Favorite Clear Lake Restaurante

by cldiner

Bailey's has become my restaurant in the Clear Lake Area. My wife and I eat there quite often and have had a wonderful experience from top to bottom.

If you are a prime rib or steak lover, try the best piece of prime rib that you will ever be served in a restaurant. The prime rib is served rare, however ask them to throw it on the grill for a bit to bring it up med rare or med.

Bailey's is one of the few restaurants our area that can consistently nail cooking a fish entree. You cannot go wrong with their fresh catch specials. Someone has had a fish entree at our table nearly every visit and not once have we been dissapointed. If you like fish that doesn't taste "fishy", then this is your place.

The wine list is very nice and if you are ever in doubt just ask as the staff are very knowlegible about pairings for their food.

We enjoy being served by their seasoned staff, as most are all familiar faces because of their tenure at the restaurant.

Bailey's is a gem.

Consistently good service, and really good food.

Enjoy!!!

  • Pros: Fabulous Fish and Top of the Line Smoked Prime Rib
  • Cons: A bit noisy

Good food...terrible place to hold an event

by megs1130

We live in the League City area and found out about Bailey's when we were looking for wedding venues. My fiance and I have eaten there on a Saturday night and also for brunch. The food and waiting service was great, so we decided to choose this as our wedding venue. Big mistake!! We first spoke to someone in November, but wanted to wait to make a decision after the holidays. We called and spoke to the event coordinator and met with him and thought all was good. A week later I sent over our menu selection and the number of guests to estimate so we could come up with a contract and figure to make a deposit. A little after a week had gone by no one had contacted me so I called and spoke to a gal who said the gentleman we were working with was out sick and she would look into it. When I finally contacted them again because of their poor follow-up service, I talked to a new gentleman on his first day of work. He kindly made an appointment to meet us and had even emailed the contract to us. However, the restaurant's contract was no contract at all it was a pricing sheet. When we met with him, he agreed and was going to talk to the owner. Well we finally heard back and got their so-called contract which didn't mention anything we were concerned with and had talked about and now had many unmentioned fees. My advice if you are considering this as an event site is to go elsewhere. When paying a large sum of money a contract is needed to protect both parties which they cannot seem to provide a legitimate one. We will never spend another dime or minute of our time on this restaurant.

good food but not excellent

by bordeux34

bailey's is a nice restaurant for the not so nice seabrook -kemah area.

the food was ok not what i expected considering they advertise the food as delicious. it wasn't that tasty and something i notice is that the food presentation they advertise in the web page is not as nice in person and we had the most expensive items in the menu so that was dissapointing however the staff was very good and the atmosphere is really nice.

  • Pros: nice place inside and out ; good inexpensive red wine
  • Cons: not a good apettizer selection, the restrooms look cheap!

Best steak ever...

by ahnyanka

I had passed Bailey's several times before without really knowing what it was. My husband and I were in the mood for a nice dinner, but we wanted to try something new. As we were driving past the restaurant I suggested we stop in. Upon entering, I was struck by the decor... it has kind of a modern steakhouse feel. Very unique chairs which were surprisingly comfortable. The service was above and beyond wonderful, the food was fresh and delicious, and the chef was refreshingly adventurous... I felt like I was judging an episode of Iron Chef America (in a good way). My husband had the ribeye, I believe, with this amazing chili pepper butter... it literally melted in my mouth. We both agreed that it was the best steak we had ever had, and I've eaten at some of the nicer restaurants in Houston. We had our children with us, and although the staff made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be back without the kids. ;)

  • Pros: Food, service, ambiance
  • Cons: Pricey (but worth it, so is that a con?)

Great food, great bar and cozy!

by smiles24

Great food, great bar and cozy! Also a great banquet facility next door for an event small or large. We had an event in the "wine room" and it was a perfect setting. The food was great, we could hear ourselves talking to each other. I would recommend it for any get together in the Clear Lake area. Nice outdoor patio too!

  • Pros: great american food choices, parking excellent, ambience is perfect!

Sub-Par

by princeton25

Our evening at Bailey's was anything but upscale dining. Though the decor was very nice, the food was horrible. The wait staff was unpolished, and to top it off the bartender was drinking with other wait staff in the bar. I was appalled. Will never go back.

A great find

by jpsykes

The wife and I were in town From Dallas to visit the grandkids over Christmas and wanted to go out for good meal and selected Bailey's based mostly on the reviews here and our location.

The wife ordered the prime rib and I ordered the seafood pasta. It was the best piece of prime rib that I've seen served in a restaurant in probably 10 to 15 years. It was cooked exactly to order and had a great smoky flavor. The seafood pasta was a nice mix of flavors and was very good. The decor was refined but relaxing. Our waitress(Danna I believe) was attentive and all that I want in a wait staff. The wine selection was pretty good and I selected a Texas wine from McPherson that was better than I expected it to be.

As mentioned in another review the meal was not cheap but we knew that ahead of time and were not looking for a cheap meal. What we got a great meal/dining experience for the dollars that we paid.

The end result - I would dine there again.

  • Pros: great food

Great Service and Delicious Food

by lackeybnch

I entered the establishment not realizing how nice it was going to be. It is very warm and comfortable. The decor is very elegant and classy. Our server "Theo" was extremely up beat and did his job very well. The food was absolutely delicious. The portions were perfectly sized and displayed very nicely. I ordered the shrimp BLT and my co-worker ordered the special for that day. I thought that my dish was reasonably priced, but the special and the mixed drinks are over priced? Overall, the whole experience was well worth the stop. I would ,however, not recommend this restaurant if you are strapped for cash...but an occasional visit for lunch or an evening out with your significant other or some good friends would be highly recommended. I cannot wait to take my husband there. Everything was wonderful! I did also notice that there were not a whole lot of tables in the main dining area, so I would definitely make a reservation if you plan on going for dinner. Seems to me that they are more concerned with the quality of service verses how many people they can cram into the place?.which is a good thing. Nothing worse than going to a restaurant and you are literally touching elbows with the table next to you. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will NOT be sorry.

  • Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
  • Cons: over priced drinks

New Up Scale in Clear Lake

by mare2025

The first thing you notice when you walk in the door is that you don't feel like you are in Clear Lake anymore. It "feels" like a Houston restaurant. Lovely environment. I do feel that the main dining room is a tad loud on a busy night. The first time we visited I had the prime rib and my husband had the salmon. Both were delicious. Great flavors in the meats, not too much, just enough. I did not enjoy the potato fingerlings with came with my steak, however, because they tasted like they belonged with stew meat. The rest was fantastic. We had the Dr. Pepper chocolate cake for dessert and it was heaven! I ordered a manhattan to start, but they didn't have any sweet vermouth. About 10 minutes later, they came to my table to apologize and said they had run out and gotten some. I was impressed. Overall, a great meal at a reasonable price. The second time we went with took another couple. We all enjoyed our bottle of wine and our main dishes. Again, the sides could be more flavorfull. I had the parmesan mash had no flavor other than potato. I was disappointed with only that! The meat was delicious and perfectly cooked. My husband had seared tuna and it was delicious. It was served with a sauce, but it wasn't needed. The flavor was perfect. By the time I looked up to see what the other two were eating, it was gone, so it must have been good! Go enjoy Bailey's. It is a nice restaurant with a touch of class for Clear Lake.

  • Pros: Excellent Entrees and Desserts(Appetizers are good too!)
  • Cons: Side Dishes are weak.

Casual elegance and steakhouse offerings incorporating Gulf Coast flavors define this Clear Lake date spot.

by Contributor

The Scene
Clear Lake locals looking for a more elegant dining option can count on Brad Bailey's steakhouse for crisp service and an upscale casual atmosphere. Texas limestone columns augment the large main dining room that ends in an open kitchen. A side bar near the entrance promotes lingering over cocktails.

The Food
The menu provides Gulf Coast steakhouse fare highlighting local seasonal products and regional flavors. Appetizer standouts feature jumbo lump crab, like the fried green tomatoes served with Texas goat cheese and a lemon garlic sauce. Sample andouille flat bread grilled in a wood-burning oven for an starter or make it a meal with a seafood-topped salad. Creamy shrimp and grits, mesquite grilled salmon and ancho-maple glazed chicken join a 12-ounce pork chop with grilled peaches and a fall-off-the-bone beef short rib braised in Shiner beer. Sides please Southern palates with creamed green beans, apple bacon mash and slow cooked greens.
