months and have never been disappointed. The icing is flavorful, the cake is quite moist, and there is a lot of variety of the flavors available. The red velvet is the best anywhere, as is anything with their chocolate icing! A nice treat.
I wanted this place to be so good!

After looking at the Sugarbabies website for days and drooling over the cupcakes i decided to make a short trip to the shop. When i walked in i was greeted to the smell of butter and the beautiful pink and black design. I purchased four cupcakes and rushed home to eat them. THEY WERE DRY EXTREMELY DRY! They tasted like they had been sitting out for over three days. I was so shocked by this that i let my roommate try two she agreed that they were also horrible. I would never recommended this bakery to anyone.
- Pros: The shop is very girl friendly
- Cons: The cupcakes are not good.

The Best

I can't believe some of you thought the cupcakes were dry! The only way I've ever had a dry one was the one time we got too many and couldn't eat them all that day and we left it in the box over night. I go in about once a week for the Black Forest, Peanut butter cup, strawberry and "plain" chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Their frosting, while piled on (I love frosting, so I like the amount) isn't nearly as sweet as most frostings. I can eat it without feeling sick. The only thing bad thing I can say about this place is the younger girls aren't very friendly, but I can deal with that, as long as I get my cupcakes!! Once I even asked for a "cherry" one - meaning black forest, and after checking the box as I was going to my car, saw that they had put in a velvet rouge (they are topped with a cherry). I went back to tell them the mistake and they gave me the black forest for free. I also love that they use buttercream frosting for the most part instead of cream cheese frosting. You have got to try them!!
- Pros: The best cupcakes anywhere!
- Cons: Parking can be bad on Saturdays.

I just had my daughter's birthday party (pink poodles in paradise) and EVERYONE had a wonderful time. The cupcakes were tasty, the staff were friendly -- I had a great time. As a family we typically go for cupcakes and tea as an afternoon break. We be back soon! Thanks to all the staff!!!
- Pros: Great atmosphere
- Cons: Parking is a bit difficult
Best CUPCAKES in Houston
by MsCupcake2u at Citysearch
I received a dozen of mixed cupcakes as a birthday gift from my daughter. They were a variety of cupcakes. I was a little disappointed in her for spending so much money on cupcakes. After biting into my first Sugarbaby cupcake.....I thought "OMG" these are the BEST DAMN CUPCAKES EVER!!!! I am totally hooked. They were decorated so cute and were delicious. I did not find them dry like some other people commented. I'm not a professional baker....but could tell that they were made out of quality ingredients.
So....owners of Sugarbabies Bakery.....I will be your free advertisement singing your praises.
Keep up the good work!!! Like Arnold say's "I'll be back" :)
- Pros: Great cupcakes, friendly staff, cute bakery
- Cons: limited parking
